Chapter 43: Chapter 39 Playing with Illusory Ravens and Wargs

Author's note: This is a chapter about Vincent's abilities, as a new evolution is approaching, I thought it was time to recap and revisit his skills. I hope you enjoy it.

.....

Walking through the territory of the Greengrass Estate, Rose and Vincent strolled, taking in the natural beauty around them. Gardens adorned the grand structure of the palace, with its Gothic architecture. Though smaller than a castle, it was a place where hundreds of people could live in harmony, a stark contrast to the magical warfare scene in Britain. In fact, the estate and its surroundings accommodated many vassal wizarding families, and one of the reasons they maintained peace was their strength in numbers, along with the influence and power of relevant members, although they didn't surpass figures like Dumbledore.

In a way, it was like a beehive of bees, and disturbing it would be a challenge even for Voldemort, reflected Vincent on his recent findings as he observed the gray faction. He understood how valuable this peaceful life was, even though it was sustained at a high cost, often requiring a violent and necessary response to maintain it. "Only by having power can you choose how to live," he concluded.

"Vincy, what's going on in your mind?" Rose asked, watching the overly thoughtful boy, curious about the secrets of his peculiar mind, but not pressing for answers.

He looked at her and replied simply, "I prefer peace."

Surprised by such a profound topic, she pondered for a moment and said, "Hmm, peace, I prefer peace too," recalling how her life had been marked by challenges, although most of it had been lived peacefully.

Vincent smiled, remembering the purpose of their walk. "Rose, is there a place around here where we can discreetly use our abilities for training?"

"I know a good place, the Greengrass lands are vast, you'll find it interesting," she replied, taking the lead to guide them to the location on a long walk.

"Alright," he quickened his pace to keep up with her.

As they walked, Vincent observed the local plants, some of them with unique appearances. There was a majestic fighting willow, delicate and colorful valerian, some Vampire Aloe Vera, and another strange plant with teeth of which he didn't know the name. The place was rich in rare magical herbs and plants.

Under the generous morning sun on their skin, they finally arrived at a clearing and an apparently abandoned tower. The tower was about ten meters tall and built with large stone blocks. Although it clearly showed signs of neglect and erosion over time, its structure still stood firm and erect.

"This used to be one of the ancient wards of the estate, although it's no longer in use, as we expanded the territory," she explained. Her presence had scared off some of the wildlife, including some fairies, Diricawls (creatures that appear and disappear instantly), and some wild hippogriffs flying high over the territory.

"It looks like a good place to me," he said with a smile and finally summoned his grimoire. Rose was interested in that strange-looking book, crimson in color, which seemed to move as if it were alive, occasionally contracting. However, she didn't ask any questions about it.

Vincent opened the second page without worrying about Rose seeing it, as they shared a powerful bond with the book, and she had seen it before, although she didn't know much about it. He focused on the page that displayed a list of his attributes.

[- Lesser Demon of Sloth - Sloth = 55% Gluttony = 50% Wrath = 42% Lust = 30% Envy = 35% Pride = 51% Greed = 53%] A/N: Each percentage is specific and unique, reflecting the character's alignment with one of the seven original sins and their overall nature.

Perks = Sin of Sloth and Dreams - You are affected by mild sloth, and your natural and magical abilities focus on the field of illusions and dreams because you're too lazy to do something real.

Punishment - You have a natural thirst for punishing sinners and criminals, taking incredible pleasure in such acts, no matter how brutal they may be.]

Vincent pondered how things had evolved. He, who had no grand ambitions, was surprised to see this specific aspect of his being rise, and the percentages of sloth decrease, although it was still his predominant trait. He had been more active in the past year, reflecting in his demonic nature.

Rose, observing closely, couldn't recognize the characters or words of that strange language, but she felt a connection to Vincent and the book due to the contract.

Finally, Vincent pondered his abilities, which he categorized into two types: support abilities and offensive abilities. Most of his skills were support abilities, including his abilities to collect essence, create illusions, and defensive skills.

Illusions - He could create illusions based on his imagination, but what was most special was the ability to materialize them physically, representing a remarkable power for both combat and defense, among other uses. One of the most notable uses was the combination of illusion with astral form, extending the range of the ability almost indefinitely and giving rise to his legion of ravens or wolves, which had become his signature.

Astral Form - This ability allowed him to detach from his physical body and assume his soul form, as well as fragment threads of his soul that remained connected to his original soul. This allowed the use of abilities through these fragments. The illusory ravens connected by a fragment of the soul could use all of his spells, with Hellfire being a standout, among other abilities.

Dreamwalker - This ability connected him to the dimension of dreams, Morpheus' realm, allowing him to enter physically or spiritually into this plane. If there was an object or illusion connected to the fragment of Vincent's soul, he could open a dimensional portal between the two, bypassing space and time. That was how he saved Narcissa's daughter, Elise Rigel, from her idiot father.

Hour of Nightmares - This ability gave him the power to invade other people's dreams and control the dream, working well in conjunction with the Dream Feast to extract demonic essence.

Dream Feast - You feed on people's dreams, generating demonic essence. Its effects are enhanced in sinners, and you can also devour souls corrupted by dreams, with a small chance of absorbing abilities, memories, and knowledge from the victims.

His offensive abilities were also interesting and complemented well with his skill set.

Demonic Form - He transforms into his true form, gaining a boost in all attributes.

Hellfire - He could conjure infernal flames, with surprising versatility. They could become so hot as to disintegrate a person or melt metals and stones. Or be so could that can freeze, this flame is effective in souls.

Demonic Mark - This ability marked a target and kept them under constant surveillance, tracking their exact location at any given time.

In addition, he had two interesting abilities.

Demonic Right - This ability allowed him to directly use the energy of demonic essence to create and manipulate matter, with few restrictions, except related to mass and energy. Creating something using only essence energy was extremely costly, in the house of millions of demonic essence. Reverting something that was unnatural was almost impossible due to the weight of it, making this unlikely for resurrecting the dead or something so absurd like that.

Demonic Contract - This ability was versatile and special because it used the authority of a demon to perform miracles. It could grant abilities to someone, heal, desires, but there was a limit, if he was no authority about a soul or death itself, he no can revive, and the price an cost of this is really Hight.

Vincent, after reviewing his abilities, created a dark, purplish spot in his hand, shaping it into the form of a large raven. Rose, who was nearby, admired the sight and asked, "Are they real?"

"It depends on what you mean by 'real,'" Vincent replied, prompting a question. The raven he had created flew with agility and freedom; its features, movements, and everything else seemed incredibly lifelike.

"I'm not sure how to answer that; after all, with magic, things tend not to be very concrete," Rose said, reflecting.

Vincent smiled and explained, "They are illusory constructs that I shaped using a fragment of my soul. They can interact with physical reality, feel, and even think, but they are not real. In the end, they're just illusions." He watched the raven fly high and finally extinguish the flames, landing on his shoulder. Looking at Rose, he asked, "Rose, can you show me your abilities?"

"Yes, they're very cool," she said, smiling.
