Chapter 8: Ch 8 Digging Into The Truth, Trying To Get Some Answers

Gean landed back on Kamino. He along with R3-X12 went back to his room. He asked the droid to stay here for now and he would requisition some needed parts for upgrading him. The little droid beeped and booped in happiness. Seemingly excited to be improved.

Gean went around the cloner city gathering the equipment he would need. When he returned he got to work on R3-X12. He installed better motors on his wheels and slightly more powerful thrusters to improve his mobility. He added a DC-15s side arm blaster that would come out of a hatch in the droids head. It would be like a small turret. He chose the commando pistol because of its ability to recharge and not have to be reloaded. He then gave the droid a personal shield with about the same power as his armor. It could take several shots before going down.

The last upgrades he gave to R3-X12 was software. He added a lot more computing power making the little guy smarter and faster thinking. The then put in an advanced targeting system. Allowing R3-X12 to effectively use the DC-15s and the weapons on the Alpha Sanctuary if needed. The last thing he could think of for now was wireless connection. His astromech would only need to physically connect to networks if it had very good security. He could connect to the Alpha Sanctuary or other allied craft with no problem. He could slice into networks within about 100ft. Roughly the same range as he could with his own helmet.

Gean was so engrossed in "playing" with his new friend that he was startled when he was paged to report to the High Council. He had forgot to do so as soon as he returned, like he was supposed to. He quickly went to meet with the council.

Gean reported that he had received his ship and then showed them his design for the Secutor. He explained it's features to the council, trying to gain favor to get at least one constructed. "It would be a very good command ship for whoever ordered my brothers and I."

The council eventually agreed to commission 1 of the vessels. It was explained that with the budget they were given for the army's equipment procurement, they would have to cancel several other ships. Gean was sure that a war was coming. Whoever ordered them was preparing. They were a large, well equipped and high quality clone army after all. It wouldn't make sense if they were just for security or peace keeping.

Leaving the council chambers, Gean headed back to his own room. He was determined to get some answers. What was going on? He sat at his data terminal and started digging into it.

The first thing he found in the Kaminoan files he didn't like. It was a so-called inhibiter chip. It was a bio chip in every brain of his brothers, except the Alpha class like himself. It would limit independents and aggression. The chip was also coded with a set of orders that could essentially brain wash his brothers in to following them when activated. His analytical brain agreed on the surface. For an army this chip was a good thing, but he hated what it was doing to his brothers.

The other thing that got to him was the accelerated aging used on them. Why didn't the Kaminoans develop a way to stop or slow the accelerated aging process after they were grown. They would have a much shorter life span. They could stay as an effective army much longer if they were at a fit fighting age longer. Why? The 2 possibilities he could think of was either they were expected to die in battle, or the Kaminoans wanted more clones to constantly be ordered when one batch got to old…

Gean lost a lot of his trust in the Kaminoans with his findings so far. He was thinking of possibility developing a way to disable the chip and slow their aging. His brothers could have a longer better life if he could figure something out. That would be for later, for now he kept digging.

He found in the files that the army was ordered by a Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas for the Republic. The interesting part was that the credits for the army didn't come from the Republic, but from the Banking Clan. He seemed to be getting more questions than answers.

Gean went into the Republic database to try and get more information. He found the records for Cifo-Dyas. The man had died very shortly after placing the order for the army. The coincidence was odd.

He couldn't find any records of the army anywhere in the Republic database. With the amount of bureaucracy he knew the Galactic Senate to have, there should definitely be records.

There was nothing else useful in the Republic records so he then looked into the Banking Clan. Unfortunately he couldn't find anything pertinent in there records either. What he did find though was that they weren't exactly happy with the Republic right now. Why were they still paying for the army meant for the Republic than?

Gean wasn't able to find any more answers right now. He figured he could try asking Jango some questions when he got back. He would have to wait and see if he could figure thing out in time. He didn't want his brother clones to be used as someone's pawns.

AN: This chapter took a lot of thought. It is crucial to Gean's mind set and to future events in the story. I had to get it right. I don't think I did.

Basically Gean is for the proper use and treatment of his brothers. He doesn't know what is going on but he knows something shady is happening in the background. He isn't going to go rogue or anything. He will stick with his fellow clones. You will all see in the future what some of my plans are but this chapter was a major set up for them.
