Chapter 2: A Samurai's New Beginning (2)

The hand flew to Fumetsu's soul as it grabbed his crimson red soul to crush it. So he waited for his end to happen once again. The unexpected happened. Instead of destroying his soul, the golden light that brought him here appeared again as it destroyed the hand that almost crushed Fumetsu's soul.

"I knew this was your doing. You know that you can't do this against the rules of our existence! You will regret this because soon enough, you will suffer. Even if I can't hurt you, I will destroy that. " the dominating voice cursed.

The voice summoned down more powerful energy in the shape of a sword. The power was blue, the color as it shined brightly, but not as bright as the golden light.

"Fate shall decide that," a wise old voice spoke as the golden light threw Fumetsu's soul to let fate decide.

Throughout the eternal darkness, Fumetsu's soul is moving at an incredible speed flying throughout the infinite space. There was the dark shine of red that he emanated. Fumetsu's soul is being sent somewhere randomly by fate and destiny.

'What the hell was all that? I don't think this is what's supposed to happen after death! It can't be hell. My soul must have ended somewhere else unless that damn sage lied to me! Why, of all dead people or souls, whatever I am, why am I in such a predicament? I think at least I'm safe now.'

As Fumetsu thought he was finally safe, he felt a cold chill coming near him. He used the sense around his soul to see a pure shining white string flying near him at an impeccable speed. Unbeknown to Fumetsu, that string is a string of destiny that usually isn't able to be seen by no one.

'Damn, I jinxed myself. How dumb could I be? Maybe it's my old age still haunting me after death. I wish I could slap myself for being gullible. I shall finally have the peace I sought.'

The string of destiny hatched onto the soul. It started wrapping itself all around Fumetsu's soul, completely encompassing it as a spider does with its prey. The string became a blinding light as it disappeared into thin air, making no noise.

'Uhh, where am I?'

He felt something amiss as he could feel that he could move around but couldn't see anything. It was complete darkness, but it wasn't like total darkness. It was more as if he couldn't open his eyes.

'I have a body again, but why? According to the rumors, this might be the actual so-called reincarnation, but I shouldn't have any of my memories."

Fumetsu could feel that some kind of slimy liquid surrounded him. He tried to move his legs and feet to get a feel of what was going on, but the only thing he could feel was a soft wall when he kicked. Suddenly he felt a push on his new body as if he was getting forced out of the wall. Till he finally slid through the wall to move around more freely. While testing his new limbs, some hands grabbed him and placed him in a towel to dry him off.

'Did a giant pick me up, or I've been born as a baby. It must be the latter as it makes more sense. It also explains my limbs felt way smaller than what an adult compares to and that the wall felt more like skin. Wait, if I'm a newborn baby, that means shi-'

Before Fumetsu could finish his sentence, he felt a sharp pain in his butt because of a slap on his rum. The unexpected slap made him cry and open his eyes. His eyes aren't entirely open, but just enough for him to see, and no one can see his eyes. He saw a middle-aged nurse holding him with a big smile using his small eyes.

'This is the most embarrassing day of my life!''

"It is a boy, a big one at that. Congratulations, madam Lucy Nox, " the nurse stated.

"Thank you, nurse! Let me see my child," a woman stated.

The nurse then handed over Fumetsu to Lucy, his new mom. Lucy carefully grabbed Fumetsu out of the nurse's arms into hers, then slowly rocked him. Lucy is a woman with pale smooth skin, big blue eyes, and long silky dark brown hair to her waist.

Having been in Lucy's arms, Fumetsu finally got a good view of his surroundings. He was in a spacious room made of white limestone, with red curtains that hung high up in the room. Many luxurious furniture, tables, old antiques, and a bed even more prominent than the king-sized bed he was on. On the ceiling is a black crescent moon symbol representing the Nox family. This is the main room of the family.

"Tell my husband he can come in," Lucy told the nurse.

