Chapter 2: Magnus Rackham
David Rackham is a man who has zero potential. He was born in a 1st class noble family in the Iron Empire at the centre of the continent. But because he has less potential than his brothers and sisters he was cast out. He once roamed the central continent to find a living and ultimately ended up becoming the secretary of a mayor who was in charge of one of the biggest Sun Sect cities. From there because of his loyalty he rose through rank and became the mayor of the city.
Years passed after he became the mayor of Kazam. He got married and started to live a peaceful life but all of a sudden everything turned upside down. You see as a ruler he ruled the Kazam at the beginning very well. People were happy, prosperity started to flow through the city. At around that time his wife became pregnant. It was the happiest moment of his life but soon he started to notice something. His wife who was in Qi Gathering stage, Level 19 suddenly fell ill.
It's unusual for a cultivator to fall ill. So David became desperate. He started to contact a lot of people but nobody could find any cure. Day by day his wife's health became worse. David was at the very low point at that time and out of desperation he contacted the people who he swears to never contact them again, his family. Even though he cut all ties to his family but he still bagged them to send someone to check his wife. Out of surprise they sent one of his sisters who travelled to Kazam. She investigated David's wife but this time the cause of the illness is discovered.
"Qi deviations. But not your regular Qi deviation instead of a more deadly one. There's a parasite inside the body, a known parasite. If it's a normal parasite I could've dealt with it easily but this time it's different. The parasite invaded the child inside and now it speeds up the process of Qi draining 3 times faster for an unknown. At this point saving both is impossible. You have to choose?"
How can a father choose such an impossible task. He was desperate, but before he could choose his wife took the matter on his hand. David wanted his wife to survive but the wife wanted her child to live. As a result David failed to save his wife. On that day he promised one thing that he would do anything to save his son, to raise his son.
Even though he was a neglecting ruler he still tried his best to raise his son. He named his son Magnus. Because of the accident that happened before he was born he was born with a damaged cultivation root. Meaning he can't cultivate. Children like this are known as cursed because in a cultivation world living without a cultivation root is disgraceful. But even so David never abandoned his son. He tried to fulfill every wish his son had. Even to the point of his last breath he protected his son.
When the man in white released his anger David was the first person to jump out and run for his son. He took the 10 year old
son in his arm and running as fast as he can towards the city gate. But before he could reach the saw the fire storm that engulfed the city. He climbed a watch tower and hid from the flame but the flame is too powerful. In order to ensure his son's safety he unleashed all his power and created a barrier. He maintained that barrier until his last breath even infusing his blood in the barrier. That's why Magnus survived even though it's hell outside. David Rackham died saving his son. He fulfilled his promise.

One day has already passed by after the destruction. Magnus is sitting in a meditative position in the high watch tower whose side wall and rooftops are already destroyed. At this moment the fire on the outside is still ravaging everything. But amidst all the chaos Magnus is like a small boat but that boat is so strong that fires can't reach close to it. The entire watch tower and its surrounding area is frozen solid and the cold wind sipping from it created a barrier from the storm.

Magnus's mother died after his birth. After a couple of days mourning Magnus's aunt proposed the idea to check if Magnus's cultivation root. At that time David was really worried cause if his son possesses a great root his sister might inform their family and he might lose Magnus. He doesn't want to lose his son too so he hoped that Magnus would have a lesser quality cultivation root. But to his surprise Magnus doesn't possess any roots. His aunt then hypothesised that the parasite invaded Magnus's mind so it probably destroyed the root. Although David is happy now he kinda feels bad that his son can't cultivate and he swears that day that he would protect his son at the cost of his life.

Magnus opened his eyes. In front of him is the burning city and a fire storm that constantly crushes the barrier. He looked at the surroundings and finally found a body that was lying close by. The body is completely cold as if all the blood is gone cold. He went up and crutched down close to the body. In his eyes there's a tiny bit of tear which started to roll down in his cheek.
"It's my fault. If I didn't shut down my memory for the shake of living peacefully with you, you might've lived today."

Many years ago when Magnus was born he realised that he can think. He doesn't know how it is but he has a huge amount of knowledge. He also realised that he was a child and it's impossible to have so much knowledge at this point of life. Means his brain is already mature.
That also means he now understands he lost his mother.
"Mother. I am sorry. I never wanted something like this to happen. I am sorry. I promised that I won't cause any trouble and love happily with my father for the rest of my life."
That's the only thing young Magnus could think at that moment.
After that when Magnus is one year old he starts to grasp the power he has. First of all he identified the parasite that invaded him.
" I never knew a brain Parasite would've invaded my mother. But that being said it's impossible for neither of us to survive. But how am I survived?"
After searching in his memory he realised that the brain Parasite is not a very common parasite. Even in the far space, brain Parasite is a complete mystery to even a galactic civilization. Brain Parasite is a mysterious creature. It's a very rare sort of legendary. And it looks like it has a mind of its own. Brain Parasites are not many probably 5 or 6 at different regions of space. They live by invading people's brains and eating it. They mostly invade fallen powerful warriors of level 60 to 90. In the memory of the brain Parasite Magnus finds out that all the people it invaded and their own memory. It's the last victim before him and his mother is a warrior in this world. He was the emperor of the Red Dragon Empire, the world's most powerful empire named Roger Red Dragon. But according to his mother's memory it looks like Roger died 100 years ago because of getting old. He was a warrior of level 70 and he already lived more than ten thousand years. This world's Universal Qi is very limited and breaking away from the planetary cage is also very tough for these people.
"From there the Parasite lived a long time in this world and it probably invaded my mother because she possesses a certain type of high grade brain. "
That's right this pervert parasite only invades people of high grade brain quality. Magnus's mother possesses Gold Quality the highest of the grade. Even he was surprised that his mother possesses such a great brain but a low grade cultivator.
