Chapter 16: Chapter 16 - Unexpected Meeting
The next day, after the barbeque party until midnight. All the ladies were still asleep and hadn't gotten up from their beds, that included Melissa who usually cooked breakfast in the morning. Therefore, this morning after I exercised, I cooked my own breakfast, and well, of course it was the instant noodles which happened to be in the food cabinet.
It's been a long time since I've eaten instant noodles this early in the morning, it reminds me of my past life when I was still unemployed.
No, wait. Am I working now?
While thinking such stupid things, I decided to turn on the TV and watch the news while eating my breakfast.
"The suicide bombing that occurred at 11:00pm last night at the Westel Supermarket in the western district left 26 people dead and dozens injured. The Justice Association said that the suicide bombing attack was the work of the Aldiermo terrorist network from the Midle East district of Mainland. The reason why they did this is still unclear, but the Justice Association said they will announce it as soon as they find out."
Aldiermo? I know those guys. They were practically the first villains of the novel, if I remember correctly, their first action was about a month before the protagonist arrived at the Imperial Capital. This is too soon, the protagonist should still have more than 6 months before arriving at the Imperial Capital, that means it should still be a long time before they do this.
Well, I guess that's not too surprising. Given that what I'm doing is also much different from the storyline in the novel, so it's not surprising that things happen faster or longer than I thought, or even that they don't happen.
If so, that means the protagonist could also arrive at the Imperial Capital much sooner?
Well, I don't give a f*ck. Whatever happens, it happens.
"What did you eat?"
"Hmm...?"
I turned to the source of the voice, and could see Melissa walking towards me. She then stopped right next to me and looked down at my bowl of instant noodles.
By the way, she was still wearing her pajamas. Her pajamas were black and full of crescent moon motifs.
"It's so empty, why don't you add eggs or onions?"
She asked that while furrowing her brows as she looked at my bowl of instant noodles.
"Well.... I'm not very good at it."
"..."
Melissa just stayed silent as she looked at me with an annoyed look that seemed to say " You......."
Seeing her like that, I tried to change the subject.
"Seeing you in pajamas like this feels quite refreshing, I'd like it better if you wore that while making breakfast."
"...."
Hearing my words, Melissa's gaze at me grew even sharper. I pretended not to see her and turned my gaze to the TV.
"*Sigh* Don't try to change the subject, just say that you're too lazy to do it."
I then returned my gaze to her, and said.
"I'm not trying to change the subject you know? I was just thinking that I'd rather you wear those pajamas while making breakfast than your maid outfit."
I said that in a tone that sounded as natural as possible, I really meant it.
Hearing my words, Melissa flinched slightly, she then looked away from me before shaking her head, after which she spoke with a bit of anger.
"....Wait here for a while, I'll make an omelet for you to eat with your noodles. I'll be right back."
"Oh, okay. Can you make coffee as well?"
"Don't ask so much! Just sit there quietly."
After Melissa said that furiously, she then walked into the kitchen and prepared to cook.
By the way, the dining room and kitchen at our place were the connected type, so I could see and talk to Melissa while she was cooking.
I could see her beautiful back and flowing hair clearly from the dining table. That's why I wanted her to wear her pajamas while cooking, this view could make me feel refreshed every morning.
In less than 3 minutes, Melissa returned with a plate of omelet and 2 cups of drinks. After placing the omelet and coffee cups in front of me, she then sat down next to me while drinking her tea and watch TV.
I then tried the omelet that Melissa made, and well, it tasted good as ever. Come to think of it, Melissa hasn't had any harsh words for me lately. I also sensed that Melissa's anger was just outward anger, she wasn't really angry.
I mean, whenever I tell her to do something, she will sometimes reply angrily, but she still do what i told her. It seems like my efforts all this time to make her trust me were worth it.
"Hiro."
In the middle of thinking about all that, Melissa spoke to me.
"Yeah?"
She looked at me and asked while resting her chin on her hand.
" When is your match today?"
"Around 10 I think, before lunch."
"Hmm...Well, don't lose, okay?"
Well, don't lose, okay?"
"Of course, and don't forget to sleep with me after I win, okay?"
I said that while grinning, and Melissa immediately turned her face away from me with a "Hmph.."
Seeing her reaction, I smiled. If this was the old Melissa she would probably curse me with harsh words in an instant. Out of curiosity, I decided to ask her.
"By the way, why are you wearing pajamas?"
