The sweet fragrance of roses mixed with the exquisite scent of perfumes flooded my nostrils. I would have choked, and my eyes might have watered at the strong scent, but this one was soothing and calming and yet did nothing to calm my nerves.

The bright morning sunlight fell on my skin like a soft warm blanket on a winter morning that I welcomed wholeheartedly.

I could hear sounds and voices chattering behind me, but nothing made sense to me as my mind refused to register any of them. It was focused solely on the loudly thumping heart of mine.
