Chapter 8: Family Reunion
"Did...mom and dad... know?" They were confused for a moment, Xalier asked.
"What... what, my son?"
"Did you two know I'm dying?" Then came the realization from both of them.
"Son, how did you...? Its…" Seeing their shocked faces, Temorsth understood.
'They thought I didn't know I was sick so they tried to hide it...'
'I had learned that my parents are not low-ranking beings, but to think they could easily see through my body and see its flaws... they are almost like you, Seeker...'
'... They are not even close... it's most likely only because we are weak, and they are strong, that they could see something with some kind of magic. ...' The voice, the voice was neither emotional nor emotionless it was the depiction of in-between.
'Anyway, did they really go to that Shadow Highlands for me...? It is a place that is known to kill demigods, I don't know their power yet but still, it sounds pretty cool.' The very thought made Temorsth laugh a little, seeing this his parents showed some nervousness.
"So that's what you wanted to tell or hide, right? Then it's my turn." Temorsth spoke in a different tone, he sounded older it wasn't immature at all.
His face changed a little but even that was noticed by them, he didn't pretend to be happy with his family, and his childish instincts were there, but now he used the tone of an adult rather than a child.
'It is uncomfortable...' He wanted to do this much later since he didn't want to distort the first experience of a new family with their child, so he behaved more like a child or rather showed the persona of one.
"Hm?" When they heard his voice change, they were stunned but their face didn't show much of it. This gave Temorsth time to reveal the truth, he didn't want to lie to them anyway he just didn't tell the truth until now.
"I gained the ability to reincarnate some time before what father did, I'm sorry I didn't tell before I didn't want to ruin my new family life."
"Oh!?" They were shocked for a few seconds but did not seem frightened as they turned to each other and nodded.
It was just like an old talk they had before Temorsth was born, Elah gave birth to him and he grew up with them, they lived together, and even if he had memories of a past life, Temorsth was still their child.
But even with that, they were curious about what his life was like before this one. "Who were you my son, were you famous? How did you die?" Xalier was more open to banter, "Ouch..." and so Elah hit him in the back of the head.
"Please behave yourself, he is our child, how can you ask him how he died, and anyway how can you ask someone about their death so casually?" Seeing that both of them were trying to lighten the mood, he was relieved again, he had already learned many times that he really was born into a beautiful family.
"Please, mother, it's nothing. I've already forgotten a lot from my old world, but I still vividly remember my death, that is my death after all... After a fight, I fought one against five, and no, before you asked, I didn't lose, I won." Hearing pride, they slightly praised him.
"That's my son! What Rank were they? "
"You are great my little...son..." Heard his mother stop and change her words he got worried and spoke up.
"Mom, please call me like you used to. You both said I was your child, I'm only a little older than five, and physically nothing has changed, you're still my mother."
"There are parents, who call their child baby for all of their life, but... just for me, mom please..."
"Oh...my..." Elah was reassured by the return of her child's childish tone, hearing that he was still considering her his mother, she teared up a little, she was sure she wouldn't treat him any differently, but she was afraid he wouldn't accept it.
"This... I didn't mean to say..." Seeing his mother's tears he lost his voice.
"No-no...I...I'm just happy!" She got up from the couch and went over to him, hugging her only child Elah felt she was the happiest woman in the whole of Ananterra.
After a few seconds, they both sit down on the couch, all three sitting next to each other as Temortsh talked about what he remembered from his old world.
"Ah yes, I was 21 and it looks like I died from exhaustion..." They both listened attentively, but when Elah heard this, she stood up.
"NO, baby you passed so young only 21 years old, and even more from exhaustion...!? You were just a boy and to die like that... how can they attack a child? They are all mindless beasts, if mom was there they would learn not to mess with children."
"Um, mom..." He realized that her mother misunderstood something, 'Ah, right she is an elf...'
"Mom, I was a human." He thought that this would clear things up, but...
"No, even if you were human, you were still a child." Elah looked down at her son, and seeing that he didn't understand, she continued.
"Your father and I are both over a thousand. I'm one thousand and twenty-five and he's one thousand and twenty-six, and we're still young adults, even if you're a hundred years old, you'd still be a child."
