Chapter 8: Date
"Harima-Kun?" Harima heard a voice and then looked up to see who had called him.
He then noticed an invisible girl wearing a tight navy blue sundress, with a black bomber jacket on top, and a pair of sneakers.
"Toru, nice outfit," Harima complimented her with a charming smile.
"Thanks," Toru said while looking down because of embarrassment. "Did you have to wait long?" She then asked while walking up to him.
"No, I just came. How about we head inside before the movie begins."
"Alright." The duo then walked into the cinema.
They went near the counter and bought two tickets to the Rom-com movie that Toru wanted to watch.
They then ordered some drinks and popcorn, then went inside the room that played the movie, and sat down. while waiting for the movie they had a bit of small talk.
"So hey, are you really able to see me?" She asked while looking at Harima
He then looked at her while describing her features." A cute girl with chartreuse hair, having the same color on her eyebrows and even on her eyes. And she also has a body that any girl would die for."
Toru then blushed when she heard him describe her as cute. But she then remembered what he said at the end. "You pervert." She said while pinching his stomach.
"Ahhh, it hurts you know" He started acting. "Then you shouldn't have said that," Toru said while puffing her cheeks out before then sticking her tongue out at him.
"Hahaha." Harima then started to laugh, having even Toru join in on it a second later.
As soon as they stopped laughing, a bright light appeared on the front screen and what seemed to be the title sequence started playing.
The duo then sat back normally and started watching the movie.
Although Harima didn't really like these types of movies, he still paid attention to it since they were bound to talk about it after.
Harima also made a couple of jokes about the movie, sometimes getting a chuckle out of Toru or other times making her pinch him again.
As half the movie had passed Harima sideglanced at Toru and saw her fully focused on the tv.
Now having his chance, he then yawned while putting his hand up before then placing them around her.
Harima then pulled her closer to him.
"W-what are you doing," He could see her face which had a hint of red on it looking at him.
" Is it uncomfortable? In that case, should I let go?"
"It's not that... I was just not expecting it." She whispered which Harima was barely able to catch.
" Then it's alright, besides it's cold in here and I don't want you to catch a cold." Harima made up an excuse.
Looking at his eyes to see if he was telling the truth, Toru then looked back at the screen before muttering. "I see".
As time went by Toru then began making herself more comfortable, and for some reason, the movie felt even better than before.
When the movie ended, they then walked outside and then stood on the sidewalk.
Bringing his thumbs up, Harima then spotted a cab coming his way.
"Get in." Hearing that the duo then opened the door before then sitting next to each other. " Take us to the Pheonix restaurant." Having said those words the driver then stepped on the gas pedal.
A few minutes later the cab then stopped, and outside they saw a two-story building with a few people coming in and out of it.
After paying the driver they then went inside the restaurant.
Sitting at the table, they then order their meals.
"What do you think about the date so far Toru?" Harima smirked while asking the question.
"D-date? I only said that I would take you out to dinner." She then tried to deny it.
"If I'm correct, that's practically what a date is," Harima said.
After some initial panicking, Toru then noticed that Harima was trying to tease her and then lightly stomped on his feet.
"No! Not the shoes." Harima went into a panic.
Toru seeing this then giggled a little before she then responded. "Hmmph, that's what you get."
Soon after the waiter came with their order, and they sat there for an hour eating their food while talking to each other about themselves.
They did have the same opinions on subjects like movies, music, food, and even video games. Harima got to learn a lot about Toru that he didn't see in the anime.
Harima even told her about his deceased parents and that he was living alone at the moment.
When Toru heard that, she had small tears falling from her eyes while asking Harima if he was okay.
" Don't worry, it happened a long time ago and I have gotten over it." He said trying to stop her from crying
After they were finished with their food, Harima then paid for the food and then left the restaurant.
Looking at the sun going down Harima then said. "It's going to be dark soon, let me walk you home."
"You don't have to you know, it's only a few minutes away." She then told him.
"It's not because I have to, but it's because want to," Harima said while looking at her.
Toru then blushed and muttered "ok" as a response.
But instead of taking a short way, they decided on taking a detour towards the beach.
As the duo was walking side to side through the sandy beach, Harima's hand accidentally brushed Toru's.
He then steeled himself and interlocked his hand with hers.
Toru had multiple emotions occupying her mind right now, such as shock, happiness, embarrassment, and even a bit of love. But in the end, only a smile occupied her.
Harima then glanced at her and noticed her smiling brightly. Her beautiful face coupled with that smile made him wonder if she was actually a goddess in disguise.
When they neared the house, Toru then let go and walked near the gate.
She looked back and then showed Harima her smile again before saying. "Thanks for the... date. I really liked it Harima." Toru then said his name for the first time without any honorific suffix.
She approached Harima again before telling him to turn sideways.
"Think of this as a gift." She kissed his cheek before she then ran back and opened the door to the house in a hurry.
*SIGH*
Looking at all of this Harima could only sigh.
He then touched where Toru had kissed him and said. " God, she's cute."
