Chapter 8: Mail

''Harry Potter returns to the Wizarding World!''

Harry chuckled as he read the headline of the Prophet newspaper, whereas his 'return' was more an honorable mention in the quibbler, more so asking if Harry Poter would enjoy an exclusive interview for free papers for life.

Free papers from his favorite source of news? Why not. Problem is he needed a messenger owl.

Standing from his office desk he spoke.

''Pooka.'' With a soundless pop of magic did his Elf appear, looking far different then she had just a few days ago after her change into one of his blood.

Her back had straightened, her skin had begun to clear up and her skin had started to tighten, no longer sagging on her frame in some places.

Her arms and legs had straightened as well, bringing her to a little under his waist now. She still looked like an elf... Just more, like a 'royalty' amongst her kind.

''Yes Masta Pottah?'' She spoke, her voice clear as her vocal cords had evolved, making her voice just a bit more pleasant to hear.

''I'm going out to get a messenger owl, I'll be back shortly. Please prepare me some parchment and a pen so I can write a few letters when I return.''

''Of course, Masta Pottah.'' She bowed softly to him just as a storm of magic engulfed Harry as he apparated out of his mansion and directly for Diagon Alley, landing in the Goblin Landing, which was the one and only place you could 'safely' apparate to directly as it was under watchful eyes of the goblins, and if anyone could easily handle a few unsavory wizards, it was them.

Making his way off the landing he headed up the north street for Eeylops Owl Emporium. Only stopping when his acute ears picked up on the sounds of a bird flapping it's wings.

Looking up he watched as a black falcon opened its wings and landed on his shoulder.

A smart bird with a hint of intelligence in its eyes as it stared at him, it was large as well, a powerful bird. Black feathers with hints of purple hidden away beneath it's first layer of feathers.

He raised his brow as his blood moved, connecting with the bird as it imprinted onto him.

A Blink Falcon, expanding on the falcon's already strong characteristics and intense speed. Now capable of teleporting small distances silently.

As well as the fact it acted much as a familiar, capable of connecting his senses to the bird or directly commanding it through their new connection.

But, there were two things that made this Bird good for Harry.

One, it was undetectable by magical means, meaning no wards could stop it.

Two, it could alter how others perceive it, meaning it might be a falcon to him, but it could appear as an owl to others.

This made it easy to hide his new feathery friend as he reached up and rubbled his index finger under it's beak, getting the bird to rest it's head onto his finger and close it's eyes as it relaxed to his affection.

''Why couldn't you have appeared before I came here? A wasted trip.'' He rumbled a bit before turning around and heading back to the landing.

Once he was there he apparated directly back to his mansion, directly into his office near his desk.

Using one of the many chairs made for guests he transfigured it into a large stand for the Falcon, before setting it next to the window and opening the large double plane windows to let it fly freely until he needed it.

The Falcon took of from his shoulder and took off, eager to see its new home in its entirety.

Finding everything he needed to write letters at his desk he took a seat and began to write, first writing a reply to the Quibbler in response to them asking for a personal interview, saying he would be delighted to.

After, with a lot of posh flairs, he wrote a letter accepting it did he move on to another letter.

One for Amelia Bones, Head of the Magical Law Enforcement of Britain. One asked for a personal sit down to discuss multiple sensitive topics, ones he refuse to go over in detail over mail since they could be intercepted.

Not that his bird could be intercepted... But no one needed to know that but him.

His next letter was to the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. To request a meeting directly, and in return, the name, Harry Potter, would be willing to help him.

All with flair, of course.

It took him about thirty minutes to write all the letters he wanted, including a few letters to certain influencing families, such as Malfoy, Greengrass, and others.

He had considered writing a letter to the Weasleys, their head of house Arthur was the leader of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts, it was considered a 'boring' occupation sure... But there was gold hidden in that bordem, as most of those artifacts that slipped through were owned by normal people turned wizards, meaning there might be some decent contraptions.

After consideration, and further thinking about it, he instead of writing to the 'Head of the Weasley House', wrote directly to Arthur himself, expressing an interest in his job and its process, as well as adding a few ideas that he didn't elaborate in detail that might help the process of his job, making it easier on him.

Once he had finished writing all the letters he called the Falcon back, creating a small bag that could hang around its neck along with an undetectable expansion charm, a featherweight charm, and a few protection charms to make the Falcon's travel easier, he placed all the letters into the bag and tied the bag to the Falcon's neck.

Spending a few moments confirming the bag was comfortable for the falcon to wear before sending it off.

Technically, Owls were trained and had a magical sense, which allowed them to act as messenger owls. But the Falcon was a 'Gift' from the person who had given him his abilities as a Vampire and said gift included the same training and 'ability' that normal owls had.

Once he finished with that ordeal he checked his mechanical watch. Noting it was only 10 in the morning, clicking his tongue a bit he cursed the slow days. Before heading outside into the yard, where he would spend the next many hours practicing his spells, as well as perfecting what the earlier books of Hogwarts had to offer.

Annoyingly he would need to wait for his letter to get the updated list, leaving only a few months at most to practice the spells in it before he would need to start attending.

(End)
