"Heh. That was cold, coming from you," Brett remarked with a cynical smile upon his lips.

"You seem to have forgotten that you tricked me into sealing a mating bond with you."

Brett's words tugged at Zane's conscience, but he could not afford to give in.

"Yes," he confirmed while curling his fingers into fists behind his back. "I did trick you into having sex with me and establishing a mating bond between us. And that is why I want you to consider crossing over to our side."

Zane bit into his lips in anxiety.

This would have been easier if Brett somehow regained his memories of the past, but it did not seem that way at all. Zane would be lying if he said that he was not disappointed. Alas, disappointment was not going to help their situation.

"I am the Alpha of my pack," Brett pointed out with a sharp glare. "Do you want me to abandon my pack?"

Zane shook his head.

"On the contrary, I am hoping that you can convince your pack to fight for our cause," Zane said.
