Chapter 25: Jealous

The sun peeked through the windows, gracing its presence in the spacious room with a woman snoozing blissfully in a comfortable position, giving a slight warmth to her body.

Katharina twisted her head, facing the pillow, avoiding the blazing sun that had her eyes itching to pop open. The scent of the pad was unfamiliar, yet she liked it. It had a fresh aroma and, mixed with sandalwood from the room, was like a great combination to her. She had the inkling that it helped her get a good sleep.

Her mind mainly was still in the gutter; hence she had not realized that she was not in her room. She snuggled her body to the bed cover, attempting to be like a cocoon. Her lips curved into a delighted smile as she managed to evade the scorching sun.

The bed shifted ever-so-slightly as another person sat down on it suddenly. Kathrina, who thought she was sleeping comfortably in her room then, said, "Not now, Jenna." Her tone was filled with displeasure at every word

"Time to wake up, sleepyhead."

The low and calm voice from the man alarmed Kathrina's mind, compelling her to open her eyes. She was still hiding under the cover, busy gathering her soul and trying to remember what had happened. But unfortunately, everything she had in mind was blurry.

Arthur pulled the blanket down, exposing Kathrina's face filled with shock and horror. The woman's jaw dropped, her eyes grew more extensive, and she blinked as she was unsure whether the situation she was in was real.

"What the fuck?!" She exclaimed loudly, completely oblivious to the fact that she had just spoken her mind.

"Good morning to you too." A grin escaped his mouth as he watched her finally understand her situation. The panic on her face was akin to that of a cat when its owners wanted to bathe them.

As her soul was already intact, Kathrina immediately pulled the blanket over her face again. She gripped it like it was her lifesaving rope.

The sound of Arthur's crips' laughter reverberated through the walls, pleasantly attacking her senses. His laugh was beautiful, just as beautiful as he was. But this was definitely not how Kathrina envisioned her morning to begin.

Her heart was palpitating so hard that she could hear it herself, and she believed Arthur would have heard it as well if he leaned closer to her.

Arthur touched her hand, loosening Kathrina's grip on the blanket. It took a bit of strength, but he did it. He took the blanket off of her entirely and tossed it on the ground without an ounce of hesitation.

"It's almost eight." He told her and offered her a glass of water, which Kathrina accepted without complaining.

She gulped the water down, then got out of the comfortable bed. "Thank you, but I have to go."

Before Kathrina even took a tiny step, Arthur's hand had already firmly grasped hers, making her freeze on the spot. She heaved a heavy breath before turning her head back at him, her face contorted in confusion.

"Wash your face before you go. You look like a mess."

Arthur said it with a nonchalant tone, but Kathrina felt a flood of embarrassment hit her body so strongly that she wanted to pass out.

"Your bathroom?" She enquired while avoiding looking directly into his eyes, afraid that he would be able to tell that she was nervous.

"On your left." Arthur pointed to the door to the bathroom. He noticed her nod before heading there without even sparing him another glance. He could only chuckle at her behavior. To be very honest, she was as good as yesterday. He only said those words to make her linger in his space a little longer.

While Arthur was busy with his thoughts about her, Kathrina muttered several expletives under her breath as she took in her appearance in the mirror. Her reflection showed a woman with messy hair and a pair of swollen eyes. One thing she rejoiced about was there was no trace of a lake near her mouth.

She splashed her face with the water. The sensation of each drop helped her regain her sanity one step at a time. She placed both on the sink while watching herself in the mirror, and then her eyes noticed the sticky note stuck to the left side of the mirror.

'You can use it. I prepared it for you.'

Her attention was riveted on a toothbrush and a facial wash. She struggled to make sense of how she should feel about what Arthur had done for her. They were neither a couple nor friends, but he behaved as though he was familiar with her.

She was not going to lie and said she hated it, but she didn't particularly like it either. So it was a complicated feeling. But, nevertheless, she still used it.

A soft knock on the door made her jump in shock, and she almost tripped and fell stupidly on the floor.

"Are you okay?"

"Hmm, just give me a minute."

Kathrina finished everything in haste, then opened the door and stepped outside. To her surprise, Arthur was still standing in front of the door. He was ready to start his day, looking like the great god with his fits, whilst she was like a mashed potato.

"Your phone keeps ringing." Arthur took her hand and handed over the phone to her. For a second, both were still as they felt a sizzling electricity flow through their body, sending a fluttering effect on their body.

Kathrina was the first one to break free from reverie as she pulled her hand back. She averted her gaze to her phone to see that it was Theo who had called her. It was unlike him to call her early in the morning.

"Hey, Theo."

Hearing a man's name that was not his, Arthur narrowed his eyes and glared at her He grabbed her hand once again as she started making her way toward the entrance—not letting the woman leave his territory. He saw Kathrina say what to him without sound, but he did not give her an answer. After all, he would not admit to her that he wanted to hear her conversation with the man named Theo.

Kathrina could sense it. The way Arthur's orbs pierced through her sent a shiver down her spine. She felt exposed under his eyes, as it seemed like he was trying to see through her.

"We are supposed to visit Marcella's manager today. Do you want to go together?"
