Chapter 2: Chapter Two

They skipped his introduction.

The universal cloud of gloom might or might not have appeared on top of him, raining down the drops of depression on his head but he ignored it, like always.

Besides, judging from the condition of his social skill, he might have introduced himself even worse than Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, and damn, he sucked at introductions, seemed like a cool guy though, if a little dull.

After the introductions were interrupted by one of his classmates with short red hair, the teacher walked in and was now talking to something he should really be listening to, but he didn't really have the energy to spare.

Her name was Sae, if he heard right, and she was explaining some of the rules of the school to others, but he found it unnecessary, who would join a school without doing any research on it, that was dumb.

"- To make purchases you will spend your points which are tracked using the school's main computer system, at this school, you can buy absolutely anything on campus with these."

When she said "Absolutely anything" he quirked an eyebrow, so, if there was a gun on campus he could technically buy that too? Answers to the tests? Hell, the tests themselves?

Alcohol even if he was still underage? "Absolutely" is a very broad stroke.

Oblivious to his inner monologue, Sae-sensei continued her explanation.

"Points are distributed to you on the first of each month, each point is worth one yen, if you'll check your devices, you'll notice that you've already been allotted one hundred thousand."

As the room descended into murmurs, Kenji took out his phone that was given to him on this school's equivalent of orientation and with a simple click of a button, unlocked the screen.

He needed a password on this ASAP.

Indeed, on the main screen was the number of "points" he currently had, one hundred thousand.

His eyes narrowed in thought, why would the school give them this much? Since the school was free, they didn't have to pay tuition, so the money was coming from the government, which meant that the government was basically supporting this whole school's supply import.

"I see you're all surprised by the size of your allotment. This school judges its based on their merit alone, you've all shown immense value just getting into this school, we have allotted you what we think you are worth."

___

(What we are worth, huh?)

Kenji mused as he walked to a clothes shop, he had no clothes other than the school uniform, he needed something else to wear, pronto.

(Maybe they're just indulging the students, but Sae-Sensei's words don't make it out to be like that.)

Walking inside the male clothes shop inside the large mall on campus, he picked out five Large sized V-neck shirts, black, green, and white in color with two of them being black and two white.

Three pairs of pants, two green button-up shirts, and two turtlenecks along with some socks.

(Now for the shoes, maybe running shoes?)

Be bought running shoes in the end.

Now all he had to do was take these things to his dorm room, go back out... buy food... take the food back... then go buy essentials...

"God damn it, moving into a new home is hard."

All in all, it took an hour and a half to get everything done and he sat down on his bed, letting out a short breath of exasperation.

Why? Because about halfway through his supply run, his classmates had the bright idea of making groups on the phones. The girls and boys group was called "Class D" and the boys-only group was called "The Bro Code".

The only thing the boys talked about was the chest size of their classmates, how high they scored on the attractiveness scale and if anyone would go out with them. Now, he had to admit, two people did that, not all of them, but they could have used a private chat for that, no need to explode his phone.

He couldn't even mute it, he was holding groceries.

Opening the chat group, he raised an eyebrow, somehow, the conversation drifted from girls in bikinis to girls doing sports...

Bloody hormonal teenagers.

Tossing the phone on the bed, Kenji turned to the table where all the bags he brought to his dorm and stared for a bit, then groaned.

"Bloody hell."

Sighing, he started organizing the contents of the bag, this was going to take a while.

___

After he was done, there was still time in the day left to burn. The day had 24 hours, as far as he was concerned, the day wasn't over until midnight.

Walking out of his dorm room, his attention was grabbed by someone next to him, leaving their room as well. Turning to the figure, his eyebrow quirked at the sight.

There stood Ayanokoji, still in his school uniform, walking out of the room next to his. They were neighbors. The said boy looked at him, only now noticing his presence, and faced him with blankly.

Aw, he was awkward.

"Hello, you're Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, right? I sit in front of you in class."

The boy blinked before raising his hand and scratching the back of his head, this gesture was commonly associated with sheepishness, however, that blank face of his contradicted it.

"Ah, yeah..."

Things descended into an awkward silence, probably because Ayanokoji didn't know his name and this would continue until they parted ways so he had to remedy that as soon as possible if he wanted a friendship of any sort.

"Kenji, just Kenji, nice to meet you."

He offered a hand to his fellow brown-haired brother and he shook it.

"Hello, Kenji, just Kenji, want to come with me to the vending machine next to the dorm?"

Kenji chuckled, and nodded, he didn't have a plan in mind when he went out, so juice sounded nice right about now.

Besides, what better way to asses his classmates?
