📖 Diary of the Depressed 🖊️
Chapter one
"I'm drowning in the sea of consciousness commonly known as existence.
Drifting among the float some of broken dreams.
I gasp for air."
I stopped writing to stare at the picture frame of my parents and I. I reached out for the box that contained my admission letter, brought it out and stared at it also.
Then I continued,
"Like a fish out of water choking in oxygen that I shouldn't have.
Desperate for a time long gone, a time past due, a time now dead"
I stopped writing closed my diary, kept in the box and went downstairs.
Mom was lying on the sofa as always heartbroken, worn out and unproductive. She has been like since my dad left us for his mistress.
I stared at her for a while and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for us. This was really hard for me trying to be strong for the ones who are supposed to be strong for you. I worked hard all day to make sure we get something to eat a day whereas they should be the one taking care of me. Well in my case it was the reverse.
Done with preparing breakfast, I went to mom who was still lying and staring at nothing in particular.
"Mom breakfast is ready" she didn't respond.
"Mom !!!
She wouldn't even budge.
I ran upstairs to bring blanket and pillow, placed her well and left for to sell my recharge cards at our compound gate, that was how we were able to eat and I was able to save for my school.
