Chapter 45: Chapter 39 - Saving Senju Nawaki
Tori Uzumaki, that was the name of the woman I met in the village, after talking with her I found out that she was a member of the Uzumaki Clan that survived the massacre.
Her husband is a shinobi, who saved her, though she was unwilling to give any more information about him as she didn't trust me that much.
After I asked her if she wanted to go to a safe place to live, she refused because she said she would go with her husband who would be coming back in a while.
Seeing that she did not agree to leave with me I could not tell her about the secret village we established.
Though I was reluctant, I could not spend more time persuading her to leave with me so after some discussion with her she agreed to me giving her a life-saving sealing technique for her safety and the safety of her child, when I proved my connection to the Uzumaki.
'Though proving that took a lot of effort.'
After spending a night in the village I continued on my way and entered the country of grass, I started to slow down and increased my vigilance, by nightfall I was near the border of Rain Village closing in on the battlefield.
As I set up my place to rest, I suddenly looked down and saw the pendant emenating a slight glow, it took me a moment to realise that the target of my first mission was close.
After I spent some time walking around and watching the changes in the pendant I saw it glow stronger when I walked in one particular direction.
So I quickly packed up my tent and followed the direction where the pendant glowed stronger.
After journeying for three long hours, it finally led me to a place that looked like a camp of a small group of ninjas in the distance, I quickly used my Ghost technique to hide myself from any sensory ninjas.
I made a hiraishin mark a little distance away from the camp and spent the next 4 hours walking around and examining the camp before finally infiltrating it.
Inside what looked like a resting place for Genin I finally found my target who was sleeping peacefully despite his glowing necklace and me standing right behind him.
I quickly made a hiraishin seal on his back and even when I touched him he didn't wake up, seeing that my work was done I teleported out of the camp, though it looked like my use of chakra had sent them on an alert they didn't find anything amiss the camp.
I walked a little further away from the camp to rest as I planned on how to fake Senju Nawaki's death.
The next morning I woke up and used my tracker my pendant sensed its counterpart moving away and after confirming the location of the hiraishin seal and sensing both directions being the same I quickly packed up and followed while maintaining my transformation.
While we continued on our journey I took a look at the map and realized that the group was moving in the direction of Country of Earth, but I was puzzled why a single Genin team was sent there.
As I thought back to what Aunt Mito told me about the planning of Senju Nawaki's death I realised that it might be a plan made by that Dango.
Once I thanked him in my mind for the timely assist I quickly got up and went ahead of the Genin team to scout out further and see if there was any ambush or traps in place to kill Nawaki and if not I would have to prepare one myself.
After walking further ahead of them I came across a group of ninjas in the same uniform as the one Lord Dango's subordinate who intercepted me wore, and they were setting up multiple traps along the way that the Genin team was walking.
I put my hands together and thanked Lord Dango once again as I hid in the vicinity of traps and used my Ghost technique to hide my chakra signature.
'All hail Lord Dango, the one that helps his enemies.'
While I was waiting for the genin team to reach the trap I had my food, teleported near the previous big camp to hide my box and came back.
By nighttime I saw the Genin team approach and Senju Nawaki jump ahead towards the trap, I panned to kill the other two guys as well for I saw them fall behind purposely when reaching the trap but I felt someone super strong coming close.
I realised that those guys might be involved in the matter regarding Nawaki's death but the aura of the person that was approaching foiled my plans as I didn't want to expose myself yet.
So I went with the second option which was to be fast so that I don't get discovered, I instantly reached my maximum attention and unlocked the yin seal.
I took out the decoy corpse and confirmed my connection to both Nawaki's seal and the seal back in the hidden village of Uzumaki.
As soon as I saw Nawaki jump over the rock and into the trap I teleported to him, and let go of the corpse and the necklace I was holding in my left hand.
I used my right hand to grab him and teleported away before the trap exploded.
I had watched the ninjas who set up the trap and knew the trap would explode as soon as anything touched it.
I didn't teleport to my previous location where I hid because I was afraid the strong person who was coming would discover me as I could only hide my chakra with the Ghost technique.
Taking into consideration I teleported Senju Nawaki to the hidden village as it might cause a commotion if I teleported him to the Senju Compound and he gets discovered.
Had I stayed behind, I would have met Orochimaru who was the person who found the necklace which was something I will come to know later but for now I had completed the first objective of my mission with great success.
