Chapter 6: 6•Come fly with me[2]
While that was happening, Will and Phil just arrived at Jay house as they knocked on the door
Jay:"Finally your-here…"
Jay voice slowly faded out as he saw Phil behind Will.
Will:"He's here to hang out."
Jay:"Hang out?
Phil:"Brought 6 friends."
Jay just nodded slowly as he saw the beers, the duo entered the house and followed behind Jay as they entered the dining room, seeing the unfinished plane.
Will and Jay started to work on it as Phil stands awkwardly to the side.
Jay:"Do you have to just stand there? You're making us uneasy."
Will:"Actually I'm fine"
Jay:"It's okay Will, you don't have to be nice"
Phil:"Um..."
Jay:"For god's sake, sit down.[Turns to will] let's give him a chance[Turning back to face Phil]You can hold this wing in place while I fasten this."
Phil hesitates as he looked at Jay but will waves him over.
Will:"Come on."
Phil sits uncomfortably on the couch, exactly as Dylan did when Phil wanted to talk to him.
With this going on, Back at the Dunphy house, Claire was putting cookies on a plate as Manny sits.
Manny:"So what's the matter, Claire?"
Claire:" What do you mean?"
Manny:"You seem worried and sad."
Claire:"Oh, it's nothing. Just dealing with some Alex stuff plus not to mention possible sparks flying between her and Will but You know, kids.
Many:"Kids. You don't have to tell me. My school is full of them."
-Back to Jay, Will and Phil.-
Will, Jay and Phil are alone in a giant field. There may be other people around, but they are far away. Jay holds the remote control and manipulates the plane, which flies above. Phil is into this.
Phil:"Now can I try it?"
Jay:"No."
Phil:"Will You know if my life has gone a little differently, I think I would have been a pilot."
Will looks at him as Phil just nodded
Phil:"Yeah I-Hey, what would happen if you turned the remote off and then back on real fast?"
Will:"Yeah, you would've been a great pilot"
This got a chuckle out of Jay as Phil just scratched the back of his head
Phil:"So can you do a loop-de-loop"
Jay:"If I wanted to."
Phil:"No way can I try it?"
Phil hand slowly tried to grab the control remote but Jay, not responding to his question, made him retract it.
Will:"Awkward…"
Phil looked at Will who just turned his head to the side, whistling
Phil:"Oh come on that is so TV shows"
Will:"What? No, it's just it's really good day to whistle."
Phil:"Yeah you're right, it's so peaceful. I mean, the whole world disappears when you're out here."
Will nodded along with Jay as silence over took.
Phil:"I remember this one summer --"
Jay annoyed by Phil constant talking decided to mess with him.
Jay:"Tell you what. There's another trick called threading the needle. I used to do it with Claire and Mitch when they were kids. You wanna try it?"
Phil:"How does it go?"
Jay:"You grab one of those hoops over there and go stand way, way, way at the end of the field, and I fly the plane through it."
Phil:"That sounds awesome! And then I
get a turn at flying it?"
Jay:"No."
Phil:"Okay, Why doesn't Will do the same? It'll look way cooler"
Will seeing this shook his head rather quickly
Will:"No no, I'm okay, I can stand here and watch"
Phil:"Whaatt, where's the fun in that, come on"
Will:"No I'm good"
Jay:"Come on WillZ, nothings gonna happen unless you move and the plane crashes into you"
Jay laughed as Will and Phil looked at him with blank expressions.
Phil:"Yoy have a nickname for will? Where's my nickname?"
Jay:"Just go"
-The scene changes to Alex and Gloria having lunch at the mall.-
Gloria:"So I was thinking after lunch we
could do a little shopping."
Gloria and Alex sat at a table as a waiter put down some biscuits
Alex:"I'm not getting a dress."
Gloria:"That's fine by me. I am not your mother."
Alex:"I know. You're my grandmother.
Gloria:"Step-grandmother."
Alex smiled.
Alex:"Everyone at my school thinks it's weird."
Gloria:"Why is that?"
Alex:"Because you're so young and pretty. Who has a hot grandmother?"
Gloria:"I did. But for today, think of me as a girlfriend. We are just two girlfriends, out for an afternoon of fun."
Alex:"What do you usually do with your girlfriends?"
Gloria:"I don't know, we go out, we talk, we drink wine."
Alex:"Can I drink wine?"
Gloria:"No."
Alex:"Some friend."
Gloria:"Well, you can still feel free to talk to me about anything."
Alex:"Yeah, adults always say that, but they don't mean it. When my mom says I can ask her anything, I really can't. She just freaks out."
Gloria:"Well, not me. I do not freak out.So, shoot"
Alex:"Okay. How many men have you slept with?"
Gloria smiles with Alex looking at her
Gloria:"Eight. What else you got?"
-At the field-
Phill and Will are far away from Jay that he could see the silhouettes of them and the hoops but In actuality, Will and Phil were not that far apart from each other due to Phil misjudging the place.
Will tried to correct him but Phil was sure he was in the right place, earning a small whine complaint from Will
Jay:"That's good. Now stand still! Don't move!"
Jay shouted as Phil let out a chuckle with Will behind him groaning out.
Phil:"Come on it's gonna be okay"
Will:"Uh Phil, could you move a bit, you're taller than me so Jay might not be able to see me."
Will started to move to the side as Phil turned around still holding the hoop.
Phil:"Come on-"
Phil turned around hearing the plane getting closer as he saw it coming straight to his face. He ducked but unfortunately he still held the hoop so when he ducked the plane hit the hoop, causing it to lose control and hit Will, the tail to his nose while the the head of the plane hit his forehead.
