Chapter 12: Wants

Its been 2 days since i had the encounter with Diane. Maybe what i did wasn't cool but I definitely didn't feel sorry in any way.
I was deep in thought when my phone rang bringing me to reality. I pulled out the phone from my pocket and swiped to pick it up. I placed the phone on my ear to see who was calling.
"Hello?" I said waiting to hear who it was.
"Hi, this is Doctor Anne, am I speaking to Liam?"
"Yes you are, who is this?" I asked the Lady speaking.
"Um, please head to Free Hospital as soon as you can"
Before i could speak she had already hung up the phone.
I sat at the counter of the bar i went to for about 5minutes.
"Check please" i said tapping my finger on the table.
An hour later, after a somewhat long drive, i arrived at the hospital. I walked to the counter and there was a lady in a white nurse’s dress sitting behind the counter making a call.
"Hi" i said leaning on the counter so the lady could hear me. As fast as she could, she put the call in hold and gave me her attention.
"Well hello, how may i help you?" The lady said obviously eye banging me from head to toe.
"Um, hi I’m Liam and I'm here to see doctor Anne, she asked me to come see her".
"Oh yeah, she said you'd be coming" the lady said smiling at me nonstop.
"Just take a left after the corner, she's in the third ward, you'll find her there" she said getting up from her chair and directing me.
"Thanks....um...Lola?I said glancing at her name tag.
"Oh you're welcome" she sat back slowly on her chair.
As i walked away toward the direction she pointed out, i could feel her still staring at me.
As I approached the door, i wondered why the doctor would want to see me and what would be awaiting me at the other side.
I pushed the door open and behold, it was Kayla lying on the bed. She looked battered all over. Her face was red and swollen, she had a black eye and she could hardly speak.
I looked across the room and a lady was standing beside her bed.
"You must be Doctor Anne i presume"
"Yes i am" she said walking toward me.
"Sorry, but she asked me to call you" she continued.
After Doctor Anne and i spoke a little, she walked out the door and shut it behind her to give us privacy.
I strolled to the bedside of Kayla and stared at her almost feeling remorse.
"So what happened and who did this?" I asked inquisitively.
"It was Diane" Kayla spoke trying hard to be loud.
"She came over to my place unexpectedly and beat me up".
"And why did she?" I asked
"Because i told you everything obviously" she responded while rolling her eyes.
"And how'd she find out?"
"I think someone told her, but I'm not sure who".
I stood still like a statue brainstorming and thinking about what to do.
"She's coming for you you know?" Kayla said softly.
I didn't answer but just stared into the air lost in thought.
"Please you gotta let me help you" Kayla said grabbing my hand.
"Nah, i think I'm good.....I'll handle it myself"
"You can't....." Kayla cut me off mid-sentence.
"....there are other people who are after you and you will need my help". She sounded serious this time.
"Oh yeah?" I asked
"Yes"
"And what's in it for you?" I was so curious about where our conversation was headed.
"Well, for real this time, i would like you to date me".
I found the statement Kayla made so funny I laughed so hard.
"But you know I don't feel for you yes?" I said with a straight face.
"I know but we could become something more".
I stood there taking in all that Kayla had said and thought to myself, what have i got to loose?
"Alright then.....I'll do it" Kayla was excited with my reply.
"But if this is a ruse....I'll definitely kill you myself".
Kayla nodded her head having a little smile.
"Now, What's the plan?" As i asked that question, a nurse with a nose mask came into the room and pulled out a gun on us.
"DONT MOVE” the nurse said as she pointed the gun at us.
”OH YOU BOTH ARE DEAD NOW!"
