Chapter 35: Chapter 27
Hadrian on returning was working hard to fill in the power gap left by Peter, Edmund, Susan, and Lucy. Hadrian could tell if he had to address the issue quickly.
Several candidates have been suggested to be the next King of Narnia, most notably Lord Peridan who is a very important noble in the Pevensie Court, Another possible candidate was Prince Corin of Archenland, who would have been in a prime political position with the backing of King Lune and his brother and Future King Cor.
Regardless of who succeeded the Pevenies, their reign would have been contested by their nobles, the Tisrocs of Calormen, and those few Narnians who still believed that the Pevensies would return.
Hadrian first told everyone the truth regarding the disappearance of Pevensies.
The Narnians were shocked to learn that their Kings and Queens were accidentally sent back to their homeland.
Many accepted it, while some of the hardcore supporters of the Pevensie siblings were suspicious about Hadrian and started commenting about him taking over the crown.
But that was quickly squished by Fox, who brought witnesses like the trees that saw the Kings and Queens disappear into the wardrobe. Also, Fox added his thoughts"Did you forget King Hadrian is the son of Aslan, the rightful King of Narnia?"
This caused the ones that questioned to look down in embarrassment.
While Mr.Tummus narrowing eyes at the person, who started the so called rumors and said"Did you forget Queen Susan is also married to King Hadrian?"
The so-called courtiers shut up after that, while
Hadrian sighed and questioned Lord Peridan"So Lord Peridan I am guessing the news has already spread about their disappearance."
Lord Peridan nodded and replied, "My Lord we have a dress the issue is soon otherwise there is massive unrest among the people."
Hadrian nodded and said, "Tell them the truth, also tell them their King and Queens will be back."
Lord Peridan was surprised and asked, "They will be back?"
Hadrian nodded and replied"They will, but when is the question is when. Since there is a time difference between their world and ours, it could take centuries for them to return."
Everyone was sad hearing this, while Oreius questioned: "Your majesty, what is Lord Aslan who sent them back?"
Hadrian sighed and answered"I think so, my father probably believe they learnt their lessons and it was time to send them back. Also, they have a father and mother waiting for them back in their home world."
They couldn't say anything, since it was Aslan who made the decision. Hadrian then added, "So until they come back, I will act as Regent."
So Hadrian would rule as a regent of Narnia for the next 983 years. But then came the issue
The Telmarines were the inhabitants of Telmar
.These people were actually humans from Earth. On Earth, a group of pirates who intermarried with women from islands in the Pacific found an island with a cave that had an entrance to the Narnian world. The pirates found the land of Telmar uninhabited, the original colony of Calormenes having been turned into dumb beasts by Aslan for their behavior and destroyed each other. The Telmarines prospered for years until a famine struck their land.
The first Caspian led the Telmarines into Narnia. After arriving at the small northern country of Narnia, he found few men to fight. He found animals, talking beasts, and trees that could move and talk.So he attacked the smallest Village in the western part.
While the Narnians, who stayed there quickly escaped with the help of Vanishing Cabinets. These we're created in case of emergencies by Hadrian to come quickly to Narnian Capital.
So multiple Vanshining cabinets were set up from different villages to Narnian capital.This quick reaction made sure to reduce the casualties during the Telmarines attacks.
