Chapter 1: The Divide
On this night when the hero and his party were meant to fight the Demon King to save the world something unexpected happened. Just as the hero's party was about to enter Demon Kings throne room a helpless demon maid was trying to escape with her daughter before the fighting could start but were spotted by the hero and his group who on instinct attacked them, all but the Saintess.
While the rest were ready to fight and were on edge she was calm as she knew she needed a clear mind so she could heal her friends the moment they needed it and cast Devine Protection if necessary. So when she noticed that it was just a mother and daughter she cast her Devine Protection to keep them safe. Unfortunately she cast it a second to late as one attack got through and hurt the little girl, the Saintess immediately started to run over so she could heal the girl to make sure she wouldn't die.
Just as she arrived at the girls side she heard the hero's voice shouting to her, " Celeste what are you doing they are demons, why are you helping them?" , he asked. The Saintess Celeste turned to him and asked, " What do you mean why? They are not fighters and only wish to get to safety so our fight is not with them Roland." , The Hero Roland and the others looked at her shocked as he said, " We must eliminate all the demons to insure humanities safety, do not help that girl or we will be forced to subdue you."
Celeste was shocked, she was a kind woman who very much dislikes violence and had never hurt anyone, the only reason she agreed to help the the Hero and his party was because she thought they wanted only to stop the needless death caused by the war. Now near the end of their journey did she see that taking the Demon Kings life would not stop the violence but open up a path of endless persecution against the demons where they will suffer at the hands of humans.
At this realization Celeste made her choice, she turned to the child and said, "Human or Demon I can not let an innocent child die." she stuck her right hand up and cast her Devine Healing spell on the child and immediately after casting it turned to look at Roland and the others only to see them already starting to launch their attacks at her. Immediately seeing this she raised her left hand and casted her Devine Protection to stop the attacks.
While this was going on none of them realized that from behind the doors of his throne room that the Demon King was watching it all with the help of a survalince spell. While looking at what was happening the Demon King began to feel something he never felt before but despite it being new he still knew what it was he felt and he knew what he needed to do.
