Chapter 3: Chapter Two

"Sir, Wait up" The boy called out to Yufei as he chased after him. When he arrived next to Yufei he said, "I want to thank you."

Yufei then replied, "You said your thanks, Now go back to where you came from."

The boy refused and continued to follow Yufei. After a while he asked, "Aren't you a beginner in the league? How can you play so good?"

Yufei chuckled as he said, "When did I tell you I was a beginner."

The boy then recalled, "Well, you used a guest account. Wouldn't you have logged into your account if you already have one?"

At hearing this Yufei smiled, "I have an account, I just didn't want to use it."

"Why?" the boy questioned.

"Because they would have backed out if they realized who I was." Yufei revealed, slightly turning his head towards the boy.

"But they wouldn't have recognized your account unless...." the boy paused and then gasped, "Are you a professional player?"

Yufei smiled and continued walking as he answered the boy's question, "I used to be, but not anymore. I retired."

When hearing this the boy then sadly stated, "Two years ago there was this player who also retired. You know he was considered to be a legend because of how well he played."

Realizing that the boy was talking about him, Yufei quickly said, "Really?"

The boy excitedly replied, "Yeah. In fact he's what inspires me to keep playing the league."

Yufei stopped and turned to the boy asking, "How does he inspire you?"

The boy smirked, "For most people it's because they dream to become a legend like him, but for me it's the fact that although the journey was hard to become that legend he never gave up."

Upon hearing the reason the boy had Yufei felt a warm feeling inside. He then started walking again and asked the boy, "But aren't his fans disappointed in him for retiring?"

"Most of them are, but there are those of us who knows that he'll come back to the the gaming world, or that he might have never left at all, because there are times when his account shows that he's online and once in a while pops up in a game. You know what they say, Old habits die hard. It's not easy to stop doing something you love." The boy stated.

Yufei realized that what the boy is saying was right. He loved the league and although he retired he still wants to be a part of it. Yufei recalled all the good times he had with his friends as they played the league together and that made him smile.

While they walked a few minutes longer and stopped in front of an apartment building. "Well this is where I stop." Yufei told the boy who in returned thanked him again and started heading back to the café.

Before the boy was gone from sight Yufei shouted at him, "Hey kid, If he comes back, what would you do?"

The boy then cheerily replied, "I would challenge him to duel." After answering Yufei the boy jogged around the block continuing to the café.

Yufei entered the building and took the elevator to floor five heading for the door that marked 517. He entered his apartment and turned on the lights reflecting on what the boy replied to him before leaving. Yufei chuckled and hopped onto his bed.

"Kids these days." He sighed. After a while he got up off the bed to take a shower, after that he ate and went back into his room. As he was about to fall asleep his phone vibrated. Yufei stretched for his phone on the dresser beside his bed and looked on the name on the message notification. Seeing that it was Li Wei, Yufei opened the message, to see a map with an address pinned on it.

"Must be the teams base." Yufei stated to himself as he called Li Wei.

"Hey." Li Wei answered then asked, "Did you get it?"

"Just did. What time should I be there?" Yufei added.

"Around 11:00 a.m." Li Wei answered.

They talked for a while mainly about their past and Yufei told him about the boy he met and what he said. When their conversation was over they both told each other goodnight and hung up the phone.

Yufei set his phone's alarm for 10:00 a.m. and turned off the lamp. He made himself comfortable under the covers and slowly fell asleep.

Morning came quicker than he anticipated and his alarm loudly rang. A half awake Yufei rolled to reach for his phone but without knowing he was already at the edge of the bed he fell right off. He groaned for the little pain he had as he slowly got to his knees and clutched the phone to turn off the alarm and threw it onto the far side of the now disarranged covers of the bed.

He climbed back onto the bed and moaned, "Just five more minutes." And fell back asleep.

He was then later woken up by the constant ringing and vibrating of his phone, placing out his hand to search the bed for the phone. His hands soon came across the vibrating phone and he answered the call and placed it towards his ears and murmured, "Yeah?"

"It's already 12:00 p.m. where are you?" Li Wei asked in a frustrated manner.

At hearing what time it was Yufei's eyes enlarged as he heaved his head off his pillow and sprung out of the bed.

Not hearing a reply from Yufei, Li Wei then screamed into the phone, "Yufei, where are you? You're making me look bad."

Yufei was rushing towards his closet and grabbed the first jeans and hoodie he saw. "Yeah, there was a problem on my way and I had to take a pregnant woman to the hospital. I stayed with her until they said that she was okay. I left the hospital already and I'm on my way there now." he lied and hung up the phone.

Yufei wiggled into the black ripped jeans and hauled on the black hoodie with the word 'VICTORY' in white and all caps printed on it.

He then rushed to his dresser draw and pulled out a pair of black socks. He reached for his pair of black and white Nike under the bed and slipped his feet into them.

Yufei then grabbed his phone and dashed through his apartment door. When he made it out into the streets he tried calling for an uber but his phone showed that the nearest uber was 45 minutes away.

Yufei then opened the message that Li Wei sent him with the location of the base pinned on google maps. He scanned to see which would be the fastest way to get there, and as he was finished he started to sprint down the street.

After running for about half and hour, Yufei finally arrived at the entrance of the base. He stopped at the gate, placing his hands on his knees. he breathed so hard that his throat was starting to hurt.

After catching his breath, he walked to the security booth beside the gate.

"Who are you here to see?" The guard asked.

Yufei who was still tired panted, "I'm here to watch the teams training match, Li Wei told me to come check it out."

