Chapter 72: I Won't Leave You In The Middle

After Sheriff Bolt left with only- I will think about it- Joanna and I sat silently with bloated bellies and empty plates on the table.

After ten minutes of pregnant silence, Joanna finally asked, "So what have you decided?"

"I don't know," I said, staring at my fingers in my lap.

"Should I ask for Mr Burke's help? I mean... if Devon Sanders has great connections then he must have them too, right?" I asked hopefully.

But Joanna didn't share the same enthusiasm for my idea as me.

"Elena have you forgotten what happened after only having a lunch with him? By asking Mr Burke's help you will split the family in two. This idea doesn't fancy me at all!" She gave her honest opinion.

I wanted to argue but wasn't she, right? No matter how much I hated Sanders... I couldn't take it out on the Burkes.

"Then I don't know what should I do!" I told her honestly.
