Chapter 40: Jian...Yu?

Looking at Yang Su, Jian Yu couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over him. She looked so beautiful and innocent, it was hard to believe that she was actually a Fox demon. But despite that knowledge, he loved her just the same.

As Jian Yu holds Yang Su close, he felt the warmth of her body against his. Her soft fur brushing against his skin sends shivers down the spine. Jian Yu looks into her eyes, filled with love and devotion for her. She smiles back at him, her canines barely visible as she nuzzles into his neck.

"Su Su, I only have half a month to live."

Her eyes widened in shock, but she quickly regain her composure.

"I understand, husband," she murmured, running her fingers through his hair. "We'll make the most of it."

Jian Yu smiles, feeling grateful for her understanding. He knows that their time together is short, but he's determined to make every moment count.

Jian Yu looks at Su Su and says, "Let's go on a journey then. I want to see the world with you before my time runs out." He holds her hand tightly, feeling the warmth of her touch spread through his entire body.

Su Su nods eagerly, a playful grin on her face.

"Where do you want to go, husband?" she asks, her tail swaying behind her playfully.

"I don't know," Jian Yu says with a chuckle. "Anywhere and everywhere. Let's see where this journey takes us."

They begin to walk hand in hand through the bustling streets of Tianzhen sect, taking in the sights and sounds around them. Su Su changed back to Yang Su and Jian Yu feels a sense of freedom wash over him as he explores the world with Su Su by his side.

He then held her waist and flew to a mountain peak.

Jian Yu stops suddenly, pulling Yang Su to a halt beside him. "Look at that beautiful waterfall over there!" He points excitedly towards a majestic waterfall in the distance.

Yang Su's eyes widen in excitement. "Oh my! That looks beautiful, husband. Shall we go see it?"

Jian Yu nods eagerly, his heart racing with anticipation. "Yes, let's go!" He starts running towards the waterfall, pulling Yang Su along with him. The cool mist from the waterfall hits their faces as they approach, refreshing them from the heat of the day.

Jian Yu stops just short of the waterfall, taking in its majestic beauty. The water cascades down the rocks, creating a soothing sound that echoes through the forest. "This is incredible, Su Su," he murmurs, his voice filled with awe. Su Su stands beside him, her tail wagging excitedly.

He had seen everything here before, but with Su Su by his side: it made all the difference to him. Everything felt as if they were sparkling. It was like the years he lived were just nightmares and he had woken up the truth of the world.

He breathed in and remembers everything. His bottleneck starts to stir as he reminisce his past. His frustrations, the betrayals, and the joy.

BOOM!

"Husband?!" Su Su turns to Jian Yu and shouts with a surprised joy, "Enlightenment!"

His bottleneck broke through! Jian Yu felt as if his body was reborn. The black plague in his heart slowly dissipates from his spiritual Qi.

She holds a hand in front of her mouth and asks with a shaking voice, "Husband! Does this mean..."

Jian Yu turns to Su Su with a radiant smile on his face, "Yes, Su Su. I reached enlightenment. I can live for another 100 years. It still falls short of a demon, but now we can be together for a bit longer," Jian Yu joked. He embraces her tightly, feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude for her presence in his life.

Her tears welled up and fell on his clothes.

"Thank you, husband," she whispered, hugging him tightly. "I'm so happy we could be together for longer." Jian Yu brushed her tears away gently and nodded. "Let's make the most of it then," he replied, his voice filled with determination.

"COME BACK!"

Jian Yu fell to his knees with veins covering his head. His hand hurry to cover his ear.

Su Su looks in fear and shock. Confusion overtook her.

"Husband!?"

"COME BACK!!" The ominous voice resounded in his mind again, stronger than the last.

"GRAAAGH!!!" His Qi started burning and he flew to the skies.

"Husband!" She looked at where he heading. "That direction is-Tianzhen sect!?"

Su Su's eyes widened in fear and confusion. Her mind raced as she tried to understand what was happening. "Husband!" she shouted desperately, her voice echoing through the forest.

Jian Yu could sense her distress, but he was powerless to control his own actions.

The force pulling Jian Yu towards the Tianzhen Sect intensified as he flew through the air, his body being pushed to its limits. He could feel his Qi burning brighter than ever before, fueled by the enlightenment he had just achieved.

Everyone who saw the scene were shocked!

