Chapter 6: This...This is mana?
"I...I feel weird." Nia fidgeting turns to Rose and Luna.
"What did I just drink?"
Rose noticing Nia's slight panic stiffens before quickly putting her at ease with her words. "Don't worry the drink is what I told you about before remember Its called Magical Lemonade. What do you feel right now?"
"I feel strange like this there is something all around me that wasn't there before. It's sticking to me enveloping me. I do not know if this sounds right but its like I'm submerged in a heavy but light substance. Does that sound right?"
"What you are feeling right now, that substance so to speak is mana." Luna chimed in.
"That's right you are currently feeling what every person feels at Rank E since they can feel mana but have yet begun to absorb it, so that feeling you have now will stay until you reach Rank C after that mana will feel no different than air." Rose said clearing up any misunderstandings that Nia may have.
"This...This is mana?" Nia asked.
"Yes, that's mana." Luna said.
"Is there a reason that I need to be able to sense mana and if there is, I would take a guess that I need to be more than just Rank E."
Rose's eyes narrow. 'Our cutie can certainly become sharp even when distracted, but that is a good thing. She's even trying to not be antsy when feeling mana for the first time it's pretty impressive. Usually someone that just enters E rank with no practice or warning freak out more like their going to drown but she was just uncomfortable.'
"...There is."
"Is there a reason why I must be given something to start progressing the realms instead of practicing without my knowing, or is it knowledge I'm not allowed to know until whatever meeting is tomorrow?"
"It is something you will come to learn tomorrow but I can tell you this being E Rank is just the minimum requirement for what is to come Nia, if you want what's best for you so I recommend that once you are finished eating we work on you manipulating your mana to get you to D Rank."
Nia sensing the seriousness in her words decides to hold off on anymore questions about what Rose and Luna won't tell her for now and just nods her head.
"Sure"
Finishing her food Nia squirms and turns to Luna. Sensing her stare Luna stats to explain, "Let us start with how you become D Rank. You are considered D Rank when you can manipulate mana to flow through you getting rid of the submerged feeling. To do that lets start with you sitting down in a meditative position and closing your eyes."
Following Luna's example Nia sits cross legged closing her eyes.
"Now that your eyes are closed focus on the sensation of mana surrounding you. Now imagine the mana flowing through your body." Luna said with a proud smile.
Knitting her brows Nia doesn't understand the second part of what Luna said. Rose noticing Nia's expression sighs understanding that Luna's explanation was severely lacking. "Luna you have to be more specific, she can't imagine something that was completely foreign to her until a few minutes ago let alone have it flow through her."
"Oh~...But I don't know how else to explain it." Luna tilts her head in confusion.
Rose facepalms as she hears Luna's words. "Although your words are not wrong, they are too vague."
After hearing Rose, Luna finally understands where she went wrong in her explanation.
Luna turns to Nia who is still trying to manipulate mana says to her. "Nia, Stop for a sec."
Nia who hears those words stops and looks at her but before she could say anything Luna speaks again. "Close your eyes again and take a deep breath."
Seeing Nia take a deep breath Luna continues, "Alright keep taking deeps breaths and feel the mana in the air go in and out of your body."
Nia focusing on her breathing notices that it has gotten slightly easier to breathe after a few minutes.
"Good! You're getting the hang of it. That feeling you have when you're breathing the mana in, now imagine that sensation not just in your mouth but all of the pores in your body.
Nia who starts doing that has trouble at first, slowly starts acclimating to having mana go through her pores slowly getting rid of the submerged feeling.
After a few hours Nia breathes out slowly, opening her eyes she wipes the sweat off her forehead. Nia looks around and sees her two maids talking to each other. Standing up she walks to them. They stop their conversation and turn to her and Luna asks, "How do you feel now?"
Answering Luna, Nia said. "I still feel submerged but the sensation is not as strong. It feels like the sensation has halved. How long has it been since I started?"
"It has been around 8 hours since you started meditating." Rose said.
*Yawn
"Its been that long I didn't even notice." Nia tiredly said.
"Well it has been a long day and it is night now. So lets clean up and get ready for bed."
Rose goes to get new clothes to sleep in and Luna goes start the bath. Nia takes a look around and finally gets a good look at her room well more like apartment. It has a wide open area with 3 separate rooms one to the bathroom, one to Rose and Luna's room, and one to Nia's room. Rose comes back with clothes to wear to sleep.
"Alright the bath is ready. Come on Nia and get in for a quick bath."
After a 'quick' bath that took more than an hour of Rose and Luna inspecting and cleaning Nia's body with great vigor, Nia came out of the bath more exhausted than manipulating her mana for more than 8 hours. Out in the open area in her apartment-like room. Wearing a large black T-shirt and black and pink gym shorts Nia says goodnight.
"Night Rose and Luna" *Yawn*
"Goodnight Nia~" Rose and Luna both look at Nia then each other with a hidden glint in their eyes.
Nia now laying down in her quiet room and soft bed looks up at the ceiling reflecting on everything that has happened today.
'I died today. I can't really get over the shock of dying, It happened so fast that I don't even know how I died. I remember starting Alt-Line on release then nothing, I'm just in the body of a baby in a room filled with hundreds of beautiful woman in maid outfits and other babies. Then we are put in and empty room filled with marking that light up and after some hours of pain all of us are now six I think. I then met those two sexy maids Rose and Luna, the only people who have shown me warmth and kindness other than Nia(sister) back on Earth in my previous life. They told me about magic and taught me about cultivation levels in the Mortal Ranks. They gave me a warmth I thought I'd never have again. I want to stay with them. I will stay with them.'
'Nia your name can be spoken with care again I hope you can hear it. 'Was Nia's last thoughts as she drifted off to sleep.
