Perseus POV
I've faced tough foes before, but this is different. It's so unsettling. I have to remind myself to keep cool, and to maintain focus. But it's easier said than done. Wrath's aura is a challenge to my own inner peace.
I turned to Ruka and I could see that despite her usual collective and nonchalant self, her eyes were slightly twitching. It's unsettling how easily this power can rattle even the most collected minds. I need to remember why I'm here, to confront and resist this guy without letting it consume me.
But it's impossible, I can tell. Ugh, just being around Wrath is seriously getting under my skin. I mean, I knew he's the embodiment of anger and all, but this is on a whole other level. At first, it was just a bit of irritation, you know, like when you're stuck in traffic on a hot day. But now, it's turning into full-blown anger, and I can't even pinpoint why. It's like there's this invisible weight pressing down on me, making my blood boil.
Why is this so infuriating? Why am I getting so worked up?
I can feel my own patience fraying at the edges, my thoughts growing sharper and more pointed. It's a struggle to keep my composure, to resist the urge to lash out in response to this stupidly oppressive atmosphere.
My patience is wearing thin, and I can feel my responses getting sharper and less filtered. The more I resist, the more intense it becomes. I've got to keep my cool and not let this guy's vibe mess with my head.
"I'm sensing a lot of anger in you," he said with an arrogant smirk, "Oh, I'm sensing a lot of frustration too. Something eating at you, perhaps?"
"You could say that. Your vibe is kind of... intense."
"Intense, you say? Well, that's one way to put it. It's amazing what a little anger can accomplish, you know."
"Are you chatting with the enemy?" Ruka asked
"My mind is on fire right now, I need to relieve it a bit."
"Confident, aren't we?" Wrath giggled, "So why are you in this facility freeing everyone? A person with mana like you should be blessed with how the world is going."
"Yeah, destruction and chaos cuz y'all want to destroy the world and create a new one by going through time."
"Chaos can be a powerful catalyst for change, my friend." Wrath said while spreading his arms, "Sometimes, the world needs a good shake-up to break free from complacency, and that's what the world needs, it's why I exist. And now you have the expression of asking me about the cost? Well, sometimes, the cost is worth it and you have to let the old burn to make way for the new."
This isn't going well as the last thing we need is a direct confrontation of our emotions, especially with someone who embodies wrath itself. We need to find a way to defuse this situation, to lower the intensity.
So, maybe... just maybe, I can use a bit of sarcasm, humor even, to get under Wrath's skin. Make him react emotionally, distract him from giving off his aura that is infuriating us. Alright, deep breaths.
"Oh, absolutely, Wrath. I've always believed that causing mass destruction and chaos is the best way to solve our problems. Why didn't I think of it sooner?"
Well, I am doing it, to both worlds, but just go with me here, I'm just delaying this whole thing, Ruka is charging up and we need every advantage we get, I'm gonna lose my mind and my judgment is skewed, so I need to make his the same, even if it's only a little.
"You think this is a joke?" he asked as he saw me crack a smile, "You find this amusing, do you?"
"You're stating the obvious. Well, you're not exactly the life of the party, are you? All this brooding and simmering rage, it's like being in a never-ending thunderstorm without an umbrella."
"You think this is a game? I've caught you, you're dead. And I can still sense the anger within you."
"Isn't it? You're all about chaos and destruction, but what's the endgame here? Do you even have a plan beyond just being angry all the time?"
"My purpose is to cleanse, to purify!"
"Ah, the noble crusade of purifying the world by turning it into a raging inferno. Very original. You do realize that you're fated to lose to me, right? It's how a novel goes."
"You dare mock my purpose?"
Wrath then lunges, his movements are a blur of unrestrained fury. I sidestep, narrowly avoiding the oncoming storm. His attacks are relentless, like a relentless tempest bent on destruction. Each strike is imbued with raw power, and it shatters everything in its path.
I can feel the searing heat radiating from his every blow. And Ruka then brought out her thorning whip and went at him before her other hand sending out a super powerful spell that destroyed the area and the destruction even blew both the floors above and below us.
His body was just smoking after that while he looked just slightly dazed for a moment. I countered as he was dazed, and I launched a swift kick toward his midsection.
He effortlessly deflects the attack, his muscles responding with inhuman speed. The force of his counterattack sent shockwaves of pain through my body as I flew backward and crashed into the super-thick walls
His aura then intensified worse than before and really dark and angry thoughts filled my mind. This is unbearable. My irritation is spiraling into full-blown anger, and now, it's like there's a volcano erupting in my mind.
Every thought, every rational impulse, it's all drowned out by this overwhelming fury. It's like a swarm of dark, angry thoughts, each one more intense than the last, filling my mind like a symphony of rage.
What's happening to me? I can feel my control slipping away, like trying to hold back a tidal wave with my bare hands. Rational thought gives way to a red haze, and my vision narrows to a single, all-consuming desire: to unleash the anger that's been building within me.
"Come on, kill everything." a voice inside my head said, "The world doesn't deserve to stay."