The nurse replied, "Understood."

The nurse started walking to the grand majestic door opposite the bed. Without even taking two steps, the door started opening slowly, and a man could be seen pushing the door open.

He is a tall man sitting at about 1.9 meters(6'2ft) in an all-purple outfit with the Nox symbol on the front of his outfit. His skin complexion was a dark tan color that complemented his small black eyes. Just like his eyes, he had black hair. It is rough as a lion's mane and reaches his waist.

"I can finally see my new son," said the man

"Your son? You mean our son. Correct yourself before I correct you, Eryx," Lucy replied in anger.

"Sorry, my love, will you forgive me this once, please," Eryx pleaded.

'Such a simp,' Fumetsu thought after hearing Eryx's words," wait a minute, I can understand what they're saying just like when I was spectating people ."

"Hmph, only this one time. We need to decide on a fitting name for our son," she shrugged.

Eryx closed the door, then started walking to his wife's and child's side. He looked at his new son and touched his head as he arrived next to the bed.

Eryx suggested, "Why not Emrys Nox? The meaning would be Immortal night as Emrys means immortal, and nox means night."

"I'm surprised you thought of a good name. I'm proud of you. Our son's name shall be Emrys. Now let's check for our family mark," Lucy stated.

'Emrys is a respected name for me. I shall accept it. It's not like I have a choice either.'

Changing the subject, Lucy unwrapped some of the blanket Emrys was in, checking his smooth body. She checked his back, chest, and arms, but she couldn't find the tiny crescent moon mark on him. In shock, she decided to unwrap him to check his lower parts thoroughly.

'This is so embarrassing! This is so unworthy of a great samurai-like me.'

After finishing her inspection, she turned him around and looked at her husband. The one who smiled was now frowning as she was beginning to cry.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Eryx inquired as sweat appeared on his forehead.

"I-it's not there. It can't be," she stuttered.

"What's not there? Tell me"

They are both in a panic. Eryx is confused about what's happening, and Lucy is in on what she couldn't find. Eryx was now right next to the bed his wife was lying on.

"This can't be. O-our f-family birthmark i-it's nowhere to be found on his body, and I know I checked all over his body." Lucy stuttered.

"Are you hundred percent sure that the birthmark isn't there?" Eryx asked.

"I'm a hundred percent sure. If you don't believe me, you can check yourself!"

"Hand him to me then. Because you must be missing something."

With Emrys in her hands, Lucy extends her arms out to give Emrys to his father.

'Damn, I'm going to get a probe again. This feels like a crime being touched and checked all. This is assault!'

The probing began as Eryx checked everywhere, including his legs, legs, back, head, feet, mouth, and belly. Still, he couldn't find a black crescent birthmark anywhere.

Eryx finished his search but couldn't find anything. He started turning red, sweat dripping down his face. His face is worried because he knows what he would have to do. Even if he is the family patriarch, he can't regard the original rules.

'Why is his face so red? What's the point of this so-called birthmark?'

Emrys is just a victim trying to understand why they had to search him for some dumb birthmark.

"M-maybe he's just a late awakener. There have been some cases like this in the history of our family. The longest time for it to appear was about five years, so let's just wait those couple years," Eryx suggested to Lucy.

"Phew, maybe he is just a late awakener like you said, so let's just be patient before we come to conclusions or have to act on the rules," Lucy claimed.

"But you know if it doesn't awaken, no matter if he's our son and carries our blood, we will have to wait even though he's a newborn. I don't want him to hear this."

Eryx puts Emrys back in his towel, so he doesn't go cold. After wrapping him up, he put his hand above his head as a green light started to condense.

'What will they do to me if I don't awaken this birthmark? Will they abandon me? I thought everything would be different. I'm so dumb. Different world, but the same type of people just like my old parents -'

Before he could finish his thoughts, he lost consciousness as he went to sleep because of the light Eryx condensed. Everything went black for Emrys.
