Chapter 2: Chapter 1

During class, Sally mostly spaced out while she mentally reversed how to interact with her new classmate. Even thus she was supposed to consider them as equal, none of them, apart from Marry, was close to her level. There were a few of her classmates whose aura stood out, however, they did not compare to anyone she had trained with previously.

The Bell Rang right on time to indicate the lunch hours.

"I'm so happy that we are in the same class!" Marry said, sounding excited.

Unlike herself, Marry has been attending normal school since grade 3. According to her father, Marry did not have the qualification for intensive training as she did.

"I know, who would have thought." Sally calmly replied.

At Azalea, classes are first separated by grade then from grade two onward the students are divided by rank level and take different classes according to their career path. In some instances, two grades can be merged into one if there aren't enough students.

This school was created for those who's auras have surpassed the norms or wish to increase it. A person's aura is a phenomenon that is very close to their life force making each aura unique, however, if used unwisely your spell may end up consuming your life-force instead. Most citizens like to refer to Azalea as a military school. It's not surprising as most of its graduating students chose to enroll or to follow the medical path.

"Plus next week the teams will be formed!" Marry Brushed her blond silky hair away from her face.

"Team?" Sally looks at Marry slightly confused.

"You don't know? Starting year 3 the school makes each student pass some tests and determines who is best compatible with each other." Marry explained." From there on you and your teammate will pretty much share everything academic wise"

Sally remembered hearing that most successful pairs in the military did come from this academy. It did make sense to start training together early on to learn how to fight in a pair with little verbal, she thought.

" I had forgotten about that." She said while looking outside the window.

"Seriously! I don't even know what would have happened if you had come after the pairing. I mean I wouldn't be valid any longer." Mary let out a small laugh.

"Honestly, Marry, who else is capable of matching me" Sally force on a smile while discreetly stealing a piece of fish from Marry's lunch box.

"You're so cute when you smile, I guess I can let it pass. " Marry giggles.

The girl finished their lunch while chit-chatting. It's been forever since she had been able to spend quality time with Marry.

"Well, see you later." Marry looked at Sally with a concerned look, but said nothing.

Ah... there she goes again.... did I mess up?

Without turning around, Sally felt someone sneaking up on her. Instinctively she took hold of their arm before they could touch her and threw them over her shoulder.

"What the-," a surprised boy said before hitting the floor on his back.

"Sally!" She heard Marry calling out to her in the distance but did not remove her gaze from the boy. He's dangerous, she thought.

The boy looks up at Sally bewildered. For a brief moment, she noticed a tint of purple in his blue eyes; for some reason, the unknown colour sent a chill down her spine.

"What was that for?" The boy smiled, quickly placing his shades back on. When she noticed him trying to get back up, she stepped on him to ensure he stayed down.

"Who said you could get up?" Sally said with an ice-cold voice. Before she could ask more, Sally was pushed down by Marry.

"What the heck are you doing?!" Marry yelled at Sally.

"Ho... I'm sorry I didn't mean to." Sally smiled at Marry before getting back up. She then proceeded to face the boy and owed down.

"I'm sorry, sometimes I act without thinking," She said with an apologetic tone

"Really?" He grins.

"Real fact. Next time please try not to surprise me." The small girl smiled and walked away.

"You are crazy Sally, you know that right" Marry followed Sally.

"Sally..." The boy stood up and looked at Sally walking away. "Interesting" He let out a small laugh.

"If you would have injured him outside an official match you would have gotten detention" Marry scolded Sally.

"I'll keep this in mind, however they can't fault me for using self-defence," Sally said while remembering her father's words. "Or do you expect me to let someone grab me from behind and do nothing?" she added.

Marry sigh and said " I guess not. Considering your background they may be more accepting of this but others could take advantage of this if you're not careful enough"

"I know Marry, there are many strategies to take down someone," She said with a cold voice.

Sally couldn't remember how many times she was scolded for not taking the quick way to end a battle. "Allowing someone to think they have the advantage will boost their confidence making it harder to crush them." she said in a low tone.

"I don't think you should let others hear you say that." Marry sight in defeat. There was no way to reason with her. "I just wish you'd learn to relax more, and act like a kid. At least when we are together"

Marry's word stayed in Sally's head for the great of the day. While she knew she wasn't acting like a normal tenager, she couldn't understand why it bothered her.

As long as people think I fit in, where's the problem? She thought. Maybe Marry wasn't her ally after all. Maybe Marry wanted her to be someone else; like everyone, she has come to know. Sally quickly cast aside that thought. If she couldn't rely on Marry then who was she supposed to believe in. After all, Marry has been the only one who has ever truly shown her kindness.

Sally had to wonder if the sensation se felt was known as Fear. Although she was curious, she wouldn't dare to ask anyone, for it could be recognise as a weakness to exploit.
