Chapter 33: Good Things

"So this is their office in the Capital."

I was being walked around by Albert, currently It was Sunday, the day after the exams, Aria called me so that I could take a look at where she'll place a branch office of the family here.

"Yes, young master."

Albert walked me up to the top floor, of course I knew what this building really was, it was the hideout of 'Catalyst' before she took over.

"Lucas."

I saw Aria from her new office, it was spacious and the view was nice as it could overlook the surrounding forest, yes, this office was located outside the Imperial Capital, they were at the very border.

"Sister."

"Look at this place! Isn't it marvelous now! I did hire people to redesign it but it really is a nice place, unless you venture out this place is hard to find and what's more this place has an even more advanced signal and satellite jammer.

"Really?"

"Yes, we're studying it now, no wonder they remain undetected for who knows how long, not only that they have tons of toys that could prove very useful."

She then showed me a video on her laptop, it was scientists experimenting on what I remember criminals or talented kidnapped teens.

"They were on the verge of creating super soldiers! And that's not all they had capabilities that a mere normal human being can go toe to toe with someone with mana of course they didn't try it out yet as they were still fixing a few flaws."

"Wait."

"What? Is there something wrong?"

"Doesn't it feel wrong?"

"Not quite, think of it this way, those criminals that are on death row can be now useful! Instead of being dying without a purpose now they have one."

Aria smiled as she stood up from her desk, she then hinted me to follow her.

"Its a bit too much?"

"I know, and I know some will call me inhumane or a monster if I go with it but I will, look these guys are on death row for a reason."

I just stood by as we went down on an elevator, she looked at the lab and I saw lots of people, coming in and out with boxes, I could see lots of tubes that could contain a human body.

"At least they can atone for what they have done."

"You're using them as a death squad of some sort right?"

"Precisely, they're going to be our scouts in raids of course we have to place precautionary measures, they were on the verge of perfecting the formula and guess what I found out."

"Starlight Mana?"

"Precisely, but I won't stoop down that low that I'll target Leon for that."

"So you also believe Leon is the child of destiny?"

"Did you read the report I gave you?"

"Ugh."

[ Just say yes. ]

"Yes?"

"Then you'll know that everything he has experienced outside of the Imperial Academy and him surviving against all odds is because of his luck and destiny."

"Yes"

She did not need to remind me, although I haven't read everything I still read somewhere that when he wasn't here he saved a few people and beat people higher than his level, which was completely normal as the protagonist.

"So."

Aria then looked at me and grabbed my shoulder, I could feel her strength, she then smiled.

"So?"

"We'll be using your mana."

"What."

"Your mana is as unique as 'Starlight' though it won't manifest now since your body is still getting accustomed to the Lycoris Mana, I've read that it'll manifest soon enough and you'll feel the mana from the earth."

"What else?"

"Though it won't be as dense as 'Starlight' but you're mana will be replaced with the Earth's mana, how do I explain it well for you."

Aria then found a whiteboard and began drawing and explaining.

"Our mana, is just the general term, there are three different types of mana, four if you add in Starlight which is a unique mana that there's no exact description and only those who wield can go in great detail."

"My Mana, is called Aether, its a mana I get from being a priest, what separates it and makes it unique is that its from the gods that are here, they're real and if you're lucky you may become a servant."

"What does it do exactly? this is the first time I'm reading about it."

"It depends on the principle, mine is 'Superbia', one day I woke up and suddenly had this, then I kept hearing her name, so I went to her temple and receiver their blessing that's how I got it, I'm what you call an Apostle and there are only a handful of us."

[ What the hell, this wasn't in the novel! ]

'Oh boy'

"That's why I pride on being the best, the more stronger my belief towards the principle the stronger and denser my mana is, though I've yet to fight Leon but he's still weak right now so I won't bully him."

"Ok."

"To keep it short and sweet, its Divine Mana, it strengthens my body and allows me to use a power beyond a normal human's limit, yours on the other hand."

"You see, Mana, the general mana which people who aren't like me, you, or Leon, its just called 'Mana' , the Earth gives us mana, it gives us life, then we use the Mana that earth gives us, since we are born of this earth we can use the mana the earth gives us."

