Chapter 2: 2 | Bear Island
As I came back to consciousness I looked around myself first, with one look I was sure that I'm inside some lord's castle. As they are the only ones who have these warm clothes and wool sheets, from what I know.
As I was observing the room I was in, someone opened the door and came in and looked at me and said "You're awake, that's good."
Then dragging a chair from the side that person sat down in front of me, then looking at me he said "Edward Snow. That's your name right?"
I nodded at him as I don't know what's happening right now.
Seeing me like that he said "Don't worry, I won't harm you."
I just looked at him for a second, as his face was very much familiar to me. But I don't know who he is so I asked him "Who are you? And who saved me?"
Smiling at the question he said "My name is Jeor Mormont. And the one who saved you is my sister Maege Mormont. She saw you drowning near the sea when she was on an inspection around the island with her first born."
Hearing that my eyes went wide and I said to him "Thank you for saving me Lord Mormont."
When I said that he smiled at me and said "You're welcome, but you should be thanking my sister instead of me." Then with a serious demeanour he asked me "Now, how were you drowning near the shores of Bear Island?"
"Storm....?"
"I understood that from the planks that were near you when you were saved." He told me.
Then understanding that he need to know more in depth, I said what I knew "I lived in the outskirts of Deepwood Motte territory and the village I was staying in was raided by the IronBorn, and for some reason they took me with them and halfway through the travel a storm came that's all I remember."
Nodding at me he said "Understood. Now, you can either rest in this room, which belongs to my son, or you can go out and look around at your choice."
After saying his piece he went out of the room leaving the door open.
So I decided not to intrude in Jorah's room anymore, so I went out of the room as soon as possible.
With no one stopping me I went around the keep for a couple of times, and I was able to analyse most of the vantage points that can be used for assassinations and spying.
As I was just observing around I saw a girl of similar age to mine swinging around a morning star and boy did she look fierce.
Suddenly she looked towards me and we locked our eyes. I didn't budge even a little, not due to my ego as a grown man, no not because of that. It's thanks to the experience of both Ezio and Edward that I'm holding eye contact with the girl.
Couple of seconds later, I heard footsteps behind me, so I naturally turned back and I saw a woman. She bear to be exact and she almost looks like one. Without breaking any sweat I bowed towards her and said "Thanks for saving me."
Eyeing me up and down she said "It's a duty of any adult to save a dying kid."
Then as she walked past me she said "Come with me, I need to test your skills."
As she said that I just stood there and gave her a dubious look while thinking 'How the hell does she figure out that I have some skills?'
As I was rooted on my spot without showing any expression other than confusion she turned her head towards me and said "It's my instinct. I can tell that you are skilled in at least one weapon. So which is it?"
Hearing that I looked through my memories and found that I have been practising with single handed axe and shield fighting, with sticks and planks so I said "I haven't used any sort of weapons. I mainly used sticks as a spear or axe and planks as shields."
She nodded and said while pointing at the weapons rack "Great, take an axe from there and spar with my daughter."
I just nodded at her and went to get a one handed axe and went spar with the girl, whom I believe to be Dacey Mormont. And the spar ended before it even started as I just skilfully took her down.
Seeing that the She-Bear looked at me and mumbled "And he's only a bastard."
After I was sure that the sparring had ended I extended my hand to Dacey and said "Edward."
Taking my hand with a smile she said "Dacey."
Then I heard "Dacey, show Edward around the keep." Saying that Maege just turned around and went inside the keep.
Dacey looked at me and said "Come on I'll show you around."
And I was dragged around the area at least ten times.
