Chapter 22: Chapter 17: The Phantom Assault [3]
*BOOM*

*BOOM*
When Elena and Hai entered the lab, the place was huge and had several different objects and sections.
Everything was organized and in the right place.
Now, all of that is no more.
The whole place turned into an ice tundra.
The floor, tubes, objects, flasks, desks, ceiling, the things inside the tubes, everything was as frozen as ice can be.
All that remains is Elena on the side watching her young master toy with a big monster.
The monster is bigger than a house, it has around 50 meters in height when standing.
The thing looks like a salamander, a giant lizard that spews lava.
The thing is dark ash gray in color and has small cracks on its skins where lava flows through.
As the thing uses lava, it should be able to easily overpower Hai or at least give him a hard time, right?
*BOOOM*
*ROOOOAAAAARRRR*
The salamander roared pitifully while looking at its missing front leg.
Hai who was floating waved his hand and the giant metal claw coming from the ground that was holding the salamander's leg, tossed it aside and dematerialized itself.
Hai controlled his metal boots which he made and flew towards the salamander who is starting to become scared of him.
*ROOOOOAAAAARRRR*
In one last attempt to try to resist against this vile guy, the salamander's throat swelled in size and then, the salamander spewed blue lava towards Hai.
Hai raised an eyebrow seeing the lava's color but wasn't scared.
He raised his left hand slightly and a blue ball of cold frost air formed above his palm.
He lazily threw it in the lava's direction and waited.
The ball collided with the lava and there was an immediate reaction.
One would expect the lava to overpower Hai's ice, however, that is only if it was normal ice and if this was a battle without any magical knowledge.
Hai's magic is something rather interesting.
The ball of cold frost air he made had more to it than just ice. It had a technique woven behind it. Hai basically made it in a way that his attack will follow the technique he put in it when it lands.
The technique he put in it is something he called "circle". It's a simple technique based in the concepts of circles and paradoxes that generates infinites results or situations from only one point.
Hai's technique basically will freeze the lava and when the lava melts the ice, the technique will cast itself again. This process will repeat itself until the lava is frozen; the mana on the attack run out or Hai will for the attack to stop.
*SHATTER*
The salamander watched with horror in its eyes as its most powerful attack was frozen over and shattered into nothingness.
Seeing that the salamander wasn't going to attack anymore, Hai flew towards its head.
He stopped a few meters away from it and looked directly on its eye.
"I'm curious about something. Can you understand me?" He asked while pointing to himself. The salamander seemed rather intelligent while fighting him, so he was just curious if it could understand him.
"…" The salamander obviously didn't say anything in response to his question.
"Well, I already expe-"
*GROWL*
The salamander growled at him.
Hai stopped what he was going to say and looked at it with curiosity.
"Do you really understand me? If you do, growl twice."
*GROWL*
*GROWL*
" °o° " Hai's mouth opened like a fish.
It's his first time seeing an intelligent salamander.
Then, a rare twinkle appeared in his eyes.
The salamander shivered when it saw the bad man smiling evilly while looking at itself.
It wanted to run away so badly.
It wanted its mommy!
It didn't even want to fight against him in the beginning but this crazy guy didn't care and simply beat the shit out of it.
He even tore off a leg!
He's the embroilment of evilness!
Hai not caring about the salamander's thoughts, made another metal claw on the ground and brought the leg he had severed before.
"You can regenerate yourself back, can't you?"
The salamander nodded slowly.
Hai smiled innocently.
"Then hurry up. We don't have all night."
The salamander's eye started to leak small rivers of lava.
It was crying.
"Hubby, please don't bully the poor thing like that. Look at how pitiful it is." Elena said while walking closer to both Hai and the salamander.
Hai looked at her and then turned back to the salamander.
"Nah~ I'm not bullying anyone. It wasn't even me who landed the first hit. This is all self-defense."
Elena smiled wryly beneath her mask at her young master's shamelessness.
The salamander looked at him with a look of someone who was wronged.
Hai pointed at the salamander.
"Anyway, be grateful." He pointed at Elena. "This angel has asked me to spare you from your doom, hence you shall have only the pain, and not the death part." He explained while looking towards a certain direction.
The salamander looked at him blankly and then looked at Elena.
It shivered when Elena looked back. A murderous aura could be felt oozing from her.
Suddenly, the salamander didn't think that Hai was that bad.
After some minutes, the salamander had regenerated its leg back and was in topmost condition.
Hai nodded seeing this and then turned to the big door where it came from.
"Alright, from now onwards, your name shall be Chilly."
Both Elena and the salamander turned to look at him with questioning gazes.
"What?" He asked when he felt their confusion.
"Hubby, don't you think that this name is a bit…"
"Terrible? Horrible? Something coming from someone that has no naming sense?" Hai suggested with a relaxed tone.
"Er…" Elena didn't know what to say. Does she affirm or denies her young master suggestions? They all are right but she doesn't want to hurt him.
"Well, they are all of it. Being named by me is a punishment when I don't waste two braincells to think. You don't think that this big guy here will walk away with losing only one leg after it tried to kill me, do you?" He questioned while side-glancing at the salamander.
"…"
"…"
"…"
Nobody said anything.
"Alright, Chilly, guide us. Take us to where is the center of this damn place."
Hai started floating and did a small metal platform for Elena to float on.
*GROWL*
Without any choice, the salamander surrendered to its fate and went back to the big door where it came from.
Hai and Elena floated right after.