"Even if you were a human in the mortal or mortal body realm, you would still live more than two hundred years, of course, we are angry!" This time Xalier called out too.
They talked about this world, and they taught him, and he told them about his old world, it was a nice family conversation after a long time.
"I was born into a world with no or very little mana and magic...' He thought while he tried to explain his upbringing and world 'This family didn't change, my beautiful family will never change...'
Those were the real thoughts of someone who was really happy but Temorsth would regret those phrases very soon…

"Ah... it's already dark and it looks like it's started raining." Seeing that time had passed Xalier called out as he remembered something, he almost forgot.
"Son, you should drink it before bed, it will knock you out for a few hours or days anyway."
"Yes, I will, but will this thing help?" Hearing this, their faces darkened slightly, and this time Elah answered.
"There was a kind old man on the mountain, he was the protector of that place, he was probably the Immortal Emperor they talked about." Xalier continued after her.
"Since he wouldn't let us take water from the lake, we tried to fight him, but after a few blows we lost miserably without any real chance to fight back, but when we went back to the mountain he gifted us a flask of water from the lake while saying the words that it won't solve our problem..."
Elah interrupted with puffed-up cheeks showing her annoyance.
"But he said it can help a little... hm now that I think about it, he probably noticed it EVEN AFTER we showed that we were enemies because of a certain someone..." Elah looked at her husband with squinted eyes.
"I'm sorry I thought he'd hit you harder, I didn't think he'd hold back, but he probably won't tell anyone anyway..." With the words, Xalier thought back to the time when he saw an old man in a full white robe sending Elah flying through a mountain.
"But... he asked one thing in return..."
"Huh? What did he ask for?"
"..." They looked at each other with heavy expressions.
"You, my son..."
"Uh?"
"He said he wants to meet you if we succeed in finding a cure..."
"We are strong, but it is not an exaggeration to say that we were almost like flies to him, so we couldn't decline this chance... he is probably a Realm and a few Stages above us." Hering their story Temorsth began to giggle it looked like he didn't hear what they said.
"What is so funny?"
"No... nothing... just... my parents really are like Romeo and Juliet." He wiped away tears after each word, he again thought that he was reincarnated in a romance novel.
"Who?"
"Ah... it's just a story from my old world about lovers who came from opposing families...ah right!" He remembered something he had forgotten.
"By the way, I wanted to tell you one more thing, I have a system, I don't know if you know what it is, but I have one."
"Ohh!?" They didn't seem shocked, rather they seemed expectant.
They didn't want to say it until now because he hadn't asked them about it, they thought it would discourage him if he didn't have a system.
"We know what it is. This isn't unique to The Realms, any being above a demigod can give you a system, it's like they give you a part of them to help you grow."
"And... Wait, what is the name?!" Remembering something Xalier asked as some worry appeared on both of their faces.
"Uhm... The will of the worlds."
*Sigh...* "Thank the progenitors..." Hearing this, they sighed in relief, after which Xalier continued his explanation.
"The will of the world is the most widespread system that any gifted and or strong existence can acquire by accepting 'her' gift."
"Ohh... this is disappointing, I thought I was special..."
"Hm? but wait... Dad, you said it wrong, not world, worlds."
"And it... What?" Xalier wanted to continue but stopped mid-sentence he swallowed his saliva before he asked.
"What is its name again?"
"The will of the worlds." Their eyes opened and their pupils dilated.
"Worlds...not world? Are you sure son?" Temorsth didn't understand their shock so he just nodded.
*Ahahaha* This time Xalier started to laugh out loud, it was strange for Temorsth to see his father like this.
"What's weird, is there a problem?"
"No... it's okay, it's the opposite it's great, really great!" Xalier turned to Elah, and as she saw his eyes full of love and hope, she understood.
"I know. It won't end with our love...there's still hope." He touched her cheek and gave her a loving kiss.
As Tem felt that the room was heating up from his parents' love, he got up quickly, picked up the flask of water from the table, and went to his room.
"I love you, good night!" The door closed behind him.
