Chapter 12: Brand Name Effect
Although Shen Xu and Zhen Yuan had already bought an alchemy furnace, they still went to the second floor after leaving the manager's room.
The second floor was different from the first floor.
Unlike the first floor where things were placed on shelves, items were encased in cabinets on the second floor.
Zhen Yuan could even feel restrictions on some of the items.
"Let's look around and see if there is anything you want." He said.
"What about you?"
"I don't need anything for the time being."
Shen Xu looked at Zhen Yuan but didn't say anything.
He walked to the left and stopped in front of a cabinet.
The cabinet was two metres tall, one metre wide, and was divided into six rows.
Each row had several jade slips, and Shen Xu couldn't help but be curious.
Without hesitation, he took one of the jade slips and injected a strand of soul power into it.
Soon after, a voice resounded in his mind, and his eyes flew wide open.
"An introduction to weapon refining." He muttered and looked at the jade slip.
Unfortunately, without buying the jade slip, he could only know the book's title but not its contents.
"Each row contains an introduction to one of the six arts." Zhen Yuan informed.
"Six arts…" Shen Xu muttered and then remembered what he knew from the novel.
In the Canglan continent, cultivators were categorised through six masteries.
The masteries were martial arts, alchemy, weapon refining, formations, talismans, and inscriptions.
Of all cultivators in the Canglan continent, ninety per cent were martial artists. About five per cent were weapon refiners, three per cent were talisman masters, one per cent were formation masters, and the remaining were alchemists and inscription masters.
Based on the six arts, the Divine Rainbow academy was divided into six schools.
The martial arts school had the most people, but the school of alchemy was the most prominent.
This was because all cultivators needed pills.
Without pills, cultivation was slow since the heaven and earth aura in the Canglan continent was very weak.
"I want to buy these introductions." Shen Xu said urgently.
As a newcomer to the Canglan continent, his foundation was very lacking.
Except for alchemy, the original owner didn't know much about the other arts which made the current Shen Xu ignorant.

"Which one do you want?" Zhen Yuan asked.

He knew that Shen Xu was still new to the world and didn't have a lot of opinions on many things.
"Let's take this one." Zhen Yuan said and pointed at one of the flints.
Although the fist-sized stone didn't look different from the other flints, it had more fire laws.
This hinted that it had more fire energy and could last longer than the other flints on the cabinet.
More importantly, the fire it produced would be more stable than the other flints.
Since Shen Xu was a beginner, he would benefit more from having a stable flame than having the hottest one.
"It's decided then." Shen Xu said and took the flint.
At the same time, Zhen Yuan paid for the flint, and they soon moved on to another area of the second floor.
"After leaving the Myriad Treasures Pavilion, let's find an herb store." Shen Xu said.
"Good." Zhen Yuan agreed and made a list in his mind.

Without hesitation, Shen Xu walked to an attendant and asked about the robe.
"The young master has a refined taste." The female attendant flattered, and Shen Xu smiled.
"This robe is made from the web of a fire silk spider. It can resist fire and poison. Most importantly, it can withstand the full-strength attack of a twelfth-level qi refining realm cultivator." The attendant continued.
However, Shen Xu didn't care about the utility of the robe.
What he cared about were its colour and style.
After wearing Zhen Yuan's grey robe, Shen Xu was eager to have clothes that suited his preference.
"How much does it cost?" He asked.
"It needs fifty thousand spirit stones." The attendant said, and Shen Xu frowned a little.
He and Zhen Yuan didn't lack fifty thousand spirit stones.
However, fifty thousand spirit stones was a lot for a place like Blue Spring town.
For a moment, Shen Xu didn't know if the attendant was trying to trick his spirit stones, but that thought was quickly discarded.
From the book, he knew that the Myriad Treasures Pavilion was reputable.
It never sold fake goods, and all the attendants were specially trained. As such, the likelihood that the attendant was trying to trick his spirit stones was very low.
"Why is it so expensive?" He asked.
"The young master doesn't know, but this robe was refined by a famous master. Its price is naturally a little higher."
'Brand name effect.' Shen Xu thought and shook his head.
He didn't expect brand names to be a thing in this new cultivation world.

However, Shen Xu was faster.
He took the robe, held it in his arms, and glared at the young woman.
This was the robe Zhen Yuan bought for him. How could he be willing to give it to another person?
Shen Xu had never been the kind to suffer in silence, and this time was no different.
He was about to scold the woman when two people walked up the stairs and entered the second floor.
When Shen Xu saw them, the qi in his meridians stagnated, and his heart turned cold.
