Chapter 154: Elemental clash
Alex didn't waste the opportunity he had been given and went on to attack the rest of the magma cores that had regenerated in the couple months since the first siege. The only magma core that was not smashed was the one on zorah's face mostly because going anywhere near it was a death sentence. The only disappointing thing was that there was only three total magma cores besides that one and Alex had already eaten one so he was done in no time at all. For the rest of the siege Alex spent his time tormenting zorah with the stalagmites overhead.
It was hardly a surprise then that the dragonater was the final straw that allowed them to divert zorah out to the open sea. Alex let out a mental sigh of relief once this was done since there weren't any way of life threatening events until iceborn took place. At that point Alex wouldn't be surprised if he could directly solve the problem of shara ishvala on his own. 'For now though I get to celebrate our victory while waiting the low rank kirin to show up.' Alex thought calmly as he flew towards the barricade to join up with the rest of astera's people.
He shot a brief glance over at the small cave that the admiral had been watching from but since he didn't see him there anymore Alex ignored it. There was a great celebration after that with copious amounts of alcohol and food. Alex got well and truly hammered during the event and many people were retelling the story of his fight with nergigante with each version getting more out of hand than the last. It was a good night all things considered as even the little one joined the festivities , even if it had no idea why they were celebrating.
The next day Alex flew out into a distant part of the ocean out of sight of astera before he unlocked the [variant pyrosis] trait. Immediately he felt his body heat up as the fire element made itself evident and began to clash with the water element in his body. Veins ruptured and repaired themselves under the barely contained power exploding in them where only his [enhanced healing] was keeping his body together. Blood rained down from him into the sea below but he simply couldn't spare the time to worry about that as he struggled to stay in the air where he was relatively safe.
Five minutes passed and the conflict in his body began to die down as the two opposing elements found a sort of neutral mixture of the two that was technically neither. 'I knew doing this away from astera was the right move.' Alex thought as he pushed water out of his scales to wash the blood off of him. Below Alex in the water several large shadows could be seen moving about , having no doubt been drawn to the spot by his rain of blood.
If Alex were in the water right now he would immediately recognize these monsters as the aquatic terrors that were known to attack ships passing overhead , legiacris. Huge slender reptiles with blue scales and a flared out sails on their necks like cobras as well as large bone protrusions that produced large amounts of electricity. Legiacris were nasty monsters to deal with even for experienced aquatic hunters and were widely considered equal on the food chain to rathalos and legiana. That was only true in shallow water however as in the deepest parts of the ocean roamed monsters so powerful that their smallest attacks created waves up to thirty feet high at the surface.
One such monster had been fought off beneath moga island and was later classified by the guild as ceadeus and was nearly the same size as zorah. None of these monsters were anywhere nearby however or Alex might have accidentally lured over a truly disastrous monster. Alex was surprised to see that he had unlocked a new trait from the system after the two opposing elements fused slightly. This trait was legendary ranked as well much to his surprise and was called [ mistosis] and basically gave him the ability to create a dense fog-like mist from his body.