"But you, from what I've read, Your body has become earth itself, its self sufficient, you can use the earth's mana but you also have your own, its still taking root from what I've read, your body is still getting used too it."

"Once it is finished, your mana will be as dense than mine, but it will always be regenerating as long as you're on earth, you're a walking battery, not only that but if you allow it, others can use your mana.."

[ How do we tell her this isn't the Lycoris Body anymore? ]

'No need, but can you check my mana now?'

[ Sure thing ]

"Your mana still doesn't have a name yet as you are the second."

"Whose the first?"

"Their name was torn off the page, perhaps, I only read it in the clan's vault, you can read the diary there I give you permission."

"So what do you want me to do then?"

"Assimilate with your body, once you feel the complete change, then come back to me, I'll perfect this little project while I hammer out the details, there's a lot of it."

"Can I watch?"

"Sure come with me, let's see their other toys."

-

[ She was right, I haven't been checking on your mana but compared from before, its a lot denser. ]

Tear then materialized in front of me, she then placed her hands on my eyes as she allowed me to use her skill that would allow us to see mana flowing.

[ See this ball of mana in your body here at your abdomen? It wasn't there when I first checked you, and somehow I don't understand why I didn't check you ever since your body got upgraded. ]

'Things happened.'

[ Right, see, your mana is getting denser as well, but it hasn't filled your mana circuit, your mana circuit in your body is getting wider and stronger, looks like its either we wait or we jumpstart your mana. ]

'But what if it gets you know even wider and stronger? and I don't know nor do you I suppose what would happen if we forcefully jumpstart my mana.'

[ Trust in me, I'll pop this ball and guide your mana to where it should be, but the way I see it, your mana circuit can still get wider, once it reaches its peak I'll tell you so you can get ready. ]

'Alright'

She then dematerialized, I then laid down on my room, there were a lot of things that we stopped, looks like Leon will live a trouble free life here.

I wanted to write, like write a diary but Tear was against it, and she had a point, what if someone read my diary? Then it would be a dangerous outcome so I didn't go with it.

And here I thought I would go on an adventure, but still I'm grateful, at least there won't be headaches.

-

"You've grown Sepia."

"Thank you!"

Emily was training Sepia, Sepia had approached her, although it would cut her time with her Husband, she didn't mind it that much since she also didn't want to see Sepia be a baggage.

"Looks like the skills helped you so much."

"It did! But I don't know my mana capacity is still the same, but I do recover faster."

"Yes, having a small capacity is a big problem in the long run, I don't know if there's a way to increase mana but it looks like you'll have to find artifacts that'll allow you to store mana."

"I will!"

Emily nodded but right now, she wanted to ask Sepia something that she wanted to.

"Sepia."

"Yes?"

"Do you like Lucas?"

Sepia was shocked but not surprised by Emily's question, right now she was hesitating to answer, but she thought of Emily as a friend, and she had the right to question her, she shyly nodded.

"I see."

"You're not mad?"

"Everyone is entitled to their own feelings, I will not stop someone from admiring another person."

"Even if its Lucas?"

"Even if its Lucas, besides I'm not afraid, I know it myself."

"Can you share me your story? I mean I really want to know how you guys got together."

Both Emily and Sepia stood in front of each other, Emily nodded, they then sat on a bench as Emily began retelling the story with a few lies here and there to hide the real fact on how they got together.

"Wait!"

"Yes?"

"Your souls are connected!?"

"Yes."

"Does that mean?"

"I can feel what he feels."

"Ah! Can you tell me what he fe-feels- abo-about me?"

"I could, but I won't."

"Diene?"

"Still won't"

Sepia felt down, but.

"What I can say, his feelings towards you is somewhat positive, perhaps that's why I'm more open to you and the people at the Finance Department since I feel like his soul is also influencing me."

Sepia took a deep breath, then she regained her smiled and patted her cheeks.

"Alright! Let's train some more!"

"Alright, don't say I didn't warn you."
