Chapter 2: The hunt
How would you handle her sister...Kristine? you are aware of her warnings right...If I were you, I wouldn't even think of pushing forward with this." Josh warned in a reminder of Rhea's sister's threats.
However, Jason only chuckled in humour at Josh's comment and Kyle joined in to tease him.
"I can see you still remember how she nearly rip off your nose the last time right?" Jason continued laughing hysterically.
"That was all in the past...She is not what she used to be. Kristine has completely changed after her unfortunate incident with Caleb Donnell.. which is good news to us." Jason continued as he tapped Josh's shoulder to reassure him of his fears.
"It's amazing how Kristine completely changed since then...But what if.." Josh stammered.
"There's no time to wonder about the what ifs.. let's look at the present. It's all that matters." Jason added in a fierce tone that shook Josh to speechlessness.
Kristine Sanders has long doubted Jason's intentions on her sister Rhea, hence, she never hid the fact about her hatred toward him ever since Rhea introduced him as her boyfriend.
Moreover, Jason's Badboy lifestyle didn't sit well with her too. Therefore, she was against Rhea's relationship from the beginning.
However, Rhea was so much in love with him she wouldn't pay heed to any of her sister's worries and concerns.
Especially when Kristine discovered Jason's habit of drugs in-take, which brought her on the lookout to save her kid sister, from that foul relationship before Jason ruins Rhea's life in the future.
But Rhea being Rhea, convinced Kristine to acknowledge him, and claimed maybe, she might be the reason for Jason to soon transform for the better.
All Rhea didn't know was that, no matter how a snake sheds its skin, it was still a snake. It doesn't change its appearance.
On this night of their Prom, everybody was celebrating with the loudest music, mixed with screams and making merry...Jason excused himself from his friends and took Rhea to the dancefloor for a dance.
"Here Rhea...Let's cheer to tonight!" Jason handed Rhea a champagne drink which he spiked with drugs. After a while, Rhea's world began to spin and she nearly collapsed but Jason caught her before she fell.
"What's wrong, Rhea...Are you okay?" Jason asked with a faked worry.
"I don't know what's wrong with me. I don't think I am alright...I need a moment's rest. Must be the over-excitement of the day." Rhea blabbered feeling dizzy.
Jason took that advantage to take Rhea to his private room which he booked to allow her some rest. He again spiked her glass of water and handed it to Rhea to drink and calm her nerves.
Unfortunately, Rhea unknowingly drank every drop of whatever Jason offered her until she collapsed and fell into a deep slumber of unconsciousness.
Jason left Rhea soundly asleep in his private room and return to his friends.
"Why did you return so soon? Did you change your mind already?" Josh uttered when he spotted Jason about to join them.
Jason devilishly smiled at his friend's comment before he replied...
"Why rush, when we have a whole night ahead of us...I am keeping my sweet pet for later.
Then both friends seated with him grinned in excitement at Jason's naughty replies.
"I thought you might finish early, and invite us for a bite into your sweet snack." Kyle teased, looking amused.
Until Jason's hard fist landed on his jaw for his foul comment. Which suddenly shocked both of Jason's friends. And Josh stood up to calm down Kyle's rage before it proceeds into a brawl.
"Calm down guys...Let's not ruin this lovely time with a brawl... Come, let's drink to the night! Cheers!..." Josh called out to both of his angry friends.
Jason calmed down after he heard Josh's comment, and picked up his glass to accept his toast, while Kyle who was yet to recover from Jason's punch was fuming in anger and riled within him. But he soon accepted Josh's toast too after a while before the three friends once again cheered to a happy time and continued their enjoyment.
But not before Kyle called Jason out about his reaction a while ago.
"I didn't know you were one to easily fall in love...I wonder who was the easy prey...you or Rhea." The moment Jason heard Kyle's comment, that was when his reaction a while ago began to register.
Jason couldn't believe why he hit Kyle for Rhea, a girl he simply dated on a Dare game between them.
It came as a huge surprise to Jason who seemed confused, much more than it surprised his friends, so he excused himself for some fresh air to clear his thoughts.
In the process of clearing his thoughts, Jason left the party to go for a short drive and forgot about the girl he left sleeping in his room until the party was over. And everybody had returned safely to their homes, except Rhea who was still knocked down, still unconscious...
Meanwhile, Kristine was restlessly waiting for her sister to get home as she kept looking at the clock which read two am. She tried calling Rhea many times but it all went unanswered which increased her worries.
Meanwhile, their proud father...Steven Sanders was about to call his girls to bid them good night. Since he waited all night for his daughters' to call.
Rhea's Prom party was an out-of-town event, so she left home to the state where her sister was currently a resident there, as a college student.
