Chapter 39: A Chat to the Sect

"About that woman?"

"Yes, that woman. Although I know what you may truly want to meet my master for, I also know we had a common goal here. You want revenge on her right? Well I do as well."

When she said she knew why I actually wanted to meet her master my mind sank for a moment, but I didn't show it outwardly.

"Does that mean you already had a plan?!"

My eyes twinkled in anticipation.

"Well, I did, in fact those people you saw outside were part of it. But now that you're here, there might be a few changes."

I thought back to all those white robed people.

'So whenever she was expelled she began to prepare by creating this sect? What would she even do with this sect? She isn't planning to attack them is she?'

"So um, what will these new changes to the plan be?"

"Do you still remember the layout of the mountain range?"

"Hmm, yes I think so. Well I remember certain parts of it. Why?"

"That's good enough. Both you and I should join their sect as disciples!"

"What! You want to join them? Would they even accept us and even if they did, how would that help us in our revenge plan?! Don't you know your very distinctive look?!"

I spoke out at her crazy idea, immediately pointing at both the fluffy white ears and numerous similar tails which protruded from behind her.

"My looks? Don't worry about that, watch this!"

She looked at me with a smug smile before bringing her hand up to snap.

*Snap* *Ssssss*

Immediately the tails and ears she had were starting to shrink before completely disappearing. Her face started to change as well, slowly morphing around. Her body too was starting to change, her breasts started to shrink down into a size not nearly as enormous as it was once, her skin tone gained another shade or two of color instead of the paler skin she had moments ago. Her hair turned into another shade of white as well and her amethyst eyes started to change color as well into a cerulean.

When the transformation was finally over she gave another smug smile before placing her hands in front of her like some dignified noble woman.

My mouth became agape as I looked at her new appearance.

"Fufu! What's with that look? Do I remind you of someone?"

"Y-you! You can change your appearance at will?!"

"Perhaps."

"If you could do that then why didn't you just do it alone?! It doesn't even look like you need my help!"

"Don't be like that! Of course I need your help! I'll need you to distract that woman if she were to come and interfere. Of course I'll be taking another appearance when I enter the sect."

"What! Then aren't you just using me?!"

"Were you not trying to use me when we first met?"

"I um…" I shied away embarrassed.

"Don't worry about it, but don't you want revenge? That woman who killed you is surely more important than a man."

'She's trying to divert my attention. Perhaps, she still believes I might try and approach him. Of course if I get the chance I would, especially since I might be able to reveal to him the truth of that demon woman. But even if I wanted revenge, how would I be able to attain it with my current realm.'

"Don't worry about me! What are we going to do once in the sect? And how are we even going to get in?"

"The sect usually recruits once every year, but I've already set up a back door. It should be near a lake around one of the more deserted parts of the mountain range. I've hidden a few precautions in case that woman would do something drastic to me.

A few months after you and all of your sisters disappeared she started to target me, though the threat was almost nonexistent compared to what happened to all of you. At that point I realized what probably happened to you and I started to prepare. This was one of the many precautions

I took it in case she did something to me. If anything it should have been one of the more hidden caches.

As for what we'll do, we'll simply wander the sect until we find him."

"Wander the sect till we find him? Do you think it will be so easy?"

"Of course, well if his activities haven't changed since I last saw him all those years ago. He used to like to walk around the sect in disciple clothing just to make sure everything was going well.

No one even knew that he was the Sect Master either since the only people who actually see him on a regular basis were us, his disciples. Sometimes he would go to the sect meetings but they were usually pretty rare and at most he would see the Inner Sect Elders.

As long as we're walking around during the day we'll have a chance to find him. Strolling around, but you should know how big the sect is. That means we'll have to split up to look for him."

"Does she walk with him as well?"

"No, Oh and he usually doesn't use any of his abilities as a cultivator so it should be easy to tail him. Whenever you spot him I want you to tell me, I'll be giving you both a communications jade and talisman."

Communication Jades worked via inserting a constant flow of Qi to speak into them, receiving it doesn't require any, but they have to be in range. Ranges of the jades depend on both the material used to create it and inscriptions carved onto them. They could also be used indefinitely as long as the jade didn't break.

Communication Talismans on the other hand were single use items, but they didn't require Qi nor had to be in range to be in use. It did have a transmission speed though which was determined by both paper used and complexity of the script inscribed onto it. Low level ones usually required there to be a corresponding paper to which it would transmit to, but High level ones required you to know their Soul Signature to which you transmit to.

