Chapter 2: I Bring The Flame II

(Uriel Ulrich)

The blue radiant sky blessed the world with the presence of the shining sun and within the span of few minutes, I arose from the bed and visited the bathroom to have a nice bath. I couldn't deny the fact that I was a being that favored elegance. After minutes had passed, I exited the bathroom and clothed my body with the red tuxedo. I hesitated not to pick up my phone to contact Veronica for I had a pressing issue to attend to and I needed her help.

I tapped the dial button and few seconds passed not before she responded. `Who's this?' I hesitated not to give a quick reply. `This is the man you encountered, last night. I need your help as of right now.' She chuckled in response and replied after few seconds had passed. `Could the matter not await nightfall? Because we are both aware of my inability to walk Earth whenever the sun's out.' Her statement earned her a chuckle escaping me. `Send your address so I could come and perhaps I might decide to give a sunlight ring to you.'

I hung up and awaited her message. Few minutes after waiting, a message visited my phone. She was residing within a house that was contained within a street far away from the hotel and the journey to the house lasted for two hours even at the top speed of my Rolls Royce. Perhaps, I could have made use of my supernatural agility to skip such a long journey but I wasn't the type to make use of my abilities at every single second. The house was a small but beautiful one, I already knew she had a great taste in beauty.

I alighted from my car and moved closer towards the door that separated the interior part of the house from the outside world. I messaged her that I was already outside her house and the door was pushed open after few seconds. She was on a night gown which accentuated her curvy figure and I couldn't take my eyes off her for some seconds. I walked past the door and gained entry into her house, I knew it was a test to further learn more about my origin. If I was a vampire, I wouldn't have had the ability to enter unless I was invited by her, the house's owner. With such discovery, she already knew I was no vampire.

She closed the door just as I entered and sat her butt upon a sofa. I remained standing and tilted my head around to take into sight the beauty of the sitting room. All curtains were put down so the sunlight had no chance of invading the house. `What brings you to my home?' She questioned me as she folded her arms. I said nothing but dipped my right hand into a pocket to bring out a ring, the sunlight ring, it was more like a normal ring but looked ancient. I walked towards her and grabbed her right arm before inserting a finger of hers into it. `You've earned yourself a sunlight ring, Veronica.'

The look of disbelief was plastered on her flawless face as she gazed at the ring. I walked towards the windows to push them open and also put up the curtains so the sunlight could stream in. She winced and brought up her arms to defend her face but nothing happened. She didn't erupt into ashes nor did she feel any pain. After realizing that, she laughed and hopped around. After few seconds of celebrating her victory over the sun, she broke out into tears. I had no choice but to embrace her to comfort her, I was no vile person but my wolf was. I and my wolf had a different personality so I knew what to do during such situations.

My inner beast was disgusted just as I embraced another lady that was not my mate. `Uriel, what's this? Would you stoop so low to embrace a creature I so much loathe. If the full moon arises, you know I'll take control so you should know that I'll rip her into pieces should I see her.' I ignored Ulnar and motioned for her to sit. `So, how did you manage to become a vampire?' She held back her tears and replied but her gaze upon me was softer than last night. `I was made a vampire about three years ago, against my will. My previous lover did that, I really couldn't blame him for his intention was for us to live on forever and never stop loving one another.'

`Where's he?' She couldn't hold back her tears any longer and so did they fall from her eyeballs. `He got into a nasty fight with some of Amenadiel's vampires, Red Ravens. After being turned, I had no choice but to attend the meetings Amenadiel's trusted aides created, it was a compulsory thing to attend them. During one of the meetings, one of the red ravens took a liking to me and tried having sex with me. My lover went crazy and saved me from the brutal vampire but at the cost of his life. I sighted my lover turn to ashes but I could do nothing to save him so I absconded and as of right now, I still remain hunted by the red ravens.'

I shook my head in disapproval, those monsters would always remain untamed. `Last night, would you have killed me if I was a human?' I questioned her for I needed to know how well she had her urges in control. `I would have taken minimum amount of blood from you and then compel you to forget the moment we had together. Would you believe if I told you I haven't killed a human?' I doubted her but I questioned Ulnar so as to ascertain that. That was a special ability of wolves, they could sense people's emotions to some degree.

`She isn't lying, don't bother me. Even, if she hasn't killed a human, that doesn't stop me from killing her should I have the chance.' I smiled in response and sent him a message, telepathically. `Shut up, Ulnar. You wouldn't have the chance to have control over my body during the full moon.' I sat my butt besides hers as I gazed at her eyes. `You aren't lying. As long as I live, no person would harm you. Not even a hair on your head would be harmed, I give you my word.' She nodded her head in approval for she already trusted me, due to my benevolent actions. `So, what are you? I know you aren't a vampire for you entered my house with no invitation. You also cannot be a witch nor a wolf for none is capable of possessing such supernatural speed. I can't sense your supernatural aura which means it's hidden and only powerful supernaturals can mask their scents. What are you? I'm curious to know about your origin.'