His body out of qi fell and tumbled in the mountain peak of Tianzhen sect. He laid there breathing heavily.

2 Figures slowly walked towards him.

"Huff, Huff. Even now you still won't let me go!? MASTER!!! Senior Brother!!!"Jian Yu looked up and saw his Master and Senior Brother standing over him. His Master, an old and wise man with a kind face, nodded gently. "We knew you would come back to us, Jian Yu. It seems your enlightenment has brought about some changes within you."

The elderly hand reached out to Jian Yu.

Meanwhile, Su Su had been searching for Jian Yu relentlessly. Her heart heavy with worry, she followed the trail of his spiritual energy to the Tianzhen Sect.

As she got closer, she felt like there was a invisible wall in front of her. No matter how much she attacked, it wouldn't break.

Suddenly, the wall disappeared, and Su Su rushed towards Jian Yu who had his back faced against her. His master weak on the ground as a sword was stuck in his heart. His Senior brother was also leaning on the mountain lifeless. "Husband!" she cried out, tears streaming down her face. She hugged his back tightly, afraid that he would disappear.

....

....

....

Hao Yu reread through his book. Dream of Exiled Fox was something that he wrote, but didn't think too much about.

"Well, when I made the book, it was supposed to go into a different route. Why did Jian Yu's fate change?"

He scratched his head. Jian Yu was meant to marry Yang Su and ultimately be betrayed by her. This would lead into him using all his life force in exchange for power in order to save the whole world. The fox queen would then be exiled and force to regret her decision.

"It should be a heroic end...Why did it end like that?"

....

....

....

Jian Yu pulled away and turned to face Su Su. He had a gentle smile. However when Su Su saw that smile, her intuition sensed-Danger!

She jumped back a few times to widen the gap.

Jian Yu extended his hand towards Su Su, inviting her to come closer. As she hesitated, he spoke softly, "Do not fear, Wife. I have returned to my senses," He smiled gently.

Murderous intent filled her and her disguise was released.

Jian Yu looked at Su Su in confusion, his face contorted with fear and shock. "Yang Su, what are you doing?!" he cried out.

"STOP PRETENDING! Who are you!?" Su Su screamed out.

Jian Yu pauses and smiles. However this time it was a ominous and hideous smile.

"I am the true master of the Tianzhen Sect, and you, my dear, are just a pawn in my plan. But to think that you were a demoness. Sigh~ Jian Yu oh Jian Yu, your master will help you kill this demoness." His eyes glowed with an unnatural light as he raised his hand towards her. A dark energy began to swirl around it, preparing to strike.

Su Su's heart sank as she saw the change in Jian Yu's eyes. She knew this was not the man she loved anymore. She quickly tried to think of a way to stop him.

As the darkness engulfed her, Su Su felt a searing pain throughout her body. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. All she could see was Jian Yu's twisted smile as he raised his hand once again. This time, she couldn't move. She was helpless against his power.

"HAHAHA, So this is you're true strength Jian Yu?!" He laughed manically.

Jian Yu's eyes flashed with malevolent intent as he channeled his dark energy into a powerful sword aimed at Su Su's heart. However, before his right hand could execute, his left hand grabbed onto his right hand.

"Y-You! You haven't been devoured yet?! What do you think you're doing!?"

The left hand inch by inch forced the right hand to aim the sword from Su Su's heart to Jian Yu.

"STOP IT! If you do this, we'll both perish you fool!!"

Seeing as Jian Yu didn't stop and instead tried even harder the master relented, "JIAN YU! We can share this body! You can have night, and I can have day! Are you listening to me!? JIAN YU!!"

However the left hand kept going further. The right bended so much that it starting cracking the bones and forming a straight angle pointing towards Jian Yu.

"NOOOO!!!!!"

The sword moved at the speed of light and burst through his heart and out to his back. Blood flew out dyed the grass blood red.

The sudden movement caught Su Su off guard, and she found herself staring into the eyes of a different person. This person had the same face as Jian Yu, but there was no trace of the evil aura that had engulfed him moments ago. In fact, there was something else in his eyes - a spark of hope and determination.

"I really...enjoyed the last moments of my life, Su Su."

His body slowly fell to the ground.

"No, No, NO!!!!" Su Su screamed out and rushed to his side. Even as she stumbled and fell that didn't matter.

She raised him slightly in her arms, but his eyes were already lifeless.

Jian Yu....Had died.
