.....................................................

Darkness

An absence of light

A world brimming with shadows

An all-encompassing Black

Empty

Void

Time took no toll here

Time was not a concept here

Light and life had long since left

'This wasn't heaven', the mourning of a soul

'Is it hell?', such trepidation, a sensation this soul was new to

Time passed, was it an instance in time? Or an eternity?

Fear had set in a long time ago, devoid of everything. The soul of Michael Carter despaired.

Faced with such an oppressing scenario, the soul began reminiscing about its past life to prevent emotional and mental decay. A life, a future never had. The soul had just entered university, after years of studying.

17 years, snuffed, just like that in a vile ember.

'Was it fate?', the soul had been born in a Catholic family and had fully believed in God. 'Had God abandoned him here? This, Th-hurk, In This HELL!'

A single wail

'I refuse, I can't-, I CAN'T ACCEPT ANY OF THIS!'

Once the soul expressed such rejection of this, façade of an afterlife. The realm shifted, the shadows moved, and a single point of light was shown.

Reaching out the soul cried

Reaching out the soul was desperate

Reaching out the soul refused to die

Reaching out the soul rejected death

Reaching out the soul reached for the light

Reaching out, the soul was born anew

........................….

For Midoriya Izuku, who had accepted his demise, the afterlife was nothing like he thought. One moment he was dying, the next he was in darkness. Now he stared up at a familiar ceiling, one he had not seen in years.

"What's going on?" wide-eyed the boy was on his feet, tense, his senses alert, reaching out to One for All, he tried to bring it forth, only to realize there was nothing there.

"This is my old room, why am I here? Why can't I feel One for all!"

A room filled with posters, and action figures. Featuring a man who sported a jovial, enlivened smile. Larger than life.

An impossible explanation found its way into Midoriya's head. Heading straight for his computer he checked the date. 6th of December in the year 2138. 7 years in the past, 2 months before the UA entrance exam to be exact.

"Was I…", it felt so unreal to say, "sent back in time?". It was an unfeasible thought, one of the craziest events that he had ever experienced.

A smile. If this was true, the immediate benefits, the possibilities, his regrets, his failures. "I can change everything". A sense of elation, a feeling that he had lost in war, Izuku Midoriya was going to restart everything from square one. To change the future, The hero in him was born again.

The door was pushed open as a short green-haired woman came in. "Izuku! Are you all right, I heard a noise" she said tearily

It seemed that in his excited frenzy he had knocked over his chair.

"Mom?" In that profound moment, Izuku Midoriya was exposed to a rapid, rubatosis of exhilaration

For the first time in an eternity, Midoriya Izuku cried.

........................….

First came his taste, but there was nothing to taste

Then entered smell, there wasn't much to smell

And thus, approached touch, a feeling of softness as if he lay on a bed, covered by a thick blanket. In stark contrast to the moments prior to his death, lying on the harsh ground warmed by the flames, molten to the touch.

Then he was wrapped in the heavy, crushing, overbearing, overwhelming, immense, stupendous, staggering, bone-crushing, unescapable, debris that had trapped him so.

Now, flaunted in hearing, all he could hear was the rippling, rustle of a blanket as if someone was shifting in it. 'That can't be right'.

Subsequently, blinking rapidly, his sight was restored. And oh he wished it wasn't. The resulting blinding, radiant, luminous, illuminating, gleaming, glittering, glistering, fluorescent, effulgent light. Was more than enough to force him to close his eyes.

Ensue more blinking, trying to adapt to the sudden light after an eternity [InStAnCe] in darkness. Fully opening his eyes Michael Carter took in the room he was in. A dull, bland, nigh empty space was made aware to him.

"The fuck? This isn't a hospital" the logical conclusion one would make. Looking at his hands he was faced with another bewildering, conundrum. "These aren't my hands", his once black hands were now of a pale tawny beige.

"Reincarnation?" it wasn't a foreign concept, he had personally devoured many web novels, self-inserts, and fanfiction that had the concepts of reincarnation and transmigration.

"Never once in a thousand years, would I ever believe this would happen to me, though I guess I have fantasied over it", Isekai a genre of Japanese fiction, explored the transportation of someone between worlds.

"What a shit way to die huh?", he should be happy he really should, he should feel lucky, it was not the end.

Then why? why did he feel such a sense of despondency? Why was his face wet? Oh, those must be his tears. Man up you should be grateful, You… "You get to live!"

In his inconsolable, wretched state of mind, he had found himself kneeling on the ground his head lifted to the ceiling. The piteous wail of a boy who had experienced a traumatic event.

"Mom, Dad, my siblings, my friends, how are they now? Are they crying for me? I don't want them to feel sad, Will I ever see them again?" oh such a saddening sight, his emotions in disarray, in turmoil.

Pandemonium is a word that is perfectly encapsulating the boy's mindscape.

Chaos, Unrestrained unorder, caused by overwhelming grief

"I.I… my heart *cough*", As if his feeble heart would burst, like a dam, too incompetent to stop the onslaught of forlornness.

"No! I shouldn't be thinking Like this! I saved all those people; those children are alive cause of me!" Yes, that's right. So why did he feel regret?

"I'm a hero", he was, wasn't he? He had embodied what it truly meant, self-sacrifice with no regard for the benefits that may come from saving them.

'But isn't the fact that I tried to be one, what brought me here, gave me pain, left me to suffer, took me away from my family'. Two opposing viewpoints both with merit.

"I don't want to feel that kind of pain again", his tears stopped

"I'm sorry mom, dad, the life you have given me, the effort you used to raise me, I'm sorry your little boy is gone" The boy stood up, walking out of the barren room he headed to where he presumed the bathroom would be.

"If being a hero means, I will be forced to feel such pain, I won't ever sacrifice my life like that, I won't ever throw myself in danger for the sake of others. I never want to feel that pain again".

And that ideology brought about a change in the boy, the overwhelming sadness died down, and he regained control over his thoughts. A boy who died a hero, had rejected his naïve self.

Entering the bathroom, he turned and was met with the reflection of something so implausible.

The Image of Monkey D Luffy stared back at him.

A sharp, throbbing, aching, agonizing headache overtook and overloaded his head 'at least it's not as painful as when I died'

Falling to the ground, a memory not of his, but of the previous owner of this body had found its way to his mind

If you could ask him what his last thoughts were it would probably be

'The world of my hero academia? Damn what mess have I landed myself in'

Fade away, his consciousness left

Fade away, he saw nothing but darkness

Fade away, all sounds became null

Fade away, nothing could be felt

Fade away, he smelled no more

Fade away, taste lost all meaning

Fade away
