Chapter 2: A New Start

"L-a... Li-a! Lina!"

"AH!" She shouted as she shot up from her seat. Lina blinked a couple of times and noticed a middle school teacher giving her a nasty look.

It was then she heard several snickers coming from the students around her.

'W-what the hell happened?' Lina thought as she looked around the classroom. 'I'm sure I had jumped off... huh?!' But, at that moment, Lina focused all her attention on her hands. She was able to feel them. It wasn't a dream; it didn't feel like a dream to her. It all felt so real.

"### ### ###### ###, Lina!" The teacher yelled at Lina, but she wasn't able to understand anything. She only knew the fact that he was addressing her as Lina.

'Is this german?' Lina asked herself.

"Ummm-" Lina tried speaking but stopped immediately. 'Such a beautiful voice...? A girl's voice?' Lina thought with utter disbelief as she touched her soft lips.

She then looked down at her body and widened her eyes, but she made sure not to make any weird noises. 'This isn't my body! And a little girl at that!'

"### #### #######, ### ###'## ##### ## #### ##########." The teacher spoke one last time before heading back to the front of the classroom. To Lina, he seemed pretty annoyed.

Lina then took the chance to sit down and ponder what was happening. Perhaps this was a chance given by god? To redeem herself as a pianist?

As Lina was about to continue down that train of thought, she was interrupted by a sudden chill. She looked to her right and saw two boys staring not at her but at what was below her. Lina then swished her head to the left and noticed a girl glancing at her scornfully, though when she saw Lina's gaze, she quickly averted her eyes.

Lina looked down and noticed the problem. Her legs were spread too widely, not to mention she had a skirt on!

"Haaa..." Lina sighed hopelessly and sunk her head into her arms. 'I can't even sit like a man?'

During the rest of class, Lina quickly discovered a fatal problem. She wasn't able to understand not a single word in German. Likewise, while the teacher was talking, Lina couldn't recall a single word.

'This is going to be a pain...' Lina thought with a severe look on her face.

Gong! Gong! Gong!

The school bell began chiming. The sound of chairs skirting across the floor erupted. Lina took the chance to pick up the school bag from her table and left the classroom.

Lina then headed straight from the restrooms and stepped into the ladies' room. She wasn't dumb enough to enter the men's room. Lina understood that she wasn't who she used to be.

'It still bewilders me seeing this.' Lina thought as she touched her soft cheek in front of the mirror. Her long silky dark golden hair flowed down her back like a waterfall. Deep blue eyes stared back with curiosity. And a small puffy face shaded in a clear, fair color.

'I can't spend my time here.' Lina sighed, threw her backpack over her back, and got ready to leave, but before she could leave the restroom, she felt something bash against her forehead.

"Fuck..." Lina cursed in a soft mutter and looked up ahead.

"Ah, #####! #####!" The girl in front of Lina scrambled to pick up the papers that fell out of her backpack. To Lina, it seemed she was apologizing, but why did she seem scared?

The girl had round silver lenses around her eyes that seemed a little too big for her. Smooth skin coupled with light blonde hair cut into a rough shag. The wrinkles between her two big hazel eyes signaled anxiousness.

Lina couldn't say anything, though Lina offered her hand to help her up.

"Heick!" The girl flinched as she moved her hand to block her face, but seeing as nothing was happening, she looked up at Lina.

'These are piano sheets...' Lina thought as she picked up the sheets of paper on the ground. The moment she saw the piece's intro, she instantly realized what piece. 'Chopin Etude Op 25 No 2... for an Etude piece, it's not that hard. The only thing that makes it hard is that it has at presto (extremely fast), but for someone her age, it's impressive...'

It was people like this girl that had left Lina behind and caused a sense of disparity to be engraved deep into her heart.

Lina's hand began to tremble. 'Only if I was a bit more talented...' Lina felt the urge to let out a scream and trash the piano sheet. 'Goddamn god's chosen, talented children...'

"Ah! #####! ### ### piano sheets!" The girl yelled as she got on her knees and begged.

Seeing this, Lina snapped out of her trance. 'What kind pathetic of thoughts are these?' Lina thought with self-contempt. 'She's just a kid...'

Lina then crouched down and began picking up the fallen sheets of paper. Without saying anything more, she handed them back to the girl.

Lina at least wanted to ask for her name or tell her it was an amazing piece she was playing, but with the language barrier, she was unable to.

"#-##### ###..." The girl thanked me while receiving the papers.

There wasn't anything more for Lina to say, so she walked away.

Exiting the school, she gazed at the gate without a clear goal. 'This girl has a home, right?' Lina pondered, reached into her backpack, and began fumbling with her hands until she found a phone. Lina didn't waste any time and read the date.

November 16, 2014.

"It hasn't even been a day since I jumped off that building...." Lina mumbled with a complicated expression, but she soon shook her head to alleviate herself from the useless thoughts.

Although there was a lock to the phone, it seemed that Lina's fingerprint was enough to unlock it. From there, she went to the maps app and looked for the address under home.

Lina pressed the directions button and realized that it was only a ten-minute walk from the school.

Raising her head back up to the unfamiliar streets of Germany, she took a step forward closer to her destination.
