Chapter 9: Trials
(DIANE)
Liam sat on the chair directly facing me. He was acting so weird. "What's wrong?" I asked concerned.
"Nothing" he answered with a straight face. After a few moments of silence, my phone beeped. It flashed alerting me that i had a message. I picked it up the phone beside me and unlocked it. It was an anonymous message. And I didn't know who it was from. I clicked on the message icon to view it.
My eyes widened as i read the text that was sent. 'He knows your secret'.
I took my eyes off the phone for a moment to steal a glance at Liam. He was staring at me with so much intensity. I could feel a rush down my spine.
"Who was that?" I heard Liam’s voice travel across the room.
"Just some of my few colleagues at the office...." i lied to him hoping it would be believable.
".... they haven't been seeing me at work so they're concerned".
I got up from the couch i was sitting and headed toward the door.
"Where are you going?" Liam said with a calm evil tone. I could tell that he was boiling inside.
"I'll be just a minute" i let out a fake smile and shut the door behind me.
I quickly called back the unknown number that had messaged me.
"Yes?" The person at the other end of the call said.
"Oh, so its you?"
"Yes it's me.... you have to abort the plan, Kayla ratted us out"
"What?!" I exclaimed, shocked at what i had just heard.
I then recalled that it might've been her who called him out.
I sat on the floor at the entrance of the house thinking of what i could do.
I really wanted Liam to know the truth but at the same time I didn't want to tell him. I needed to get the revenge needed for my best friend. I had mixed feelings. I was really beginning to fall in love with Liam but felt hatred towards him.
I was in my head full of thoughts when i heard the door click behind me.
I turned my head to look when I was grabbed by the throat by Liam and pushed aggressively to the wall after he had raised me.
"You got something to tell me?" Liam looked so angry. I had never seen him pissed like this before. He was always free and full of life.
I tapped his hand begging for him to let me go.
"I can explain" i said choking trying to breathe.
"Why will i listen to anything you have to say?"
"Please" i begged with tears now floating in my eyes.
Liam stood there staring at me. His palm now squeezing my throat a lot harder. I could feel myself loosing consciousness when he suddenly let go. I fell on the floor coughing gasping for air then slightly raised my head up to look at him. He was really in no mood to be double crossed now and i would not want risking the option of making a run for it cause if he ends up catching me, I'd be dead for sure.
Liam began to walk closer to me. When he was directly in front of me. He squatted down and placed a finger on my chin, raising up my head in a way he saw fit. Then he spoke.
"NOW..... TALK"