"Hmm? Oh, it's because I was thirsty earlier and decided to drink some tea in the kitchen first, once Lady Alicia comes, I'll be on my way to put on my maid uniform."
"I don't think you need to do that, I'm sure Alicia won't mind either."
" No way I' m going to cook breakfast in my pajamas, it'll look really weird."
"It looks really refreshing to me."

We continued the stupid argument until Alicia came and Melissa finally went to her room before returning to prepare breakfast for Alicia.
Since my breakfast was finished, I left Alicia and Melissa in the dining room and went to my room to prepare myself.
After taking a shower I immediately put on my pilot suit, today I planned to leave early to the arena because I wanted to check the new weapons that I was ordered to install on my Mecha.
After making sure everything was properly equipped, I then left my room and walked to the dining room to say goodbye to the ladies.
When I got there, I could see my mom, Luna, and aunt Julia already sitting at the dining table with Alicia and Melissa. Apparently they were already awake, because the position of their chairs was opposite the entrance, my mother and Alicia immediately realized my presence.
My mom instantly asked with a surprised face.
"Hiro, where are you going?"
"I'm going to the Arena, mom. I have a match this morning."
My mom said that with a troubled expression, however, she seemed to remember something and got up from her seat. She then opened her arms wide and said.
"Then, hug mom before you go."
Knowing this would happen, I walked over to her and hugged her until she was satisfied. After a while, my mom was satisfied and she finally let me go.
" Alright, that's enough. Be careful, okay? Don't get hurt."
"I know, mom. You don't have to worry."
I then turned towards the others and said.
"I'll go then."
"Take care."
"Careful and get home quickly, you have to take Lady Alicia and me in the afternoon."
"Bye Hiro, make sure you win."
"Goodbye, Hiro. As Hermia said, don't get hurt."
After saying goodbye to them, I picked up my car from the garage and went to the warehouse to greet the workers there before driving my car to the Arena.

Before I go to the arena, I stop by the Hanz workshop to buy a new battery for my pilot suit.
"Here you go, Sir Hiro. 12 new batteries, just like you requested."
Hanz said that while handing me a case of soladinium batteries that I had ordered yesterday.
" Thanks, Hanz."
"That battle yesterday was great, Sir Hiro. Although your enemy's Mecha clearly had much better power, you managed to defeat it quickly. That's amazing."
"So you know. Well, it was just a coincidence, if that last thing hadn't happened, I might have taken a long time to defeat him."
"In other words, even if you didn't burn his hand you could still defeat him?"
"Yeah, but it might take a long time."
"Hahaha, that's a lot of confidence, Sir Hiro."
No, it's not just confidence. I do believe I can defeat that guy even if something like yesterday doesn't happen, but I might need a long time to penetrate his armor. That's why I ordered new armaments for my Mecha.
After finishing the payment, I said goodbye to Hanz and drove my car towards the Arena.
After arriving at the arena, I parked my car before heading to the arena workshop to check on my Mecha. A staff member met me when I arrived at the entrance for participants, and guided me to the workshop. We walked for about 10 minutes and arrived at a very large place,
The moment I stepped inside, my footsteps immediately stopped, it was because the scenery I saw was incredible for a Mecha maniac like me, inside that place, wherever I looked, I could see there were Mecha everywhere, the Mechas were apparently being repaired in the Mecha Hangar at this place.
Actually, the name is not Mecha Hangar, but Mecha Port. Basically, they work like hangars for fighter planes, so I sometimes call them Mecha Hangars.
"Sir Denzelnas, what's the matter?"
Perhaps because I stopped for too long, the Staff asked me. Out of curiosity, I asked him.
"I was just thinking, are there really this many participants in the tournament?"
I asked that because the number of Mecha I saw in this place felt far more than the participants in this tournament.
"Ah, actually, not only the participants can repair or upgrade their Mecha in this place, as long as a pilot has a pilot's license and a clean criminal record, they will be accepted here. Official pilots can even repair their Mecha in this workshop for free."
"Really?"
"Yes, Sir Denzelnas. After all, this workshop is managed by the Imperial government, so Official Pilots can repair their Mechas here for free."
"That's awesome."
Being an Official pilot seems promising, huh. That is if you can ignore the restrictions they have to follow.
Before long, I finally arrived at the Hangar where my Mecha was. No wait, I mean the Port.
