[There are those who are able to see the future of others and they are called diviners. No one knows why they are able to do that, and even the diviners don't have any idea.

The churches say it is a gift from the gods and try to rope the diviners into their religions. They have succeeded in doing so for a lot, but there are still some who choose to remain independent.

They are called the Wandering Diviners....Excerpt from: TRUTH AND FABLES]

-------------------

(Five Days Later)

It was a desolate environment. The ground was scorched black and devoid of any life. The only thing in sight was a pipe that emptied suspicious looking substances onto the ground.

Assistant crawled out of the pipe with a mutilated body that was missing an arm and had a disfigured face.

"I barely made it out of there in one piece."

He looked down at his arm.

"Well, maybe not in one piece. But still..."

He looked behind him into the distance.

"At least I'm no longer their dog."

He made his way out of the liquid and sat down. He shook his head to himself.

"How the mighty have fallen. I used to be a genius, one of the Twenty Icons of Freestone Academy and had all the resources I could want. Anything I asked for, the school would give me. Where did it all go wrong?"

He looked up at the sky, with a reminiscing expression and then laughed.

"Of course I know where it went wrong. It was all because I trusted the wrong person. But anyway, how did it even happen? I'm not stupid, how did I not notice her true intentions? I didn't survive for so long in that minefield of an academy just to crash out like that. I made sure to always cover my tracks and leave no evidence when I did my business. It wouldn't be possible for her to do it unless someone helped her out....."

All of a sudden, he sat up as if he remembered something important.

"How could I forget Liam? I was never sure about where his allegiances were. It could only be him."

He got up and dusted himself off.

"There's no point in thinking about the past now. All I know is that when I come back here, the entire school will regret making an enemy of me. No, that aspiration is too low. The entire world will know the name of Diarus!"

He started his journey into the distance, unsure of where it would take him.

[George's POV]

"My dinner last night was good as hell."

I was leaning against the wall, thinking about the gourmet meal I had last night.

"I might not like those guys, but they know how to get a good meal."

The fight club was today, and I had finally figured out my strategy for the fights.

I will be a turtle that has retracted into its shell. I will not move once I'm in the ring. I will be an unshakable rock while my opponent destroys me. That is why learning to take a beating was advantageous for me.

I know, my own strategy makes me laugh. But it's the only thing I can do. I am the weakest, after all.

But wait, what if Professor A is only lying to us and we're not that bad when compared to the other groups? I wouldn't put it past these guys to make us panic for no reason.

I shook my head to free them of confusing thoughts.

Why am I even doubting them? Either way, I'm still the weakest. My survival is not a certainty. I should be focusing on imprinting all the processes of life into my mind.

Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out.

That's right, I might not be breathing soon so I must make sure I make the most of the time I have left. Yes, that's the right thing for me to do. Thankfully, my assailants seem to be nervous about the fight club, so they're leaving me alone today.

That gives at least one day of rest. I will treasure it.

"What are you spacing out for?"

Huh? I turned to find Alex grinning at me with his stupid face.

"If you want to kill me, you'll have to do it soon since I'll be since I'll be dead soon."

"What's with that attitude? Have you already given up?"

"Yeah, yeah, I've given up. Now that you know that, you can go back to your side."

I expected a hit for that remark, so I closed my eyes and braced myself.

Huh, why is there no hit?

I looked up to see Alex still grinning at me.

Why is he doing that? Is there something funny?

"Stop playing with the poor boy, Alex."

Huh? I snarled and turned to see who was addressing the 'poor boy'.

Alistair was by the side with a blank expression.

"Do you think I'm a poor boy, Alistair?"

Alistair glanced at me.

"Of course I think that. What else are you? You've been manipulated and used by me many times. Even the shower incident was set up by me."

The shower incident? What does he mean?

The past flashed through my mind.

He was behind it? It makes sense. At the time, I was wondering about Alistair's intentions.

Alex laughed.

"That time was so interesting. You should have seen the look of relief on your face when Alistair arrived. And the way Alistair just took it all in stride and acted like the saviour was so compelling. Even I was starting to wonder if he was actually the one who made the proposal."

I started to get angry, then I realized something.

Why am I getting angry? I already knew that Alistair had already sold me out. There's no reason for me to get emotional.

I looked at both of them in their eyes. They didn't say anything but stared back at me.

"You guys should just leave me alone. Let me spend my time in peace."

Alistair turned around to leave. Alex also started to leave.

"Go ahead and do what you want."

I leaned back against the wall and got back to my thoughts.
