Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Under Your Nose

I'm surprised that Lilith didn't try to sneak into my bed in the morning just to piss Leilah off. Heck even Leilah was half expecting it.
But I'm seriously mentally drained from the fight, didn't help as I look over the files of the people who could have possibly be responsible for the deaths of so many people by stealing and killing the kraken's children.
We got 4 people that overlapped between the navy's investigation's and ours, all of which are 7 star mages, but based on what Maple said, it was definitely more people, I can detect lies when it comes to interrogation, so as long as we get a couple who talks, even if it's a false truth, we can know the culprit.
If we get a silent one, well, the torture methods I know aren't that effective.

Chief Aminu place too much expectations for me.
But I don't know if anyone noticed, but the kraken said that it got a mate who died(male octopus die after intercourse), so there must be other krakens in the depths, and that's a scary thing.
An unknown force of destruction is just lurking there...surprised that no one thought to...these guys may just use these kraken eggs to raise a destructive army of their own, but they clearly don't have the skill necessary to control such a destructive force.
Unless...I heard that one of the roses have the power to control or hypnotize certain living things, though limited in numbers, what if that kraken have the lord involved? I may just be pulling strings here, but the possibility always exist.
There are 8 roses in the world, 2 are with me, 1 in Tehios, 1 is with Reiner, another is the eastern continent if I remember correctly while the white rose and the rest are within the direct command of the demon lord. And the one in the eastern continent is the yellow rose, the one with the powers to control a limited amount of living beings.
"You're cute when you're doing your research." Leilah commented and yawned as she probably just woke up "Your calm face is seriously handsome."
"Yeah thanks, just thinking of what to do next. I plan on visiting the desert."
"Why?"
"To see if the cliché are real, heatwaves so strong that everything in sight seems to wobble, a guy welcoming the protagonist with a cool dramatic voice, ahem, 'Welcome my friends, to the desert of my readers are clearly spending their christmas alone', a person of the main cast profusely sweating while making funny jokes in the background, a camel chewing something slowly, all of this with some like middle eastern music in the background."
Admit it, they always have those clichés, but the desert always have some dungeon or something for me to explore, so I plan to do that. Apparently the heroes are making a good reputation for themselves in Zoris. Mine should spread soon too since the desert also got a couple monsters for me to take care of.
Though out of nowhere, Leilah just planted a kiss on my lips which I broke off.
"Don't look disappointed, I need to put these files away first, don't wanna damage em."
Leilah POV
I admit, I was jealous, so I planted a kiss on him and tried to get even, but he broke off so quick, I was really disappointed till he said that. After he put away the files, he quickly embraced me.
I remember meeting him at one of his lowest points, we talked a lot, and I helped him out of his misery, it was kind of obvious throughout the years that he had a crush on me, several people do, so it wasn't special. I met a few people multiple times
But after he was free, that stupid therapist convinced him for a good while that I'm not real. He always had that doubt, but he can't use his powers in a dream, so he can't even tell whether I'm lying or telling the truth, a first for him, so he finds our conversation intriguing.
But as he grew, I do find myself being attracted to his stupid smile, so different from when I met him and I slowly started seeing him not just as a potential champion for my powers, but as my future lover. It took a while for me to confront him about his crush and confessed to him. But just when it start to develop from like to love? I do not know.
And it really does make me happy to be with him, I can wait a bit longer, I'm not in a rush to do a lot of things with him, though I do get jealous. His life on the other side was moving smoothly and I took it away from him, the least I can do is share my love for him with others.
He pulled his lips away after a while, but my arms were still wrapped around his neck as he stays on top of me. He is handsome now, but he'll grow to look even better, why can't time just move faster...
"You seriously are making it hard for me to contain myself." he chuckled
"I told you, as long as you're comfortable, I'm ready to do anything, but if you want me to wait, I'm willing."
"I knew that us kissing is a bad idea, cuz we'll probably do it regularly."
"So you 2 are dating if you're this comfortable." A voice said and we turned to see Lilith standing at the door with her arms crossed "Don't worry, I just arrived, can I join in?"
"We're not dating."
"What are you guys then? Friends with benefits? I mean one of his hand is holding your waist and everything."
"We're just kissing, it's...normal."
"Normal?" she then started to catch onto the joke "I'm here to say one thing before we discuss things with everyone, I'm going to steal him under your very nose."
