Chapter 73: How Should I Trust You?

The ticking of the clock felt louder than the pounding hammers at the factory site. The fragrance of flowers that refreshed my mood before now suffocated the already tense air between us.

And the delicious food remained untouched in its place. I watched her sitting in the chair which was occupied by Christine ten minutes ago.

The lights were on as the whole atmosphere in the place felt too morbid to feel anywhere near pleasant.

I noticed her swollen eyes as she kept her gaze fixated on her lap. Anyone could tell how uncomfortable and humiliated she felt given how harshly she scratched her thumb.

I had already noticed the blood and chapped skin but refrained myself from thinking too much about it.

'She is your enemy Devon! Focus! Focus on your plan!'

But wait! What exactly was my plan?

I didn't know yet!