"He doesn't use his abilities? What about his hearing or Qi Sense?"

"No, none. But as a cultivator of such a high level he always has a 6th sense for danger and it's a strong sense as well, it's almost like if anyone around him even has a single thought to harm him he would know. Perhaps that's part of the reason he feels so comfortable walking around almost as a mortal man."

"Is that feeling only for himself? Or could it extend to the area around him like a large trap?"

"Hmm, I'm not quite sure, but I believe it should only extend to himself."

*Knock* *Knock*

The door behind me was knocked on before a feminine voice sounded out from behind it.

"Sect Master, We're arrived back to the Sect!"

"Thank you for notifying me, you may go."

"Thank you, Sect Master."

"Looks like it's time to get you ready, Yi Feng."

*Ssssss*

Rapidly her form changes and morphs back into what I know Li Daji should look like, at least I think that's what she looks like. At this point she could have been anything and I would have accepted it as her lying to everyone about her true appearance.

When I entered the top of the deck I realized that the sect they spoke of wasn't like many of the sects I usually think of. Instead of numerous trees and a mountainous view, what greeted me was a bustling city filled with numerous people. The sect wasn't in the middle of the city, instead more on the side of it and the size of the sect wasn't too small.

In terms of power rating it would probably be in the high parts of the low level sects. Considering the fact that she only had 8 years to develop such a sect it was extremely impressive.

"How many disciples do you have?"

A asked as I took a sightful gaze at my surroundings.

"I should have around 9 thousand, but our numbers are nearing 10 thousand. Come take a walk with me."

Following her she began to lead me throughout the sect. We passed by numerous training grounds within were women fighting each other with various weapons. The most common weapons weren't swords, spears, or for the fact any long weapon. Many of the women around held knives or other short weapons.

We passed by time and time again. At some point I was slowly becoming distraught at whether they would have any long weapons at all. The weapons I had seen so far included blades, hooks, and needles. I even saw a few trying to use hand fans as weapons just like Li Daji did.

Remembering a point I brought up.

"Li- Uh Sect Master, do you not care that I possessed someone close to you?"

"You had already done so after the fact of her death, correct?"

"I um, I think so, but I'm not really sure."

"Well… That's enough for me. If she had died already then so be it.You have a use for it and you didn't kill her yourself so I'll reluctantly accept it. It's too late to change anything anyway."

Finally we stopped in front of a building and with two guards on either side. Silently she unlocked and opened the door.

Walking in I saw a variety of weapons across various racks. But each weapon I saw only fueled my disappointment further bit by bit.

"Well I'll be waiting outside for you. Enjoy looking for a weapon."

Slowly the doors closed and she left me in this room alone. Silence prevailed until I took a step forward, at that point my footstep was echoing across the whole room. Surrounding me were several dozen tables and racks of weapons, none of which suited my tastes.

I skimmed through many of the sections which contained those short ranged weapons. Those which had swords and spears had a clear drop in quality compared to the rest.

After several minutes I was nearing the end with nothing to show. I was beginning to become anxious before I saw a weapon which caught my eye.

'Of course it had to be the very last weapon I found.'

There at the end was a table and a horizontal rack containing a single weapon.

It was a polearm which had a long and slightly curved blade at the end, a Scythe. The blade was double edged, one on the inner curve and outer curve. The pole itself was a dark, almost pitch black color.

As soon as I saw it, it was like the weapon was calling to me. The weapon was a High Quality - Earth grade treasure, a rank higher in quality compared to the others. As I came close I could feel an aura of death residing within the weapon, but it was extremely weak.

'Huh? Is it possible that this weapon can be improved? I can feel the unique aura within it, almost like it's calling me, telling me to pick it up.'

I stepped up and placed a hand on the handle. Immediately wisps of black start to seep out of the weapon before trailing up my arm. Startled by the procedure I tried to release, but it was like I had binded with it. Once the wisps reached my shoulder it paused for a moment before it started to seep into my skin.

I tried to forcefully take my hand off once more, but it didn't work. The whole process was close to painless and once complete I took a good look at my arm. It didn't look like anything had occurred in the first place.

'Did this weapon just bind with me? Could it possibly be a spiritual weapon?'

Picking it up I looked at it's pristine blade that was devoid of any engravings nor decoration. The pole had a few notches near the top and bottom, but besides that it was a clean and simple looking weapon, but simply holding it made me feel like I was some kind of bringer of death.
