Chapter 2: The outbreak -II
The quiet road to the town was broken by the sound of a horse galloping through the woods.
A young teenage girl in a dark olive green cloak, with her long platinum hair flew back in the wind was riding the horse relentlessly.
After riding for a while, the silver hair girl finally reach the town and slow down her horse pace when she saw the Knights and soldiers outside the entrance gate of the town. She knew the town was restricted to enter from the outside with the exception of the healers and witch to treat the infected people, therefore she got off her horse and walked to the direction of the knights.
"Excuse me, Sir"
"Could you open the gate? I...I wish to meet my parents," she pleated to the knight who seem to be their Commander.
He was standing aloof with his back on everyone, with a red cloak that draped on his body, while the others knights appear to be standing far away from him, which mean he has higher rank, therefore she pleated to him, maybe he might allowed her to entered.
He was still standing with back without even turning to look at her, she thought he was ignoring her when he finally turned around and she saw his face covered by a mask, with the exception of his green eyes which look like the pine trees of the forest.
If its before this plague occurred, she would have admired his eyes, and maybe his face too. He has a tall and lean physique, therefore she is sure he's a handsome guy behind his mask.
His uniform appeared to be different from the others knights, he looked like a serious commander, particularly when he gaze at her in his deep green eyes in a peculiar looks, which she find it odd. However, before she was about to speak again, she heard her name being called in a familiar voice.
"Ari!"
She turned around and saw her childhood friend Malcolm, in his knight uniform, he looked relief and concerned at the same time when he saw her.
"Why did you come back? Don't you know this place is no longer safe?" he uttered furiously.
Ariana, however doesn't care about it and instead she anxiously asks him, "Are my parents and brother okay?"
Malcolm furious expression was replaced by a sympathetic expression, when he looked at her. At this moment, Ariana finally knew the answer without him saying anything, when she saw his pity.
"They're gone, Ari," he said sadly.
"What?" she mumbled.
Ariana felt like someone just ripped her heart out, she felt like she couldn't breathe, like she couldn't believe everything that happening. She want to cried and yelled at someone, at the unfair of this cruel world.
Taking away her dearest ones.
When they are the most beautiful souls in this world, especially her cute little brother, yet this cruel world took them mercilessly.
'My brother'
Ariana felt her sense coming back and looked at Malcolm, with hope in her eyes.
"What about my brother?" she desperately asked.
"Ariana, calm down, Jace is being treated at a nearby village, you...." he tried to pacified her.
"No, I have to meet him," she cut him and was about to walked away, when she heard a cold and husky voice.
"Stop, right there," his voice sound chilly and superior like a person with high authority, that it send a chill down to her spine for the first time in her life.
Ariana turned around to gaze at him and saw the deep green eyes that scrutinizing her strangely. At this moment, she finally realised that this man is dangerous.
"Captain! " she heard Malcolm surprised voice.
