Chapter 2: Music Cue
In my mind, I knew that this was my first time to step on this type of stage as an artist of our own name; but in my heart, as sappy as it sounds, it felt like I was returned to a place where I belonged — like a jigsaw piece fitting perfectly into place.
This time, I wasn't a back-up dancer for our sunbaes but I was an idol — a newly debuted idol — that's proud to sing our very own debut song after years of struggling in that melona-colored basement.
Stepping onto this stage with my members definitely wasn't what I imagined. No — it was so much better.
Our matching white clothes, the shiny black floor, the crazy lights and screens all around, and the microphones stuck to our cheeks. Everything just felt crazy and the craziest part out of everything else wasn't my thudding chest or my bleached hair. It was actually the crowd.
It didn't feel real yet that all of these people below the stage came to see us. A group of guys who dreamed of dancing and singing for them right now.
The staffs and our manager told us to standby and interact a bit with the audience before starting. My members and I were enthusiastically saying hi to everyone when my eyes suddenly met yours.
It felt like the world suddenly turned silent and all I could hear was my own heart; beating as if it wanted to jump out and go to you.
It had been years since we last saw each other and I never could have imagined that we'd be seeing each other again this way.
You still smiled the way that I rememered. Your hair was shorter now but you still looked so bright.
I felt myself smile even wider and waved like a child. You laughed in the way where you tilt your head back and waved with your arms above your head.
It was like a had superhuman hearing because even among the noise, I could still hear you shout for me.
You were the start of all of this; and it was time to pay you back with a performance of a lifetime.
