Chapter 10: Chapter 09- New Highschool (Part 2)

Chapter 09- New Highschool (Part 2)

"Rena, wait!" A voice called from behind them and made them turn around. The person calling was a boy their age who seemed also to be a student of this school. He was slightly above average in terms of looks with slitted-back blonde hair and blue eyes. He had a slight smirk on his face that added a sense of arrogance to his lofty demeanor.

Reo didn't even need to talk to him to know that this boy was there to spoil the fun. But, he still gave him the benefit of the doubt and didn't say anything. Rena was the one he called for, anyway.

"What?" Rena replied with a cold tone that made her look scary. It was obvious that she didn't particularly like him either. Secretly, Reo prepared himself to move in case he tried to do anything out of nowhere.

"It has been a while. How are you? Why didn't you reply to my messages?" He asked as he tried to approach her.

However, Reo made a slight advance and stood in front of Rena. His cold eyes glared at the boy.

"What do you want, peasant?" He asked as he clicked his tongue and changed his tone completely.

"Nothing, really. I was just making sure that you don't make any other steps. " Reo replied casually.

"Huh?! Did you go nuts, peasant? Who the fuck are you?"

Reo didn't answer and looked at Rena who had a small smile on her face for some reason. His glance was more than enough for her to understand his intentions. She nodded her head before looking at the boy with a disgusted look as if he was even worse than a pig submerged in dirt and feces.

"My name is non of your business. Anyway, my friend here doesn't want to talk so leave peacefully. We don't want troubles on the first day of school."

The boy glared daggers at Reo and spat out.

"Do you not know who I am? I am Oliver Lockwood, my family has shares in Ogma corp. If you don't want to get into big troubles then leave us alone." Oliver replied.

"I see, so you are a big shot. Hmm, I see. Well, the thing is. I couldn't care less whether you are rich or not, Chopwood or whatever. My friend doesn't want to talk to you and I am simply helping her out."

"Lockwood!! It's Lockwood, you fucking dirty peasant." He shouted at the top of his lungs, garnering the attention of the students around them who stopped to take a look. They all immediately knew Rena and started whispering between them.

"Isn't that Rena Strain? Damn, I never thought I will see a person of her caliber this close."

"She is so beautiful! Is that even fair, man? She could make any other woman look like a fat cow. I would kill someone and then skin them alive just to date her for one single day."

"Me too. Besides, look at the boy standing beside her. He is stupidly handsome. I bet he's her lover or something."

Such conversations were occurring around the trio. But, none of them cared about that at all.

"Listen, Peasant. You are just a fucking poor commoner and you think you have the right to even talk with Rena. She is from the Strain, the biggest family in the whole city. The fact that you could even see her up close is an honor for you."

Reo didn't react to his words. However, it wasn't the same case for Rena. A huge frown appeared on her face and her anger started boiling violently. She felt as if her whole desire now was to cut that piece of shit to pieces because of his words.

So, she tapped Reo's chest gently and then stepped in front of him. Her eyes were so emotionless that it was spine-chilling for everyone present.

"Listen, Lockwood. I am a very tolerant person and I can forgive any mistakes people do. People make mistakes and that's fine. But, there is one thing that I will never tolerate and that is disrespecting Reo. He is way way better than you. Wait, why am I even comparing both of you? It's a bad joke."

"W-What?" Oliver could barely believe his ears. He had always been madly in love with Rena since the moment they met at a party when they were way younger. Her smile, her cold personality, and her calm yet also incredibly graceful demeanor

Since then, he had tried to get closer to her with everything he got. He even made sure that they both study in the same classes every single year for the past 10 years. But, forget about getting close, Rena didn't even give him a glance let alone speak to him. This broke his heart but it also made him even more tenacious.

But, even with the cold glances she always gave him he had never seen her this angry.

'Who is this guy to make Rena this angry?! Wait, don't tell me…' His mind raced around looking at all the possibilities and each one of them was even worse than the other.

"I think I was never clear with you so let me be straight. I don't want to talk with you, look at you or even sense your presence around me. So, leave me alone." She said.

Then, she looked back at Reo with a slightly sad look before grabbing his arm and walking away. They didn't go straight to class but to a secluded area of the school where no one could see them talking.

"What's wrong, Rena?"

The girl didn't reply immediately and merely looked down. Then, after taking a deep breath, she asked.

"Are you not angry?"

"About what?"

"About… My family's background. I never told you about that and I thought you might get angry after that insect told you. I swear I was intending to tell you as soon as possible."

Reo looked at her silently before he exploded in laughter. He chuckled loudly and made Rena tilt her head in confusion.

"Hahaha, my bad. Your apologetic face was very lovely that it made me laugh."

"Huh?! L-Lovely?"

He then coughed slightly and grabbed Rena's shoulders and gazed deep into her beautiful eyes as if he wanted to pry open her soul and see inside.

"Listen, Rena. I already knew that you weren't as simple as you looked. But, see, I never changed my attitude nor did I try to get away from you. Because I know that your heart is still pure and money and status will never corrupt you or change you. You are still you, Rena, my dear childhood friend that I love a lot. So, don't try to think that I will hate you or anything, Ok?"

Rena took a few seconds before she replied.

"Ok."

"Good, let's go back now. The class is about to start." He then turned around and started walking away.

When he was far enough, Rena moved and rested her back against the wall as she started breathing up and down heavily. She touched her heart with her shaky hands. It was beating so loudly that it made her feel dizzy and lightheaded.

'No way!! No way, no way, no way, no way. He said he loves me a lot. Does he mean it? I mean, love can't just be in the form of friendship. But then again, it is not a full confession. Still… I can't feel my legs, I am so happy. What the hell?! He can't say that so simply. If he does that again I will lose my mind. Reo, you idiot! Idiot! A big idiot!!' She tried to calm down before she slapped her cheeks a few times to get rid of the redness and then followed him.

Even though she looked pretty normal from the outside, her mind was still a huge mess and her thoughts were messy.

As for Reo, he didn't really think his honest feelings will make his childhood friend almost lose her mind because of him.

Words sometimes are way more lethal than any weapon, after all.
