Chapter 98: Hidden forces
[Earth resistance] was an unusual trait as far as Alex was concerned since it probably referred to the ability to ignore the pressure of the ground pressing on you while you dug under it. This fit as well since zorah was actually a subterranean species most of the time feeding on the mineral deposits it finds to grow. Alex didn't see himself using the trait all that often but it was still nice to have none the less. The final trait Alex got from the meat however made him raise an eyebrow due to both it's name and the requirement to unlock it.
[Elder dragon] was the name of the trait and the requirement to unlock it was for Alex to consume meat that he had hunted himself from ten different species of elder dragons. This was a frankly insane requirement since the only reason Alex was able to even get the meat he did from zorah was because the elder ignored him until it was too late. Switch that scenario to any of the much smaller , faster and more than willing to turn him into paste at the first sign of aggression elders and the situation would end VERY differently.
With Alex's death in case the picture wasn't clear enough for you. This was obviously not the ideal scenario as far as Alex was concerned , thankfully he had plenty of time to prepare for those other elders appearances. The requirement for the [earth resistance] trait wasn't that hard since basically any animal known for digging often had it making it not that valuable. 'I should probably head back to astera before someone starts trying to figure out if I abandoned ship or not.' Alex thought before banking into a sharp knife and evening out when he was going the direction of astera.
It was a good thing he did too as the fifth fleet personnel had all just finished settling into their new accommodations and were looking for him. It wasn't that strange that they were either since he was the only part of astera that was totally different than the old world. A few of the people who had made the journey across the sea had even done so specifically to interact with Alex in some regard. This included a single member of a certain clan who worked as a spy for his village to warn them of approaching hunters.
This person was a human girl with fairly average and forgettable features that had short brown hair and brown eyes. Her name was Saya and after the guild had gotten the initial reports on Alex she had informed her clan of it. This raised a huge discussion as to what should be done about Alex since his very existence might threaten them as it may cause the rest of the worlds people to wonder if there existed other monsters like him. Should the guild start combing through the various villages to find another like him they would be exposed to the whole world.
For an isolationist secretive clan like theirs that held belief's counter to literally the rest of the people in the world such a scenario was horrifying. The matter was further exacerbated when the news that he had developed extra wings putting him in the elder dragon category showed up. Now rather than just silently making sure an "accident" befell Alex if he truly became the cause of such a thing the clan was forced to send one of their own in hopes of at least befriending Alex.
Thanks to their beliefs about monsters and elder dragons especially the mere thought of trying to assassinate a young elder dragon was the biggest heresy to them. Saya was beyond nervous after getting her stuff in order as she had no clue about Alex's personality besides that he was pretty friendly. Those looking for Alex heard him long before they saw him as the sound of his flight reached them and they all looked up to see his approaching from the air in the distance. His scales shone as the early morning sun were reflected off of him like they were looking at a huge statues made of volcanic glass.
