Chapter 2: Catherine, the competent surgeon
Chapter One
Surgeon Catherine was a very smart, hardworking, strict, honest and a competent surgeon, a competent one at that. She was well known for her good handling of scalpel (a small knife with a thin, sharp blade that is used in surgery). Do to this she was listed among the good surgeon doctor in New York City, but one good thing that spoil the dog tooth is that her Dad was a fraudster who also has a lot of debt from the bank to pay and also from some loan shark, surgeon Catherine is trying hard to pay her dad debt to the bank by slashing her monthly pay into two, meanwhile Catherine did not know her dad has been collecting other loan from some loan shark and keep running from one place to another. She has a younger brother called Mike. Mike lives with her sister and also has been trying to pay other loan of their dad which her sister did not know about because he his the only one the loan shark do contact whenever they couldn't get hold of their father, Mike has been using the tuition fee plus allowance whenever her sister gave him for college to settle some of the debt from some of the loan shark. There mother divorced their father because of the issues coming up everyday about loan shark, police arresting him for fraud and so on. In the hospital where Catherine work, they always commend her for a good work though she is very strict and never laugh no matter what but they did not understand what is going on with her and whenever her senior professor ask her about why she is always moody she just reply with all is well.
Catherine Mom who left their father to go and stay with her Aunt in the island always send any of her sick friend to her daughter in the hospital to get checked by her daughter but Catherine has been complaining to her Mom about it that she always got busy at work and she should not add to her piled work in the hospital but her Mom will just respond with i am sorry my daughter but never stop sending people to her and this makes Catherine not to always be on her mother side.
Catherine Mom started feeling indigestion and her Aunt has been telling her to go for check-up from her daughter in the hospital but the woman always pitied her daughter and say to her sister that it is fine.
One faithful day, do to nagging everyday from her Aunt that she should go and get treated by her competent daughter in the city, she packed some food for her daughter because it as been a while her precious daughter ate her food and travel down to the hospital where her daughter worked. On getting there she called her but Catherine was like Mom did you send someone here again? her Mom responded jokingly that yes my daughter and Catherine got angry and started shouting on phone to her Mom that how many times have I warned you and also make it clear to you last time that i don't want you to send anybody again and that should be the last one, I am already exhausted from piled work here in the hospital that I don't even have time for myself anymore, but why sending someone again after I made it clear last time and she immediately end the call before her Mom could say anything, meanwhile Catherine Mom is already looking at her daughter as she is passing through the passage but her pitiful mother left because she don't want to disturb her daughter anymore, so on her way going back home she feel weak and unable to walk,she was about to find somewhere and rest but she collapse on the road and people rushed to rescue her and she got transferred to a nearby hospital, Catherine phone rang and when she picked the voice she heard was Hello, are you miss Catherine and she replied yes, the voice replied that your Mom collapse and brought to our hospital please could you rush down here so that we can take her guidance consent before proceeding with a surgery because she has a chonic cancer which require immediate surgery due to her condition, Catherine quickly dropped her phone and rushed down there but on getting there she saw doctors trying to minimize her breath but unfortunately they all couldn't do anything to it because she is already dead. Catherine cries for days and start drinking, she was so sad because she thought everything is her fault and her Mom came to diagnose and get treated from her daughter but she Chase her away and let her die.
The death of Surgeon Catherine mother was a shock to her and that make her leave the city and move to the Island where are Mom and Aunt lives, she got admitted to a small hospital there where she meet her first love called John, john is a medical physician who came from a rich family and there was another man at his 30s aswell called Raymond which also came from a rich family. both of them love and want surgeon Catherine. As we know surgeon Catherine is a strict woman with passion for her job, she really don't have time for love because of job but also because of the problem she's been facing in her family right from childhood till she became adult. John and Mike whom came from different rich families were transferred from military medical services to the Island, many surgeries were taking care of by surgeon Catherine on the Island and this made them to like her more in the hospital and treat her as one important doctor among others, John tried to show surgeon Catherine his interest in her but she always look away and this made him to seek for elders opinion, she went home to meet his grandma to discuss the issue with her and her grandma advice him to continue showing her love but to also respect her and her job and not to force it. Raymond on the other side has been trying too but doing his on in a tough way, an emergency came up which made the senior professor of the hospital to call for surgeon Catherine and physician John to quickly go and check the situation there, it was some hikers that fell from the hill and some got a terrible wound, surgeon Catherine and John treated the minor once and transfer others to the hospital, Surgeon Catherine and John performed surgery on them together which make them to always be together diagnosing and treating the patients. Surgeon Catherine also started having feelings for John but never shows it.
