Chapter 4: Time After

A sweaty young man can be seen in a well equipped gym currently on a treadmill, on the treadmill the speed displayed was '15 km/h' but the most shocking thing was his time spent was almost three hours, the distance it said he traveled was almost forty three kilometers. The teen was drenched in sweat, running while he was rapidly breathing. This continued for about four more minutes before he hurriedly lowered the speed. After a few seconds he stopped and placed his hands on his hips and his face directed towards the ceiling, he was taking gulps of air with squinted eyes. He stepped of the treadmill slowly and started doing some stretches to ease his sore muscles.

This young man is an older Liam. He is now 16 years old. He has grown from his child self that he was eight years ago. He now has a height of six foot two inches, weighing eighty four kilograms. He is muscular and lean. His skin has gained a little colour over these years giving him a healthy olive tone.

He opens his eyes to reveal his mystifying red eyes but now we can see the pattern clearer. The pattern seems to be a collection of hundreds of flowers in various shades of red, the flowers look as though the have gone through a kaleidoscope, but at the center surrounding his pupil a white out line of a lotus can be seen. His eyes were absolutely beautiful and could mesmerize anyone who looked in them long enough.

"Hey kid, your not done, another ten minutes on eight to cool down" said a gruff voice. Liam looked the person in the eyes but they did not waver in his actions or speech. Clearly his eyes didn't work on everyone.

"Yes, sensei" Liam said sulkily through pants as he slowly went back to the treadmill. The man was John Kreese, Liam's adoptive father. Kreese seemed to have more pronounced wrinkles than when he first met Liam though he didn't lose his temperament and the confident and fiery look in his eyes.

"Good, I'd expect no less from my son" Kreese said with a tone of pride as his face gained a youthful smirk.

Ten minutes later Liam has finished, he and Kreese are going to the gyms changing room to get ready for the steam room and sauna. They are currently at a public gym that is close to their current house, they have moved several times during these years and it has caused Liam to keep people at a distance as to not get attached and hurt when he moves. In this gym there are many state of the art facilities for members to use.

Liam and Kreese came out in their swimsuits with their towels on their shoulders, they held water bottles in their hands. They strode past the indoor pool, that had women that were looking Liam up and down admiring him, and went straight to the steam room.

After they were done at the gym entirely they walked out of the building in casual clothing, Kreese wore his khaki coat with grey trousers and top. Liam wore a black short-sleeve top that highlighted his muscles, along with a pair of grey shorts which left his defined calfs visible. They sat in a stylish black car. Kreese was in the driver side seat as Liam was in the passenger side."Hey old man, why don't you let me drive? I have my license" Liam asked as to why whenever they were in the car together Kreese drove."Let's just say nostalgia" Kreese said "and I like driving."

They returned home and Kreese informed Liam that he would be moving soon but Liam will move a there before he does. Liam accepted this, he knew what Kreese was like.

A couple days later Liam moved to a small house in the San Fernando Valley, but Kreese and the locals call it the Valley. He was enrolled into a high school in the Valley. Everyday he continued his training. Today was his first day of classes.

Liam over these years is not just a meathead, he has a knack for learning and a near perfect memory, in all his previous schools he was at the top academically or was quickly catching up so he was never below anyone for long. This has been chalked up to him as the work of his mysterious eyes, but he hasn't been able to prove it.

He was now entering the high school. He was wearing a grey top, a green bomber jacket and black sweatpants. He had no bag as he finds note taking worthless with his memory, and he had his pens and phone in his pocket. He was ready for anything this school could throw at him. He walked onto the building and asked someone where the principal's office was. He went to the office and received his timetable and a small map of the school. He wondered around following the map to his first class.

During lunch and any time between classes he would hear of a dojo called Cobra Kai, the exact same name as Kreese's old dojo. Cobra Kai apparently won the 'All Valley Tournament', this is a tournament pitting karate practitioners under eighteen against each other. Liam was kind of disappointed when he saw the members of Cobra Kai around school because they didn't even seem half as dangerous as Kreese so their was no one to challenge him. He has been planning to challenge their sensei to prove he was stronger, that he was the best, that he was not weak.