Steven Sanders and his wife, the girls' mother...Rachel Sanders, allowed Rhea to go for her Prom because Kristine was there to take care of her. But it was still two am in the morning and the worried father didn't hear from his little princess, about how her Prom night went which was quite unlike Rhea. She would have called continuously to tell him every intimate detail about her time at the party...but nothing! So he wanted to call right now and find out.
On the other hand, Kristine kept pacing back and forth in her apartment as she looked at the time. She was getting anxious, precisely due to Jason. But what mostly scared her was what he might do to Rhea. She had never trusted Jason's intentions.
Kristine was worried Jason might take a huge step to consummate his relationship with Rhea. So he would take advantage of Rhea's excitement at tonight's party to execute his plans. She then decided to trace Rhea's foot to the party.
Kristine has tried everything she possibly could, to end her sister's relationship with her good-for-nothing boyfriend since the beginning. But Rhea wouldn't believe anything she says about Jason's characterless nature.
When Kristine got to the location of the Prom party, she continued calling Rhea's phone, only to hear it ring behind the closed door Thea, Rhea's friend directed her to.
It was the room Jason checked in for the night.
Kristine hastily opened the door to find Rhea knocked out on the bed with the stinking smell of alcohol on her.
Nevertheless, she was relieved Rhea was still in her clothes, and Jason was nowhere to be found. Which meant, nothing happened between them...a minor relief actually.
"Rhea...Rhea come on! wake up!" Kristine tapped her sister's cheek, and shook her affectionately to wake her up! But it seemed Rhea was knocked out badly, so she moved to check Rhea's breath by placing her finger to her nose, but Rhea's faint breathing alarmed her to attention, and Kristine feared for her sister's life. So she immediately picked up her phone and dialed 911.
Moments later, the danger signal of an ambulance siren was heard in the entire venue, which arouse panic and concerns as Rhea's lifeless body was wheeled into the ambulance, and Kristine jumped behind in panic to escort her sister to the hospital.
At the hospital, the doctor who attended to Rhea approached Kristine after Rhea's checkup to report on her condition.
"Who are you to the patient?" The doctor asked.
"Her sister...I am her blood-related elder sister. please tell me she is alright and nothing happened to her." Kristine pleaded with the doctor restlessly.
"She is fine for now, but I won't be so sure about later...Since when has your sister been taking drugs? The tests came out positive." The doctor curiously asked. Rhea was too young to adopt the wayward lifestyle of getting into drugs which was a cause for alarm.
But Unfortunately, that was news to Kristine, who became so frightened about the confirmation of her worst fears....her sister had started taking drugs, which Jason had introduced her to. This was bad!
After Rhea's recovery, Kristine confronted Rhea about when and how she started doing drugs.
"Me? drugs...could you hear yourself? would you stoop this low to accuse me just so you could end my relationship with Jason?. Why can't you stand seeing me happy for once?" Rhea denied it and her replies shocked Kristine out of her wits.
"Do you want to use that excuse to break up my relationship with Jason? Why are you are making up all these lies?" Rhea left the apartment in anger after her outburst which shook the roots of Kristine's worst nightmare. She couldn't believe Rhea just assumed she was making up stories.
What should she do to free Rhea from that guy's bondage? What?
A few months later...
Rhea's acceptance into Kristine's college led them into sharing a room together, even though Kristine graduated shortly after Rhea's admission into college. Yet, Kristine convinced their parents to stay longer in her college state, and work there for some time since she wouldn't want Rhea to feel lonely during her stay in her new college. Their Parents gladly agreed to her request with the condition that both girls would return home together to spend their entire holidays with them.
Meanwhile, the hidden reason behind Kristine's determination to stay behind was to look out for Rhea who was still dating Jason despite all her warnings. She had tried everything possible over the months to make Rhea end the relationship, and convince her against her boyfriend who appeared to be a ticking time bomb and a threat in her life.
On Rhea's first day in college, Jason hosted a surprise party to commemorate Rhea's college admission and invited most of their schoolmates.
Rhea, whom Jason now loved to the point of obsession became extremely excited. She and Jason had been through thick and thin in their relationship, until Jason turned her life as a once innocent Rhea, into a part of his wayward careless lifestyle... Rhea was now introduced into the world of drugs and it's been going on for a while now.
However, It seemed the party Jason hosted that day became the last party together in their relationship after Kristine found out and threatened Rhea into finally ending their relationship.
All thanks to Kristine interference, Rhea broke up with Jason the next day when she found out with evidence at the risk of her sister's life, that Jason dated her simply on a Dare game and she promised to never see him again.
But Jason wasn't willing to give up easily on his obsession towards Rhea, until his obsession led him into a near death threat attempt on Rhea's life down the road.