Phil quickly stands up as he went towards Will and looked at him from above, while Jay, was seen speed walking to him
Jay:"I Told you not to move!"
Phil:"I didn't!"
Jay:"Yes you did, how is it that Will got hit instead of you?!"
Phil:"What!"
Jay arrived rather quickly while yelling towards phill as he grabbed the plane. Phil took it from him as he looked at it angrily
Phil:"You hurt my friend you machine devil"
Phil smacks it to the ground as a part of it hits him in the nose.
Phil and Will were groaning out as Jay looked at the both of them with a shock expression
Jay:"Uhm…who…Ah what the hell"
Jay grabbed Will who was groaning and putting his arms around his shoulders as he left Phil on the ground.
Will:"I knew it, I shouldn't have come out to the field."
Jay:"It's gonna be okay, gonna take you to Claire, because frankly I don't wanna see your parents face when you explain to them when Phil hit you with the plane."
Will just groaned out as he looked back and saw Phil standing up but stumbling
Will:"What about Phil?"
Jay:"Who?"
Will:"Phil"
Jay:"The person who was supposed to get hit?"
Jay chuckled but Will just groaned out even more. Arriving at the parking lot, they entered Will car that they took to get here.
Jay laid down will on the 2nd row as Jay sat next to driver who looked weirdly at them.
Phil arrived with him limping as he entered and moved Will feet so he can sit next to the door
Will:"Alex House"
He groaned out as the driver listened to him.
-At the Mall with Gloria and Alex-
Gloria and Alex are seated across from each other. Continuing their conversation
Gloria:"Well, I have a small flower on my ankle, and a tiny butterfly on my... thigh."
Alex:"How high up?"
Gloria:"High"
Alex:"Did you do it to look sexy? No, Did you do it for a guy? Does Grandpa like it?"
Gloria:"No. No. Oh yes."
Alex:"That's gross."
Alex scrunches up her face while Gloria just shrugs
Gloria:"Meh."
Alex:"Let's go back to your piercings.
Gloria:"No, no, I have played balls, and answered a lot of your questions. I have two question for you."
Alex:"What are they?"
Gloria:"Why don't you want to wear a dress?"
Alex:"Because I don't want to look like Haley and her stupid friends."
Gloria:"I wear a dress and I am not Haley."
Alex:"You are Haley, just forty years older."
Gloria:"Ten."
Alex:"Twenty."
Gloria:"Deal.But Alex, why do you fight me on this --"
She was cut off by Alex
Alex:"Just leave me alone, okay. It doesn't matter if I dress up. I'm not pretty like Haley and you."
Gloria:"Well, that is ridiculous. You are a beautiful girl."
Alex:"I'm not. But that's okay, I'm the smart one. Besides no one besides you my dad or mom called me beautiful"
Gloria:"You really believe this? What about that one time Will called you it"
Alex chokes on the piece of bread she was eating as she drank water with Gloria having an amusing face.
Alex:"Ho-How?"
Gloria:"Believe it or not, Jay and Will talk, I might have heard their conversation by coincidence that he called you that when he saw you playing the cello."
Alex:"He told Jay that?"
Gloria:"Uh huh, Don't tell your mom but Jay is on Will side which brings me to my second question, Do you like Will?"
Alex chocked on her water as she coughed violently a couple of times with her face getting red while people took a glance and then went back to what they were doing.
Gloria patted Alex back a couple of times. Seeing that cough was calming down but her face still red, Gloria took another shot
Gloria:"I'll take that as a yes, Trust me Alex, as a women with my experience it's easy to tell when someone loves someone."
Alex:"I don't love Will"
Gloria:"Not yet, but I do know Will likes you."
Alex stares at her as she leaned back
Alex:"How?"
Gloria scoffs and smile's mischievously
Gloria:"Hmm how do I put this…He listens to you while you talk smart, he compliments you, he's always wanting to be near you, he's nervous around you, whenever the family is in the room he always looks to you first, he actually laughs at your jokes, he ask simple yet important questions to you that you probably don't even know, like how was your day or what happened, anyways, he actually pays attention to the small stuff you say, and he even called you beautiful!"
Alex:"Wait how do you-"
Gloria:"Haley, it's nice to text her and I may or may not be observing your interactions with him over the kitchen window"
Alex:"You mean stalking?"
Glorai:"Observing"
Alex:"Stalking"
Gloria:"Tomato, to-mato"
Alex nodded as she took this in. Gloria just shows a warm smile
Gloria:"You know, one day you will want to go out on a date with a cute boy like Will. And when that day comes, you will want to look good. And so you might want to throw on a dress."
Alex:"But counting me meeting him and the family night, it's only been 16 days since I know him."
Gloria:"Yea but?"
Alex:"But over those 2 weeks he has been trying to get to know me more while hanging around my house. He's even had time to forms connections with the family, like grandpa Jay."
Gloria bangs her fist on the table as she laughed
Gloria:"Ah-Ha, Will likes you."
Alex:"If he likes me then why hasn't he asked me out? Hmm?"
Alex intently looked at Gloria, trying to see what answer she would give
Glori:"Claire and Honey he's trying to get to know you more, What would you have said if he asked you out without getting to know you more?"
Alex:"No"
Gloria:"See?, from what I see you have four choices, one, you could send these "signals" back to him , two, approach him and tell him, three, wait till he's ready or you give hints so he could ask you or four, tell him you don't see him that way."
Alex:"Oh I-"
Gloria:"But hey, I'm not rushing you into anything, just wait and bask in the glory knowing a cute boy likes you"
Alex chuckles as she nodded
Gloria:"Who knows, he might ask you out sooner than you can imagine but the real question is what will you say"
Alex takes this in and blushed as she imagine the scenario.
