Chapter 7: Wasn't A Foodie.

With a black bathrobe tied securely around her slender waist and another towel wrapped around her hair to get it dried, she padded her milky white feet out of the bathroom into the room. She just finished having a cold bath and she was feeling a banging headache, she was having a hangover due to last night's drinking in the bar.

Memories of what happened last night began flooding her head, from when she entered the bar to how she reached home to meet a nuisance like Lexi but something wasn't really clear. She clearly remembered how she was trying to strangle Lexi last night but she couldn't recall the reason why, even when she held Lexi's neck, she knew someone stopped her on time but she couldn't remember who was it. It seems the alcohol took a few of her memories.

She sat on the stool of the vanity mirror, she could feel her head aching badly. Jesy knew she wasn't someone who drank alcohol, she hated alcohol, in all her twenty-three years of existence, she never took alcohol and even hated it but it became her companion last night at the bar, how ironic. Something she hates was the only thing that was capable of filling in the emptiness of her being.

Today was supposed to be a less eventful day but considering what happened last night, Jesy could bet that wouldn't be the case, after all, she harmed the princess and the treasure of the house, how could today be so uneventful? She let out an exhausted sigh as she rested her chin on her palms and stared at her reflection in the mirror. She saw how pale she was looking and the eye bags were very visible under her eyes, her lips lacked colour too, and she was looking like a miserable mess. Jesy smiled at herself, a self-mockery smile.

She needed to stop being the stupid person she was and finally accept the fact that even though she was part of this family, she would never be treated as one. After what felt like minutes running by, she began preparing herself for the day, so much was going to happen today and she was already bracing herself for it.

Jesy did not even bother to apply any make-up to hide the eye bags, she didn't mind looking like a ghost coupled with her pale face and lips. She walked to her wardrobe to get something to wear, and that was when she realized she needed to change her wardrobe and she made a mental note to go shopping later for clothes. Jesy randomly picked up a pair of black ripped jeans pants and a yellow top to match.

She got dressed and parked her black long hair up in a ponytail, she walked out of her room and was surprised at how quiet the house was but she didn't care, maybe they were still asleep. Today was a Sunday, her parents would surely be home since Sunday wasn't part of their working days.

Her parents, Mr and Mrs Anthony were workaholics, they worked endlessly in a civil service commission. They could be barely seen at home except for Sundays, they went to work so very early only to return very late at night and Jesy was very blissful about it and blessed the person who made such working rules in their company. If her parents were always home, then her already miserable life would be worse she would have wished to kill herself.

Jesy walked into the kitchen only to be welcomed by a very dirty and littered kitchen. She shook her head at how lazy Lexi had been yesterday that she didn't even bother to clean the kitchen. Jesy did the cleaning herself and emptied the trash, it was a daily routine because Lexi never bothered herself with the house chores and it was left to Jesy to do.

After contemplating much, she decided to prepare an omelette, sandwich and a cup of hot coffee for breakfast, she wasn't a foodie and any little amount of food was good enough to fill her stomach so long as it was edible.

While she cooked, the memories of how she used to cook for Josh flooded in but she quickly shook the thought away and continued with what she was doing. Suddenly, something flashed, if she had tried to hurt Lexi which she did, then that was to say Lexi should be at a hospital, right? Was that why the house felt empty? But she shrugged the thought away and continued her cooking, wherever the happy family wanted to be, they were free, and she wouldn't care anymore. Jesy was no longer the girl who would feel hurt at the thought that her family left for somewhere without bringing her along, she was now a changed person with a changed heart and feelings.

At the sight of the mouthwatering food, her eyes brightened and shone like dynamite, a total difference from the empty, hollow, cold eyes that were under the influence of alcohol and sorrow last night.

Jesy ate her breakfast but the hangover was still there, she needed drugs. Hangover soups were the perfect thing she was supposed to take to help get rid of the pain in her head but, the unfortunate thing was, she didn't know how to prepare a good hangover soup, she was ever taught how to, no one ever cared for her, only Lexi was taught most of the basic learning outside school as they grew up, Jesy learnt the few things about cooking that she knew online, they were just simple food and she thanked the seventh heaven that she wasn't a food lover. She finished the food and washed the dirty dishes and took medicine to help with her hangover.

Out of mere curiosity, she walked to Lexi's room to knock but no reply came, she had no idea why she was curious but she couldn't help it. Jesy constantly knocked nonstop but when no reply came after so much knocking, she frowned and so many questions came flooding her head. She finally decided and pushed the door open after turning the doorknob but was met with an empty room and the bed was looking like no one had slept on it. She entered the room and walked to the bathroom and saw it was also empty, she walked to the balcony but met not a single soul there, and her frown deepened even more.
