Chapter 30: Awakening - II
Roxana was sitting in the lecture hall, trying to concentrate in listening the lecture of Professor Edward or in short Sir. Ed, since he usually asked his students to call him Sir. Ed.
Roxana phone vibrates under the table, she looked at the professor and then quickly glances at her phone and saw Evelyn's text.
Evelyn : "Ro, I'll wait for you at the Cerise café."
Initially, she thought it was Asher, therefore she secretly read through the text, even at the risk of the professor finding. However, she knew deep in her heart it might not be his text, but she still anticipated it was him, thus when she realised it was Evelyn's her mood instantly fluctuate down in a second.
Roxana quickly stuffed her phone in her bag and tried to turned her attention back to the lecture.
However, soon her thought drifted back to Asher, she's not sure whether it's her imagination or something else. Since coming back from the beach two days ago, Asher started behaving rather oddly, he didn't call her nor pick up her call, therefore, she finds it weird and at the same time frustrating.
Who wouldn't be, they just got in a relationship three days ago and her boyfriend ghosted her.
One might wonder, why they didn't broke up.
Occasionally, she wonder whether he really serious about their relationship or he's just with her to pass his times.
"The deadline for the new assignment is next week," Roxana heard the professor announcement and she realised she was so absorbed in her thought, oblivious that the lecture had already over.
Roxana quickly stuffed her things in her bag and walked out of the lecture hall while walking and texting Evelyn simultaneously.
Suddenly, she felt someone gaze on her and instantly turned back. Since, yesterday she constantly felt something staring at her, but whenever she looked back, the gaze she felt, instantly disappeared like it was just her imagination.
The corridor was crowded with students, as Roxana peered through the crowd, however, nobody was looking at her, therefore, she feels weird and a bit uncomfortable.
Well, who wouldn't be if someone was stalking them.
Moreover, it was extremely difficult to disern the person who was watching her.
Hence, Roxana shrugged off her doubtful feeling and soon walked out of the campus, with a transparent umbrella above her head, since it was lightly raining and walked towards the direction of the café.
However, her footsteps halted when from the corner of her eyes, she spot Asher Mercedes-Benz car and she could slightly discern, an unfamiliar woman in a brown-hair brunet was sitting inside his car.
Roxana felt a prick in her heart at the scene in front of her, however, she quickly composed herself, telling herself to trust in Asher. The feeling she had at the moment is a bit complicated, although she trusted him, but it doesn't mean she's undoubtedly fine, with him being seen with another girl.
Therefore, she soon resumes her walk and pretend she didn't noticed his car. Although, she could faintly discern his sharp gaze from the corner of her eyes, her hand tightly grasped the umbrella handle and her heartbeat instantly accelerated. However, she quietly walked away and completely disregard his gaze and walked away.
Soon, after she reached the café, Roxana realised that a certain someone didn't seem to followed her, and she felt a bit unhappy and frustrated.
Roxana gloomily entered the café and spot Evelyn in the corner near the tilted glasses window with Rian. They were flirting with each other, while Rian feed Evelyn a desert with a spoon, both lost in their own world, to which Roxana find it grossing.
Frustratingly, Roxana walked over and abruptly put down her bags in the table and sat down, which startled them both.
"What's wrong with you?" they both asked her simultaneously.
"Nothing," Roxana stated and took out her phone and scroll through Asher number, when his call came, she immediately hang his call and then without a second thought, she blocked his number.
Then, she turned to the counter and shout, "Angela, a cup of espresso, please."
Unknowingly, Roxana and Evelyn became friend with Angela, the barista at Cerise café, since they both usually like to chill out in this café.
"Sure, wait a minute," the girl named Angela shouted back.
Roxana nodded and turned to Rian and Evelyn, and noticed that both of them are staring at her.
Evelyn gestured at her face and said, "Do you know, that your whole face say, don't mess with me, my mood is off."
"Don't mind her, she's always like this," Rian point out and instantly received a sharp glared from Roxana.
Evelyn slapped his shoulder and glared at him,"Rian!"
Rian just shrugged his shoulders, "What? I'm telling the truth."
Evelyn, then turned to Roxana, "Roxana, don't mind him, I just want to ask you. Are you going to the fresher party tonight?"
"No," Roxana instantly responded back.
Evelyn was about to asked her reason for her refusal, when Rian phone rang, then, they both saw him picked up the call.
"Hello"
"She's not here," Roxana and Evelyn noticed his voice was a bit livid when he speak, like he dislike the person on the other of the phone.
"Why don't you call her yourself?"
Instantly, Roxana realised the person who called Rian. Therefore, she immediately took Rian phone from his hand.
Instead of answering the phone, which was pressed in her ear, she was quite and didn't uttered any single word.
Rian : "..."
Evelyn : "..."
The both turned to looked at each other and were surprised at of Roxana behaviour. However, they realised why her mood was a bit off.
Meanwhile, Roxana was quite pissed, thus she didn't speak.
"Can't you just give the...?" Roxana heard Asher annoyed voice abruptly halt from the other end of the phone.
"Roxana," Roxana then heard him called her name softly, in contrast to his livid voice earlier.
"Can you come out for a bit?" she heard him asked gently.
Initially, Roxana unhappiness had disappeared after she heard his gentle voice, but it didn't last long.
"Asher, we have to go," Roxana heard a female voice at the other end and instantly hung up the phone and put down the phone with a bang on the table, reached out to the coffee cup which was place on the table while she was on the phone and took a sip to calm her angered and then turned to looked at Evelyn.
"I'll go to the party tonight."
Rian : ".... "
Evelyn : "...."