"Okay, big brain time. This is the core of this whole building, isn't?" Hai asked while gesturing forwards.
Ahead of the group was a simple large space with one big hole in it.
The hole was a simple hole.
Aside from the fact that it probably led to the planet's core or somewhere close to it.
How does Hai know about it?
The seemingly bottomless hole with some strange energy around it might be a huge giveaway.
The salamander just nodded. It wasn't sure about what this hole is but it knows that it feels fear for whatever is in there.
*SIGH*
<Oy system. Be useful, will you?>
Elena's ears perked up when she heard her young master's thoughts inside her head.
<[What does this magnanimous, superb and wonderful host of mine wishes from this lowly one?]>
<It's me who makes the jokes. But anyway, this shit is related to the world's will, isn't it?>
<[I can't answer. Host hasn't enough authority for me to answer this question.>]
<I see… How about a game?>

<It's called: "Answer the young master". It's a simple game where you win by just answering my question. Simple, right?>
<[Host, this kind of thing has no effect on me.]>

Hai got out of his thoughts and started to walk towards the hole.
Elena behind him was flabbergasted.
It's her first-time hearing this "system" whom her young master talked to and by their conversation, it seemed that they have known each other for a long time.
She is also curious about what the "runs" this system said means.
But for now, she is going to keep quiet as they still have a mission.
Hai walked on the dirt floor with unhurried steps and analyzed everything while he was approaching the hole.
'This energy feels familiar yet foreigner.
He had felt this energy before however, it was at low, really low levels.
He had felt it around the protagonist and his harem.
'The world's will's energy?'
Hai stopped around 10 meters away from the hole.
His hair stood on end.
It was as if his instinct was warning him to not go closer.
"Heh~" He looked mischievously ahead.
"You know~ If you hadn't screwed me over so many times, I wouldn't have noticed that it was you, don't you?" He asked while looking towards below his feet, as if looking to something distant.
He took a step closer to the hole.
Suddenly, his spine felt a chill that even him couldn't say it wasn't cold.
However, he once again ignored it.
He kept stepping closer and closer to the hole while the sensation of dread kept increasing severalfold.
Then…
*TAP*
He arrived at the edge of the hole was.
He looked below and saw a really deep tunnel.
However, he could see something shining at the very bottom of the tunnel.
"The planet's core, huh." He muttered out aloud.
<[Host, I think it would be wise to step back.]>
Hai didn't pay any heed to the system and closed his eyes.
"Hum~"
After scanning the place with all the means he knew about, Hai opened his eyes and looked at where the center or middle of the hole is.
*VOOOOOOMMMMMM*
A pale blue light mixed with grey at its edge started to emanate from Hai's whole body.
The pressure on Hai's body increased exponentially.
He even felt traces of rage.
"Heh~" For the first time in a long time, he let out a playful smirk while enjoying the world's will's struggle.
Extending his arm towards the center of the hole, Hai made his action.
"Null." He muttered and the pale light mixed with gray turned into a beam of white light and shoot towards the center of the hole.
*ZOOOM*
The beam hit the "air" and suddenly, the air started cracking.
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
The whole hole was "cracked" almost as if there was a glass panel above it.
*DRIP*
*DRIP*
*DRIP*
Blood started to come out of Hai's eyes, ears, mouth and nose.
However, there was a smile on his face.
*SHATTER*
The hole "broke", it shattered into small pieces and vanished into nothingness.
The hole vanished without a trace.
Suddenly, Hai, Elena, Chilly, Hong Li-Wei, Stella, Ye Chen, everyone in the China Federation felt a strange sensation.
The ones who noticed it the most were Hai and his group.
Elena looked at Chilly and it seemed more "real" than before, more imponent, more scary.
It gave off the sensation of something very real and that you don't want to mess with.
It felt as if everyone and everything in the world lost their "pink glasses" when looking at things.
Hai's smile widened seeing this.
"Gotcha, you little b*tch." He muttered.
At the same time, Hong Kong's energy went out and the city was engulfed by the cold darkness of the night.
Tonight was marked to be one of the most memorable for those who knew what happened today.
