Chapter 41: Chapter 41: All About Distance:

The blizzard engulfing the mountain range starts to wildly swirl around Mute and the cursed spirit as their weapons clash causing shockwaves. The spirits razor sharp blade slices through the web of string narrowly missing Mute as it slices into the snowy ground. The spirit twists his wrist and pulls his sword up, slashing at Mute's neck. Mute stares at the incoming blade as it narrowly misses his neck.

A confused look appears on the spirit's face as he throws a barrage of slashes towards Mute. No matter how wide or fast the spirit made his slashes, they always were just out of range.

An annoyed look appeared on the spirit's face as he stepped his left foot forward shooting out a massive wave of ice. The abrupt attack surprises Mute as he leaps up into the air jumping above the ice. He stares down at the ice before a figure flies above him. Mute spins while crossing his arms. The spirit floats above Mute before slamming an axe kick into Mute's guard sending him crashing into the ice below.

Mute rolls back onto his feet with his arms bruised. Mute's technique isn't like infinity. He must see the attack coming to stop it, meaning that if an opponent can surprise him. The attack will land. Mute looks up into the air and sees the cursed spirit floating in the air with a grin on his creepy face. Mute scoffs extending his right arm out.

Mute's technique doesn't make him nearly unkillable like Gojo's infinity. However, the technique has an advantage that Gojo's infinity doesn't have. The spirit stares down at Mute cockily until his eyes start to see the air around him warp and in a split second, the cursed spirit's neck is tightly gripped onto by Mute's palm.

Mute's ability to shrink and enlarge the distance between him and the opponent makes it impossible to escape him. Mute violently slams the cursed spirit into the ground making a pile of snow fly up into the air.

The pile of snow flies into the air before stopping, floating into the motionless. The snow starts swirling until it forms into a snow halo. The snow halo flies towards Mute who stares at it approaching. Mute leans his head back effortlessly dodging the halo that approaches a birch tree before effortlessly slicing it in two.

Mute stares at the sliced tree before the cursed spirit appears behind him throwing a spinning kick. Mute tracks the kick with his eyes before changing the distance between him and the spirit's leg making the kick narrowly miss.

The spirit spins and watches Mute load back his fist preparing to throw a powerful punch. Hundreds of calculations and predictions run through the spirit's head trying to figure out how to dodge the punch. The spirit starts to lean left until he feels his feet slide across the snow and before the spirit could react a punch slammed into his face, rocking his head back.

Mute's attacks were nearly impossible to dodge. He would shrink the distance between the opponent and his attack. Mute throws a barrage of punches into the cursed spirit's body and face before throwing a gut punch that launches the cursed spirit through the air. Mute stares at the cursed spirit flying through the air as sweat rolls down his face.

The only problem with this is that it takes far too much cursed energy and concentration to use constantly, meaning that Mute will only use it occasionally.

The cursed spirit flips in the air landing on his feet as he drags his hand through the deep snow. Five snow halos appear above the cursed spirit body before they fly towards Mute. In a swift motion, Mute waves his hand in front of him sending a massive web of strings towards the halos. The strings approached the halos before they were effortlessly cut. Mute smacked his lips annoyed before he took a step forward. Appearing directly in front of the cursed spirit surprising him, Mute threw a spinning kick towards the spirit until suddenly an ice beam formed next to the spirit blocking the kick.

Mute's powerful kick slightly cracked the ice beam. Mute seeing this shuffled his feet throwing a backward kick that crashed through the ice beam and slammed into the cursed spirit's chest sending his feet sliding back.

While sliding back, the spirit pulled his right hand back as the halos behind Mute spun around and started to fly toward him.

Mute turned around stopping the halos, making them freeze in the air. Mute stares at the halos before ducking under an ice blade. The blade slices Mute's hair as he throws a knee that slams into the spirit's mouth. Mute is about to throw another kick until the spirit lets go of his sword and slams his palms together.

A massive pillar of ice shoots out towards Mute catching him off guard. The pillar slams into Mute's chest sending him crashing through several trees. The pillar is 50 feet long and 25 feet wide. Mute rolls onto his feet and watches as the spirit skates across the ice pillar before waving his hand in front of him, shooting a barrage of ice sickles at Mute as the spirit yells out.

" Enough games, it's about time I got serious. "...