The guard then smiled, "Ahh the new manager. Go right ahead."

Yufei then thanked the guard and walked under the rising black and yellow striped barrier. He walked up the hill and around the curve. When he arrived at the entrance of the base he saw an anxious Li Wei waiting for him.

"It has been about 40 minutes since you said you left the hospital, what took you so long to get here, and why are you sweating? Did you run?" Li Wei interrogated the slightly panting Yufei.

Yufei cleared his throat, "Yeah, traffic was bad, so I decided to run here." Keeping his eyes from meeting with Li Wei's, Yufei walked through the base's door asking, "Where's the team?"

Li Wei rushed in behind him and lead Yufei to the base's training room. When they entered everyone who was in the room directed their attention to them. There were six young guys who seemed to be in their early twenties, a woman, and a man.

"This must be the manager you were talking about." The woman asked as she walked towards Yufei. She stretched out her hand and introduced, "I'm Xin Yi the team's director and that is Wuxian my assistant." she pointed at the man behind her.

Yufei shook her hand, "Nice to meet you, I'm Yufei."

They released each other's hand and Xin Yi led Yufei to the team members. "Guys come listen here for a second." When they all walked a little closer to her she noticed that one of them were missing, "Hold on. Where's Suchang?" She then questioned.

"He went to the kitchen for some water." One of the boys answered and as he did the door of the training room opened and someone walked in. It was Suchang holding a bottle of water in his hand.

Yufei turned around and froze as he looked at the boy standing at the door. Yufei then exclaimed, "It's you!"

Suchang then looked at Yufei and gasped saying, "You."

Everyone was puzzled. Li Wei then broke up the silence by asking, "Uh, you two know each other."

Yufei turned to Li Wei saying, "Yeah, he's the boy I told you about last night."

Suchang then followed by saying, "He's the guy I told you guys about last night."

The room became filled with Oh's as everyone nodded. "Talk about what a small world it is." Xin Yi snickered.

She then crossed her arms and introduced the guys as Suchang walked towards them. "This is Daoming, he is 19 and the youngest on the team. He plays top lane and his gamer name is Divergent." She pointed at the boy exactly beside. He had jet black shaggy hair which fell above his brown eyes which shined as he smiled; reflecting on the meaning of his name 'Shining Path'.

Xin Yi then pointed her finger next to the boy beside Daoming, "This is Fenhua, his gamer name and nickname is Kat. He plays ADC. He's 21 and like his name is very energetic." Fenhua reached for Yufei's hand and shook it, "Nice to meet you, I hope you decide to manage us"

Yufei awkwardly smiled as he remarked to Xin Yi's statement, "I can see that."

Fenhua was smiling widely and because of this his eyes seemed to barley be opened. His hair was neatly parted in the middle and the left side was tucked behind his ears leaving the right side to dangled over his eyes.

Fenhua released Yufei's hand and Xin Yi then continued pointing to the guy next to Fenhua, "This is Sile the teams optimist. He always manages keep us on the positive side of things. Which is why he makes an unreplaceable Support. He's 20 and his gamer's name is Virus."

Sile had a very soft and cute demeanor. His hair wasn't as long as the others and the fringes was right above his eyebrows. Due to the baby fat that could still be seen in his face made him look so sweet as well as cute.

Xin Yi moved her hand to point at the guy next to Sile, "Next that is Sicong. He's 22 and the oldest on the team. Like his name says, he is clever and he originates interesting tactics for our games. He plays the Jungle and his gamer name is Hunter."

Hunter like Yufei was dressed all in black and had black eyeliner around his eyes. His hair was long and stretched down his neck but wasn't long enough to touch his shoulders. It was parted down the middle and both left and right side were tucked behind his ears. The short side bangs where right next to his eyes. His appearance was enough to make one think that he's cold and not much of a talker.

Xin Yi continued down the line pointing at Suchang, "You already met Suchang. He's 20 and is the teams Mid-Solo and his gamer name is Faze. His name describes him really well for he is an easy-going guy."

Suchang was tall and was wearing a black hoodie. His hair was covered with a white cap but his eyes could still clearly bee seen.

Xin Yi inhaled and finished, "Lastly the two guys in the back are the substitutes. The red head is Xu Ke, he's 21, gamer name Sharpshooter and is a top laner like Daoming. The grey eyes next to him is Yang Yang, he's 20, gamer name Executor and plays Mid-lane like Suchang."

After she introduced them, Yufei presented himself, "Nice to meet you everyone. I'm Yufei and I used to be a professional gamer. Don't get your hopes up yet because as requested I'm only hear to see how you play. What I decide is based on how well you play today so give it you best."

They all welcomed Yufei and then Suchang, Sicong, Fenhua. Daoming and Sile quickly went to their stations and started to prepare for the practice match against their neighboring team OpTic Gaming. Whose base was just a little more up the hill from their base.

"Hey wasn't their game scheduled for 11:30?" Yufei quietly asked Li Wei tilting his head towards him.

"No. It was scheduled for 1:00 p.m." Li Wei revealed making Yufei look at him in annoyance. Li Wei looked at him, "What, I knew that you would oversleep so I just told you something to wake you up."

Yufei bit his tongue and raised his hand slapping Li Wei behind the head. After he walked behind the gaming chair of Fenhua and watched them log into the game.

As they completed choosing their champions and the countdown started, they pulled on their headset and placed their hand on the keyboard and mouse, getting ready for the start of the match.
