Chapter 17: The Princess and the Shadow thief

In this world, there is an existence that is regarded as the only human being chosen by the gods to save all mankind from the threat of the Demon lord.

That existence is dubbed as 'Hero', someone who will guide humanity to victory.

The hero and the demon lord have been at odds with each other since far in the past. The story of the human-demon dispute that will occur every 300 years has even been known by every creature with intelligence in this world.

However, no one knows what is the reason that brought the two races with the most numbers in this world to even fall out with each other like this.

Some say that the Demons was the first to fan the dispute between them. But at the same time, there are also those who say that It was Humans who started the dispute between them.

There is not a single definitive reason for the fight of the two Races. However, one thing that is certain is that the two Races still hate each other, even now. The demons are determined to annihilate all mankind in this world, and the human race is also determined to annihilate all the Demons race on the surface of this world.

It was an eternal dispute that would not end before one of them perished.

The battle between Demon lord and the Hero has even created dozens of giant valleys on all continents, which have now become giant lakes and rivers.

And, here, there is a princess who is in trouble because of the Hero of this generation. The princess was the second Princess of this Adimrlas Empire, Lemetia Nor Adimrlas.

"Va-sama... I don't want this. Please, help me..." Snuggling up on her plush mattress, Lemetia muttered the name of someone she had admired for a long time - no, she'd loved the owner of the name since the first time they met in the past.

Lemetia sobbed as she recalled the words of her father, the Emperor of this empire: Weildhath Nor Adimrlas.

Suddenly and without warning, her father suddenly told her that she would be the fiancée of this generation's Heroes.

If the one who received it was a princess from another kingdom or maybe even another younger sister of Lemetia, maybe they would be happy with it. But, unfortunately, Lemetia already has someone else in her heart. Instead of being happy about it, Lemetia was tormented by it, she didn't want the relationship between herself and the one she loved to run aground just because some Heroes she didn't even know came.

"Va-sama..." Inside her large, desolate luxurious room, sobs from Princess Lemetia were heard there, along with tears flowing from the princess's beautiful blue eyes.

"I see..." And, while listening to the Princess's cries from the outside of the castle, the man lowered his head after finally understanding the Princess's feelings. The man was the one that Lemetia loved, as well as one of the most famous people in the Capital.

Every person who lives in the Capital must have heard of him at least once in their life. He is a man dubbed as the Shadow thief, a man who devotes his entire life to stealing and eradicating corrupt nobles using his very mysterious shadow magic and helping the poor people.

His name was Lokie Lok Va, and he at this time finally understood about the Princess who for some reason was always trying to find and meet him.

Lokie decides to check on Lemetia's actual state to be honest is just to find out the reason why Lemetia was finally decided to be engaged to the Hero. However, he instead accidentally heard the princess's cry, it really surprised him to learn that a Princess like Lemetia have such feelings for him.

Lifting the spear with a red cloth covering the tip of the spear, his only weapon, Lokie removed the plain white mask that had been drawn to have a sad expression on its surface from her face.

Lokie had decided to show his face to this princess who had loved him.

The two of them had only met once in the past, and Lokie knew that the princess was not a person who could lie about her own feelings. Therefore, Lokie for the first time since where he started wearing the mask, Lokie decided to risk his trust in Lemetia.

"Wait for me, Princess. I will pick you up in the near future."

Abandoning the words, Lokie's figure disappeared in the shadow of the castle building.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Lemetia-sama, it's already time for you to see Hero-sama." The door to Lemetia's room opened with a knocking sound, followed by the appearance of a maid who came to tell Lemetia that it was time for her meeting with her future fiancée.

"... I'll get ready right away." Retorting in a not-so-good mood, Lemetia began to lift her body slowly as she was sitting staring at the cityscape from behind her bedroom window.

The maid's face began to wrinkle in worry at the sight of that uncharacteristic Lemetia. However, as a Maid, she must not interfere too much in her master's private affairs.

"In that case, please call me if you need anything, Lemetia-sama." Bending over, the maid went out of the room.

It has been a week since the day Lemetia learned that she would be the fiancée of the hero.

"Sigh~..." Even so, Lemetia couldn't get rid of the sadness she felt at all. She couldn't even mask that sadness, though as a princess, she should be able to keep one or two of her personal feelings.

Lemetia had been silent in her room for a whole week, she couldn't force herself to leave the room. Her days were filled with empty hopes that the Man she loved would come to save herself out of nowhere as he had done in the past.

Soon, Lemetia finally finished wearing the dress. However, she felt very reluctant to walk out of her room. Lemetia hugged herself because of the fear she felt, "I am indeed a stupid girl, huh? The two of us barely knew each other, but I instead hoped he would come to me. Ha ha ha..."

However, no matter how much she didn't want to meet the hero, she still had to do it. Lemetia realized that, after all, she was a princess.

Lemetia knew, that many other noble ladies besides herself who suffered a similar fate to hers, had to be with men they did not even recognize, even though they already had other men in their hearts.

As a princess, Lemetia knew that she had to keep this feeling deep in her heart. She had to forget this first love of hers.

However, however! If, if only this little plea of hers could be granted, Lemetia would like at least once to see this man she loved again, and finally express the feelings she currently has. Lemetia doesn't care whether this feeling of hers will be reciprocated or not. She just didn't want this warm feeling that was still throbbing violently inside her chest to be in vain.

She didn't want to throw it away.

Hiding the sadness and pain she felt, Lemetia began to walk out of her room. She was going to be engaged to a man she didn't know, because it was her duty as a princess.