" Here is your Mecha, Sir Denzelnas. As you ordered yesterday, we've installed an Expendable Blade with a heatable blade, and a pair of 50mm cannons filled with armor-piercing rounds. You can check it yourself, if there are any anomalies or such, please call me or another staff."
The staff then left me alone after saying that.
Before I checked my Mecha, something else caught my attention, it was the Mecha in Han- I mean, the Port next to me. Since there was only empty space as a barrier between one Port to another, I could see the Mecha in the Port beside me.
The Mecha that was there was Athena's Mecha, she was the top participant in the current Tournament. Honestly, I was curious who the pilot of that Mecha was, but since it looked like the pilot wasn't there. I decided to look at it again later after I finished checking my Mecha.
I then walked over to my Mecha, opened its hatch door, and went inside. By the way, the Mecha will automatically kneel when you think of opening the hatch, if someday I manage to install an AI chip on my Mecha, then I can enter my Mecha more dramatically.
I immediately started the Neural Connection and then opened the armament state, and I could see something new, which was the Thermal Blade and 50mm AP Cannon.
I decided to try the Thermal Blade, There are 3 levels of the blade's heat, for now I'll just try the first one. I then took it out, and the blade came out of both my hands, I tried to heat it up, and sure enough, the edge or blade instantly turned a blue color, and I could feel it heating up.
I don't know how sharp it is, but if I were to judge by its appearance alone, it's already pretty good.
After that I also tried taking out the cannons, and both cannons appeared from the palm of my Mecha's hand. I could take them out one by one, or take them both out at the same time, but I could only reload these cannons once each, which meant I only had 4 bullets.
I decided that they were both properly installed before I disconnected the Neural Connection and exited my Mecha. I hope the money I spent to install the weapons was not wasted.
After exiting my Mecha, I took off my helmet and decided to go to the waiting room to wait for my match to start. However, just a few steps after I took off my helmet, someone called out to me.
"Sir Denzelnas!?"
I then turned towards the direction of the voice and could see a pilot wearing a pilot suit that looked like the light armor of a knight, only more modern and feminine looking.
The voice was familiar, it felt like I had seen that pilot suit before too.
Ah! I remember.
"Miss Moshinsky?"
The person then took off her helmet.
"Yes, it's me."
She said as she smiled at me, since she was in Athena Port that means....
"Miss Moshinsky, don't tell me you're Athena pilot?"
"Ah. ... Yeah, that's true."
She said that while smiling shyly.
My mind had no idea that she was Athena's pilot.
"By the way, Sir Denzelnas. Since you're here, that means the Denzelnas that was fighting yesterday was you, wasn't it?"
"Yep, it was me."
" I knew it, it was you. Yesterday was great, you managed to defeat Jody in a short time. Even broke both of his hands."
Jody? She knew him? If I recall, yesterday the host did say that the Lancelot was a member of the Athena squad.
"It was just a coincidence, Miss Moshinsky."
"You don't have to be so humble, Sir Denzelnas. You're quite famous since that fight, you know?"
"Really?"
I don't know about that.
"Yes, there are even some people who call you the Gray Cutter."
She said that with an excited face.
Uwah, that sounds really cringe. Who gave me a nickname like that?
Since I didn't want to talk about that stupid nickname anymore, I tried to change the subject.
"Miss Moshinsky, are you also fighting today?"
"Yes, today I'll be fighting the last match, are we on the same fight schedule?"
"No, I'll be fighting at 10, maybe the 3rd or 4th match."
Hearing my words, Miss Moshinsky let out a sigh of relief.
" That' s good, I wouldn't want to fight you if I could, I hope we can both make it to the finals and have a match there."
She's pretty confident, huh.
"Yeah, hopefully we can meet in the finals, Miss Moshinsky."
"Um, make sure to get through to the finals, Sir Denzelnas. And I won't lose to you."
She said that with a serious face, I didn't expect that this kind-looking girl could be so competitive.
I then smiled at her and said.
"Well, since my match is about to start, I'll be heading to my waiting room, see you later, Miss Moshinsky."
"Yes, I pray for your victory, Sir Denzelnas."
"Thanks."
After saying that, I waved back and walked away from her.
I then heard her shout "I'm looking forward to our match!" from behind, and I just waved my hand without looking at her.
Fighting her later will probably be a really troublesome match, especially with the current status of my Mecha. But well, I will find a way to do it. I want to win the prize anyway, particularly after hearing that the winner of this tournament also gets money.
That's because my future plans involve a lot of money.
