Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Refining a New Spirit!

"I should first start by raising my own Cultivation."

Atreus was currently sitting in his bed pondering about how he should proceed from here on.

"Looking at my finances. I am super rich! Not only do I have a lot of Mana Stones but I also have over 2000 Merit Points!"

Well, he could have already started cultivating back during the Ceremony but he didn't want to make the Crazed Devilman his core spirit for now.

"Sigh! The materials required for any one of its recipes are truly rare. More so over if I want to keep its Slaughter Typing, I would have to look for the super rare material the 'Abyssal Heart'."

The Abyssal Heart was a body organ from a Rank 3 Magic Beast, the 'Demonic Troll'.

"I should first go to the Treasury first to exchange for some Spirits and materials."

Thinking like this Atreus stood up and decided to go to the Treasury. He quickly moved through the Sect.

Since he was still in the Inner Circle many Disciples bowed to him when they saw him. Some women even tried to walk up to him.

But Atreus ignored all the attention and went straight inside the Treasure Hall.

He greeted the Old Man.

"I would like to retrieve my prizes from the Ceremony. Also I am exchanging 2000 merit points for two more Rank 1 Spirits of my choice."

The Old Man nodded. He waved his hand and threw a black coloured storage ring at Atreus.

"All of your prizes are in here. I have also put in empty Rank 1 Spirit Orbs in there, you can store any Spirit you want inside them."

Atreus nodded. Most of the Summoners had only limited space inside there Mana Spaces, so they used Spirit Orbs to store the extra Spirits that they found.

"With my Heaven Tier Space, I can hold in about 3 Spirits but once I refine a Support Spirit then I can hold up to 4."

Support Type Spirits that raised mana capacity were too rare and even the Demon Chaser Sect didn't have any of them!

But Atreus used to be a refining specialist in his past life!

He had a lot of recipes for such Support Type Spirits. Atreus then went inside and selected Three Spirits that he liked.

'Golden Lotus' a Plant Type Spirit, quite rare, it looked like a giant floating Lotus that shined gold in colour. It could be used for movement and defence.

'Rosen Lampshade', a Fire Type Spirit, that looked like a floating Nightlamp with Crimson Fire in it. It was a pretty useless Spirit for most Summoners.

Next was a 'Icicle Fairy'. It looked like a small Female like creature that was made out of frost. Good in stalling and attacking.

"The Golden Lotus can temporarily cover my defence and movement. With the Rosen Lampshade and Icicle Fairy I will refine my own special recipe the 'Frozen Flame Spirit!'"

Atreus then quickly moved across the Sect once again. He had to buy a lot of materials.

The Exchange Emporium of the Sect was located in the Outer Circle. As Atreus moved across the Outer Sect, the disciples around him were shocked and stood still not daring to move when he passed them.

'Its someone from the Core!'

'Gosh! How long has it been since anyone from there came here?'

'What do you think he is going to do…'

Atreus quickly arrived at the Exchange Hall. The Manger of the first floor arrived to greet him. It was a Fat Chubby guy with a round face.

"How may I help you?"

Atreus told him all the materials he wanted. He hesitated a little before saying.

"Ah! This should be within my capabilities."

Time Passed and Atreus was back in his own chambers. He wasted no time and began refining the Spirit.

He moved the two Spirits from earlier into his mana space and then brought them out.

They floated in the air as a mana current connected them. Atreus then skillfully channeled his mana and began throwing materials within the mana current he had created between the Two Spirits.

"Freezing Ice Claws" "Melting Coal Shell" "Mana Dust". He began throwing all sorts of rare materials as the glow of Mana became brighter!

"These materials alone cost me 1500 Mana Stones." It couldn't be helped since the materials he needed were too rare.

Soon the two spirits started to melt into each other. Time passed and the two spirits melted into each other completely.

A new shape had formed out of them. As the light faded a new Spirit was completely revealed.

It looked like a Small Humanoid that had porcelain white skin. It was currently inside in a crystal ice coffin with azure flame floating around it.

The Frozen Flame!

It was even more rare than the Crazed Devilman!

"Mainly because this is my own recipe." Atreus eyes glowed with pride and he felt funny about it too.

"Ha! To benefit from own knowledge. It's a blessing."

The Frozen Flame had one main ability that Atreus wanted, it could boost his mana capacity. Apart from that it could both attack and defend simultaneously.

Atreus quickly set it as his core spirit and began to use rest of his mana stones to Cultivate.

Just like this time flew by fast and a Week had already passed.

A lot of new disciples were stretched during this time. They had to cultivate, attend lectures and learn about information all by themselves.

Atreus simply stayed inside his Chambers. His Cultivation had also sky rocketed to middle Rank 1 Stage.

"Both my Spirits are now middle Stage."

Outwardly the Frozen Flame had gotten a little bigger than his own hand whilst the Crazed Devilman was the same.

But overall, they had a significant boost in strength. Atreus wouldn't have stopped cultivating but his finances ran a little low.

Both his Spirits used rare materials for food, the first one consumed Jade Lilies a rare herb that cost a lot and the second one fed on Corrupted Metals that were also a little expensive.

"I myself use a lot of Mana Stones to raise my stage quickly."

Atreus sighed and decided that perhaps he should look for some mission. Thinking like this he decided to go and look inside the Mission Hall.

The Mission Hall was a wide space that had multiple counters set up. One all sides were large floating walls that had multiple quests written on it.

Atreus went to one side and began to look for something.

"Oh! Hello Atreus." Atreus glanced and found out that it was Lia who was standing besides him. She was accompanied by a Boy, who was an Inner Circle Disciple.

He had brown hair and an average face. His name was Heron.

Heron was a little hesitant at this moment. He had accompanied his junior because he had taken a liking to her. So when she went up to another male he wanted to establish dominance in front of her.

"Hmph! My boss is also from the Core. Plus, this brat is only a newbie."

Atreus chatted a little with Lia. She asked him if he wanted to accompany her on a quest.

He refused and proceeded to move to the side. But he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Hello! I am Heron, your senior. Lia told me a lot about you. He! You must be on Cloud Nine after winning that small competition huh."

Atreus looked back and saw an idiot staring down at him. He clearly knew what was up. He sighed internally and asked the big buffoon a simple question.

"Have you ever won any 'small competition'?"

Heron was stumped at the question. He wanted to retort and say something but he had never really won any sect competition. He had slowly advanced internally to where he was today.

Atreus then continued. "There are more important things in life you know." He glanced at Lia out of the corner of his eyes and went away.

Heron stood there gob smacked. Lia initially was angry at Heron for making trouble with Atreus but after hearing the latter she was even more angry at him.

"What did he mean by that last sentence!" She thought.

Heron stood deep in thought as a sudden realization hit him.

"Ah! Sorry Lia but I don't think I would be able to accompany you for now. But don't worry I have already given your name to our group; they will help you if you have any trouble."

Heron went away, he had decided to prepare for the upcoming Inner Circle Competition. Lia stood there a little bumped out, she was really upset with Atreus.

Atreus on the other hand stood at the counter, he was giving the receptionist a hard time. The lady at the counter tried to persuade him once again, "Are you sure you want to do this mission?"

He simply nodded in return. The Lady heaved a sigh and stamped approved on a mission.

It read: "Spirit Horde Attack! Reinforcements required!"
