Chapter 2: Skewered Meat

Liam laughed out loud.

The cyclobear roared in pain. It tried to use its paws once again trying to bring Liam to death with him.

But Liam was one step faster. With a grunt, he brought his sword in an upward motion, effectively leaving a vertical cut from the belly through its throat. Completely stopping the cyclobear from swatting Liam's head.

Lightning flashed and the thunder boomed.

Liam breathed haggardly. Yet there wasn't a thread of tiredness visible from his face.

"This little sh*t is actually this weak?"

He shouldn't have wasted his time defending and evading the cyclobear's attack if he knew how weak its defenses were

However, it is still better to be safe than sorry. I don't want to die immediately after reincarnating like that specific character I had read in webnovel once... Liam thought.

Liam pulled out his sword from the cyclobear's throat, blood spraying from it.

"Damn it." Liam was completely soaked in blood.

Shaking his head with a smile, he brandished his sword. Getting rid of the blood staining it in the process.

Thankfully it was raining, the rain washed away the blood from Liam's face slowly.

As he was about to leave the area, he faintly saw a glowing red stone emerging from the cyclobear's heart.

Liam's eyes showed a fascinated look, his mouth still in a smiling position.

"This should be called a monster core. So cool!"

He walked towards the corpse and picked up the glowing stone.

The monster core was like an uneven stone you can find on any corner of the street. But unlike an ordinary stone, this monster's core was glowing in a faint red light. It also has a strange engraving of the cyclobear on it. Although uneven, its surface was smooth to the touch. Even providing a sense of heat when holding it.

"This can probably be sold for a high price." Liam wondered.

'However, I won't sell it. I'll keep it as a memento! I'll put it on a shelf to always remind me of my first kill and the first monster core I got after being reincarnated in this world.'

Hehe, so cool!

Liam has a hobby of displaying things he obtained due to various reasons to help him remember even the smallest thing he has done. After all, he has some problems with his memories. He doesn't even know his parents or his siblings' birthdates.

"I hope they are doing well back there..." Liam's smile slowly faded. Noticing he was about to frown, he smiled back again and smacked his own face with his two palms.

Looking on the bright side, their son is currently exploring a foreign world.

After gaining back his composure, he stared in the mountain's direction and didn't hesitate running towards it.

Five minutes passed. Liam's speed was decreasing. He was getting tired. He thought the mountain was much closer than he thought. Who knew it was too far? To add grain to the salt, the rain wasn't showing signs of stopping, in fact, it was only getting stronger.

"Fricking cold..."

Liam continued running until at last, he reached the mountain. He didn't know if he was blessed by Lady Luck all of a sudden but he saw a cave in it. However, it was somehow situated twenty feet above the ground. He walked slowly to the towering mountain and looked around.

Well, the mountain was on the short side of the spectrum but standing in front of it and looking up, it's really towering indeed.

Tsk...

Before he could begin climbing, a figure quickly outline itself in the exact place where Liam emerge.

The boy turned his head and looked at this stranger.

She was in a simple white linen shirt and ordinary fitted jeans. Three scabbards were tied behind her waist. She has long platinum-blonde hair tied in a ponytail complementing her snow-white skin. The strange thing was that she was wearing a blindfold on her eyes, entirely covering them.

The woman was obviously in a hurry. When she noticed Liam she was alarmed and drew one of the swords behind her, pointing the tip in Liam's direction.

"Oi, dear madam, I'm not an enemy," Liam yelled, unafraid of the girl in front of him. He was sure the lady in front of him was a girl. The reason? The two huge peaks in the woman's chest.

She seems to be in her early twenties. Although some part of her face was covered, I can tell she is a beauty. Liam was a teenage boy, so he can't help but imagine this woman's face.

The woman didn't move. She continued pointing her sword in a threatening manner.

"Are you deaf?"

'Or you can't understand me?' He added inwardly.

Since he was a foreigner in this unknown world, the language spoken here might be different from back on earth.

So he shouted in different languages including English, Kugo, Tagalog, and Nihongo.

But to his dismay, the girl didn't respond nor move from his position.

'Ah f*ck it...'

He decided to ignore the girl and began climbing.

The cave wasn't that high, Liam successfully entered the cave and rest in the corner of the dark cave. He laid his body comfortably on the ground.

Liam was used to camping. And sleeping on an uneven surface was fine for him.

He was about to completely fall asleep when he heard someone jumping. He looked out into the cave's entrance with his peripheral vision and saw the strange lady gracefully landing on the ground. The air around her compressed and help her slowly descend.

'Indeed a fairy.' Liam commented inwardly before his tired eyes closed again.

The woman moved her head as if she can see with her eyes covered. She stared in Liam's direction and her lips quivered a little.

Time passed. Liam slowly opened his eyes.

'I feel warm...'

The rain was still pouring accompanied by frequent lightning and thunder.

This is probably a sign that a transmigrator appeared on this planet... Liam couldn't help but joke in this situation.

He noticed he was covered in a blanket made from a certain animal hide. He also detected a fire near him quietly burning.

"Thank you." He wasn't sure if the blindfolded lady was still there, so he thanked her out loud.

Liam then slowly closed his eyes enjoying the comfy atmosphere in the cave.

The reason why he ignored the lady and turned his back on her was that he simply doesn't care if she'll attack him or not. He was tired, dying was the same as napping. He already died once so dying the second time should be fine.

***

Liam woke up again and felt the rain was about to stop.

He stood up and rubbed his eyes. His nose detected a faint delicious aroma. He couldn't help but salivate.

Liam stared at the blindfolded lady who was roasting some sort of meat on the bonfire.

She gently raised her head and nodded. Liam nodded back.

"Can I have some?" He shamelessly asked noticing she was roasting four skewered meat. Afraid she can't understand him, he pointed to the meat and made a 'give me' gesture.

The lady didn't respond. Liam was starting to believe this lady was handicapped.

Poor girl. She's both blind and deaf.

Before he can start spouting profanity in his mind, the lady handed out one skewered meat to Liam, gently swaying it in his direction.

"Thank you." Liam didn't hesitate and grabbed the food. He ate one mouthful and slowly savored the taste.

Interestingly, this meat has a strange flavor to it. It is entirely different from the meat back on Earth. It has the same texture as the wagyu meat in my homeland. The taste was both sweet and sour. But I can't detect a single seasoning or condiment from it. This flavor is entirely from the meat itself?

Liam talked to himself.

'Too bad I don't have my notebook with me.'

He has a habit of writing down his thoughts in a notebook to record and critic every food he ate. In a sense, he was a food critic.

Since he already know the taste of the meat, he quickly devoured the remaining food. In a blink of an eye, only a stick was left.

"Can I have another one?" Liam's face was much thicker than a book with a thousand pages on it. His hands again showed a 'give me food please' gesture.

The lady nodded and handed him another skewered meat.

"Thank you, my lady." Liam smiled and grabbed the food.

He ate the food without any regard for etiquette.

The lady 'stared' at him and nodded. She grabbed another skewered meat and also began eating. Probably afraid Liam might ask for another one and she might be the one starving in the end.

"I want another one." Liam made another 'give me food please I'm begging you' gesture.

The sitting lady glanced at him and nodded. She gracefully grasped the stick and slowly gave it to Liam.

"Thank you, goddess" Liam's smile grew bigger and he ate it like a barbarian.
